We Preview Tonight’s Shocking Season Finale of THE LYING GAME with Star Adrian Pasdar

March 5, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

In any drama, the story is only as good as its heroes and villains, and in ABC Family’s THE LYING GAME, the best villain so far is Alec Rybak – a shady District Attorney who may or may not have committed murder to cover up a decades old mystery.    In a recent conference call with press, star Adrian Pasdar shared what his character Alec is really up to and hinted that there may be trouble in paradise with the pending nuptials of Alec and Rebecca (fantastically portrayed by Charisma Carpenter). February 21, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Somehow the addictiveness of FX’s hot drama series JUSTIFIED is only more apparent as the series whips right through its third season.  Taking a few minutes to chat with press in a recent conference call, star Timothy Olyphant dropped a few teasers and candidly shared what he likes most about portraying Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, a man quick to pull the trigger when necessary and who stares down the deadliest villains with beguiling calmness.  [Read more…]

The Top 10 Television Shows of 2011 (A Second Opinion)

December 29, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt 12 Comments

With the vast array of astoundingly good TV shows currently airing across the television landscape, it is incredibly hard to point a mere Top 10.   In an effort to single out what I thought reached the Top 10 for 2011, the following are 10 shows that excelled in writing, casting, characters, cinematography, direction, production and publicity.  Interestingly, 4 out of 10 of the shows are British TV shows, which just goes to show that America cannot claim exclusively to be the “best of the best.”

DOCTOR WHO
First and foremost, DOCTOR WHO takes the top crown.  No matter what other critics say, it is a remarkable achievement for any TV show to continue to enthral viewers after 48 years – of which it aired over 33 televised seasons in more than 50 countries around the globe.  The genius in recasting the lead character every couple of years adds to the renewed interest in fans and the writers in creating new stories; but, by far, the current broadcast run under the helm of Steven Moffat and showcasing the enumerable talents of Matt Smith has been nothing short of extraordinary.  I am not alone in this belief, as DOCTOR WHO has secured a number of BAFTA nominations in recent years – including a recent nomination for Best Actor, and winning in prior years for Best Drama and Best Writing.  This past year has been perhaps one of the most shocking, surprising and delightful seasons ever as it began the season with the death of The Doctor and ended with his wedding.   The cleverly cast ensemble made up of Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill and Alex Kingston has infused the series with life and energy and created an addictiveness that crosses demographics like no other show ever – children, parents and grandparents are tuning in and living for just a few more moments with the infamous Doctor.  Any show that can achieve all that deserves to be number one on the year-end Top 10 list! Mark Feuerstein Reveals What’s Ahead on Season 3 of ROYAL PAINS

June 29, 2011 By theTVaddict Leave a Comment

Mark Feuerstein

During a recent conference call, Mark Feuerstein provided some key insight into his character Hank Lawson and what lies ahead in the second season of ROYAL PAINS.

Where do we next find Hank after the nine months that have passed since the last time we saw him?
Mark:  It has been a long winter for Hank Lawson. The first time you will glimpse him having lived through the winter and spring, he will have a full beard on his face – a mane as I like to call it, across his entire face. He’s taking care of patients. He lives a full winter and spring running HankMed by himself — or with the help of Divya’s presence and responsibilities never made fully clear.  Over the course of the winter, she’s been through stuff with Raj and the cancellation of the wedding. But Evan’s been gallivanting all of Europe with Paige. So it’s been a long winter, but he’s made it through and he will shave his beard for all of our viewers who might not like to see that much hair on his face.  And then there’s a lot of new wrinkles and storylines to ensure from having you know, been away from HankMed for nine months. Time Jumps! Guest Stars! Road Trips! Executive Producers Andrew Lenchewski and Michael Rauch Share Secrets from the Third Season of ROYAL PAINS

June 28, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

As USA Network’s series ROYAL PAINS returns for its third season, we find out what is next for the Lawsons, Hank and Evan, and their father Eddie Lawson, last seen headed off to prison.  The show picks up nine months later to see the aftermath of so many momentous changes in their lives.  But as the Lawsons discover, no matter how many  surprises and curve balls that life throws at them, they are still bound by their enduring love and intertwined destinies.

What can you tell us about the one year time jump and how will this effect the various relationships on the show between the characters?
Andrew Lenchewski: Well, it’s not quite a year. I mean what we’re doing is the first two seasons were in one summer and now we’re jumping to the next summer. So we’re going about a little under a nine-month time jump from the end of Summer 1 of the Royal Pains life to the beginning of Summer 2.
Michael Rauch: That’s been one of the challenges and one of the fun parts for us —  how do you keep the characters in larger arcs going even though there’s been basically a bunch of seasons that we haven’t played and we haven’t seen and the audience hasn’t seen. It’s one of the reasons why we ended Season 2 the way we did with a lot of people going away so we could come back in Season 3 with getting into what happened while they were gone. A continuation of some storylines and some surprises that happened in the time we didn’t play. [Read more…]

Ask the Addict: Spoilers for ENTOURAGE, GENERAL HOSPITAL, WEEDS & More!

May 26, 2011 By theTVaddict Leave a Comment

If my Twitter feed is any indication, a slew of lucky TV types have already been given the opportunity to check out at least some of Fall’s new offerings. Are you one of the lucky ones, and if so, what our your thoughts thus far? — Mike
The TV Addict: Seeing as though we were only granted access to a select number of Fall pilots under the strict condition that we were not allowed to “review” them (Cue Boilerplate: Episodes were provided for planning purposes only. NOT FOR REVIEW. Episodes are rough cuts that contain temporary picture, graphics, audio and music) our thoughts on what is already shaping up to be a far more exciting September than its predecessor will unfortunately have to wait. Well, except to say one thing that we’re fairly confident the proverbial powers that be won’t mind us spilling: When it comes to shows that may-or-may-not star Emily Van Camp, Sarah Jones and Jennifer Morrison, we are already counting down the days until we can find out what happens next.

Any scoop on ENTOURAGE’s final season? — Alison
The TV Addict: Suffice it to say, after last season’s drug bust, Vince’s career won’t be the only thing going up in flames. So much so that your very own TV Addict has just learned that the gang’s not-so-humble abode will be going up in smoke thanks to a incredibly irresponsible amphibian named Turtle. Oh, and that’s not the only thing heating up this summer. According to sources, one gang member’s hard-partying ways may come back to haunt them in the form of a bun in the oven. But will it serve as the wake up call Vince needs to turn his life around? Stay tuned…

Snap Judgments: 2 BROKE GIRLS, A GIFTED MAN, HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN, UNFORGETTABLE & PERSON OF INTEREST

May 23, 2011 By theTVaddict 4 Comments

2 BROKE GIRLS
According to the Official CBS Description: 2 BROKE GIRLS is a comedy about two young women waitressing at a greasy spoon diner who strike up an unlikely friendship in the hopes of launching a successful business – if only they can raise the cash

Why We’re Excited: As evidence by her ability to make Michael “One Note” Cera seem believably crush-worthy in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, combined with her more recent penchant for upstaging Academy Award Winning It-Girl Natalie Portman in Thor, Kat Dennings is — for lack of a better word — da’ bomb.

Why We Probably Shouldn’t Let Our Excitement Get the Better of Us: Thanks to SEX AND THE CITY’s Michael Patrick King at the helm, James Burrows in the director’s chair, and the already winning duo that is Kat Dennings and relative newcomer Beth Behrs, that ship has sailed!

Exit Interview: Kristina Kell Talks SURVIVOR REDEMPTION ISLAND

March 23, 2011 By theTVaddict Leave a Comment

While many will argue that the introduction of “Redemption Island” is SURVIVOR’s biggest twist this season, some… okay we like to think that the far bigger surprise has a little something to do with the fact that for the first time in the history of the series, ousted contestants will have to face off against… us! Yes, you’re reading that correctly, theTVaddict.com is honored to have been asked to take part in the traditional one-on-ones with each week’s eliminated contestant, the third of which was the lovely Kristina Kell.

In our previous SURVIVOR exit interviews, we were really surprised to learn that both Francesca and Russell didn’t bother to watch the season save for the episode they got voted off, have you been watching the show?
Kristina Kell: Oh God yes! I’ve watched them all, a couple of them I’ve re-watched over and over agin just to see what was going on and what I didn’t see going on behind me. That said, if I were the first booted, which is really kind of a hard thing and a blow to your ego, I could kind of imagine Francesca not watching, or even Russell because of what happened to him. But me, I’m definitely watching.

So as someone who did watch, what do you think of your edit, were you happy with the way you were portrayed on the show?
I’m happy with the way they portrayed me because I think it’s kind of close to the way I normally am. I’m a little more talkative then what they showed so I’ve got that, but besides that as far as the way I was thinking or the way I felt during some of the situations out there it’s pretty close to who I am which I’m happy about. Especially because with those edits they can do anything.

Ask the Addict: Spoilers for SHAMELESS, DEGRASSI, NIKITA, PARENTHOOD & More!

March 17, 2011 By theTVaddict 1 Comment

Any word on what will go down when Michael and Nikita have a little talk when the show returns. — Amy
The TV Addict: Unfortunately for Nikita, the “word” is somewhat of a good news, bad news situation. With the good news being that Michael will promise to keep what he knows about Alex’s true loyalties from Percy if — and here is where the bad news comes in — Nikita can find Kasim (the man responsible for murdering Michael’s family) within the next 24 hours!

Is there any hope for us Mikita (Michael and Nikita) shippers? — Brenda
The TV Addict: While we’re hesitant to give false hope to Mikita shippers — particularly because we haven’t seen the last of Owen — our sources on location (Suffice to say, living in the same city in which NIKITA shoots is finally starting to pay off!) Michael and NIkita will very soon be working hand-in-hand in an effort to free Alex from the clutches of Division before she is outed as the mole by [redacted for fear of spoiling everything!]

Our 2011 Oscar Telecast Review in a Nutshell: Four Hours of Our Life We’ll Never Get Back!

February 28, 2011 By theTVaddict 12 Comments

In summing up our reaction to last night’s 83rd ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS, we’re not being facetious when we ask, “For the love of all things holy is it over yet?” we’re actually asking! Seriously. To give you an idea as to just how painful last night’s OSCAR telecast was — for the first time ever — your very own TV Addict packed it in early, calling it a night around the time Natalie Portman predictably wobbled away with a much-deserved Best Actress award for her work in The Black Swan. Yes, the show was just that bad. But before we get to why, in the interest of fairness, here are a few positives.

From The King’s Speech to Christian Bale nabbing his first of what we suspect will be many career wins for his remarkable work in The Fighter, it’s hard to argue with any of last night’s winners. Also hard to argue with, the fact that host Anne Hathaway tried her absolute best under the circumstances. Unfortunately, no amount of singing, dancing or “Woo-Hooing” could mask the fact that the other half of last night’s hosting entity, James “Jack of all Trades” Franco finally came face-to-face with something he couldn’t do.
