GLEE’s Fall Soundtrack: Something Old, Something New

September 20, 2011 By theTVaddict 1 Comment

Since it’s probably too much to hope for a Rob Zombie-themed Halloween episode of GLEE, we’re willing to settle for the next best thing: any of these five as-yet-unsung songs being included in an upcoming episode of the Fox hit.

“Does Your Mother Know”
No idea what’s in store for Bad Quinn, but assuming Lima’s resident Teen Mom doesn’t swear off boys, dare we suggest a flirtation with an older fella — perhaps Broadway’s erstwhile Urban Cowboy, Matt Cavenaugh? — who’d be moved to sing her this Abba classic?

“Romeo and Juliet”
Whether the show does a Very Special Episode about the perils of marijuana, this ditty, performed by Kristen Bell and Christian Campbell in Showtime’s Reefer Madness movie musical, would be perfect for whichever couple Cupid’s arrow strikes next.

“I’m Coming Out”
If and when Karofsky decides to leave his hang-ups on the rack, Diana Ross should be waiting on the other side of the closet door.

“I’m a Nerd”
Not only is Joshua Desjardins’ hyperactive debut single less an anti-bullying song than a pro-dork anthem, the singer himself looks like he was separated at birth from bespectacled Artie. See for yourself (Above)

“Gold”
Okay, so maaaybe this ’70s John Stewart/Stevie Nicks duet wouldn’t work as a graduation theme for McKinley High’s entire class of ’12. But as a sendoff for Finn, Rachel and Kurt, a number about “people out there turning music into gold” seems wholly apropos.

GLEE returns with new episodes this Tuesday September 20th at 8PM FOX (Global TV in Canada and stars Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Harry Shum Jr. and Darren Criss.
