Robert Wagner returns to NCIS as Anthony DiNozzo, Sr. tonight in a ripped-from-the-headlines episode, “Death From Above.” In a real-life week that started with the FBI investigating suspicious packages found in multiple government facilities including military sites in the Washington, D.C., area, tonight’s NCIS is, once again, ahead of the curve.

Like its real-life counterpart, tonight’s episode involves potential explosive devices found at a military installation and the ramifications of violence in the workplace. Both situations found bomb components onsite, but unlike real-life, there is a casualty at the reel-life NCIS. As the NCIS team enjoys a relatively quiet day reading Ducky’s (David McCallum) manuscript, there is an explosion on the premises.

A body lands on the skylight of the NCIS bullpen, the victim/suspect in a bombing attempt gone awry. A hacked security grid, a bomber who may be unidentifiable, a detonator, a lockdown, a possible building breach, a rooftop situation, potassium nitrate, and a potential invader with an automatic weapon…phrases that never should happen in a workplace…all happen tonight at NCIS.

Rocky Carroll (Director Leon Vance), helms tonight’s episode. Carroll’s directorial skills already delivered what, in this writer’s opinion, was the best episode of the season, as he deftly extracts impactful moments with just the right amount of emotion that needs no dialog.

Other guest stars are Ty Olsson (Benny, SUPERNATURAL), Gwendoline Yeo (GENERAL HOSPITAL), Ian Verdun (LUCIFER) and Nalini Sharma (SHOTS FIRED). “Death From Above” was written by Christopher J. Waild.

NCIS airs tonight (March 27) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the United States and on Global TV in Canada.
