thetvaddict.com – Our Favourite TV Shows In Canada

We live in a world where multiple forms of entertainment available to us. You can play the latest Nintendo game, watch your all time favourite movies or enjoy online slot games at Royal Vegas casino. However, in Canada, it is the good old TV shows that reign supreme, and here is the lowdown on the ones that we all seem to love the most.

Motive
Motive is a police procedural drama that is more than worth checking out. Set in Vancouver, Motive sees Detective Angie Flynn, played by Kristin Lehman, go about her business in the police force. Unlike other police-based shows, Motive informs the viewer of both the victim and the killer at the beginning of each episode, before going on to fill in the blanks. In many ways, you could say the show takes on a similar style to the legendary Columbo TV series. With four seasons and fifty-two episodes in total, Motive is the perfect binge watch for any Canadian.

Baroness von Sketch Show
Baroness von Sketch Show debuted on CBC in June 2016 and has gone from strength to strength ever since. It’s an all-female comedy show which stars the likes of Jennifer Whalen, Meredith MacNeill, Aurora Browne and Carolyn Taylor. The show, which makes use of funny skits to address contemporary culture, has already won awards such as an ACTRA in 2018. There have been four seasons of Baroness von Sketch Show so far, and now fans are eagerly anticipating series five. So, if you haven’t watched yet, check out CBC or Netflix Canada to catch up on what you’ve missed.

Bitten
Bitten is a show which, unlike the others in this list, takes inspiration from a series of books. Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong is where the idea of Bitten came from, with the first book being key to the name of the show. Season one of Bitten centres on a female werewolf called Elena Michaels, played by Laura Vandervoort. She’s conflicted as she can’t choose between her normal life, and the one she leads as a werewolf. So, you get a gist of what’s to come in the show if you haven’t watched already. The battle which ensues in Bitten is epic, and this is what leads on into the second season and beyond.

Orphan Black
Orphan Black is a sci-fi thriller which is more than worth a watch in Canada. Starring the likes of Tatiana Maslany, Sarah Manning, Jordan Gavaris and Maria Doyle Kennedy, the show focuses on Maslany’s character Sarah, who is a witness to a suicide. However, the woman who has taken her own life looks exactly like Sarah, so, there’s an assumption that Sarah and the woman are clones, which brings the sci-fi angle into play. If you missed out on the show when it was live, you could catch up with a couple of the five seasons on Netflix Canada. And, we hope the rest of the series’ appear on Netflix Canada soon.
