Ahead of its TCA presentation, ABC announced the renewal of three exisiting shows, as well as an upcoming musical episode of AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE.
First, the network has ordered a third season of THE GOOD DOCTOR, a second season of A MILLION LITTLE THINGS and an eleventh season of SHARK’S TANK.
In addition, ABC announced that it will air two special music-themed episodes of AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE this spring. The “American Idol” episode will air on Tuesday, March 19 and will include special appearances by the judges of ABC’s AMERICAN IDOL, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest. The episode will focus on Taylor’s dream of becoming a musical superstar and her trip to Los Angeles to audition for “American Idol”. After that, the season finale — titled “A Mom’s Parade” — will air on Tuesday, May 21 and will include four original songs. “Frustrated by the lack of appreciation for all she does, Katie decides to go “full-Westport” and leaves the family to fend for themselves. Katie’s plan quickly backfires when the kids seem to be doing just fine, leaving Greg to suffer the brunt of her absence. Guest star Peyton Meyer returns as Trip.”
Finally, the network will air a special preview episode of VIDEOS AFTER DARK, which is described as “a new comedy reality series hosted by comedian Bob Saget and featuring home videos with an edgier twist”. The episode will air on Tuesday, March 12 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT following the season finale of THE BACHELOR.
