Perhaps all of the above apply to tonight’s NCIS season 17 premiere, “Out of the Darkness.” But most longtime viewers will agree that NCIS definitely represents “family,” whether that family is by birth or assembled from the important people in one’s life.
At the end of last season, former series star, Cote de Pablo, appeared in Gibbs’s (Mark Harmon) basement as the “late” Ziva David. Since de Pablo’s departure from the series in 2013, it has been revealed that Ziva went underground and had a baby. Since No Character Is Secure, it was revealed three years later that Ziva had “died” in an explosion via a video message. emember, however, No Clue Is Superficial…
Ziva’s “death,” led to the departure of fellow Special Agent, Tony DiNozzo, (BULL star, Michael Weatherly). Since No Choice Is Straightforward, Tony supposedly chose to take care of his and Ziva’s daughter in Paris to keep the child away from danger… because No Commitment Is Spared…
Because No Collusion Is Simple, Ziva’s cover has been blown by a wildcard in the mix. Mouzam Makkar guest stars as the mysterious woman, Sahar. Ziva tells Gibbs, “There is a woman. Her name is Sahar. She wants me dead and now she’s after you.” But why is Gibbs being threatened? Our guess is because No Conspiracy Is Secret, the reason goes back as far as Ziva’s introduction to NCIS when Gibbs was chasing her half-brother, terrorist, Ari Haswari (Rudolf Martin). Because No Criminal Is Safe, Ziva killed Ari to prevent him from murdering Gibbs, and the details have been kept quiet for 14 years. Could Sahar be exacting revenge for Ari’s death?
Since No Colleague Is Surrendered, Ziva emerges from hiding to warn Gibbs that he is in danger. de Pablo, who is guesting in a two-episode arc this week and next, returns later in the season for reasons not disclosed. Should Weatherly have time for a guest shot later this season, I’m still holding out hope for NCIS: THE PRESIDIO.
