An In Depth Look At… Summer Preview For The ABC Soaps!

May 28, 2010 By theTVaddict 2 Comments

If mysterious newcomers are stirring up trouble in Llanview, bombs are literally going off in Port Charles and weddings are being planned in Pine Valley, it must mean that our friends at Soaps In Depth are dishing about summer preview. So what’s ahead for ALL MY CHILDREN, ONE LIFE TO LIVE and GENERAL HOSPITAL? Read on and find out!

“Despite having shot one son, seen another sent to prison and having a daughter with some major issues because of his parenting, Sonny hasn’t learned a damn thing,” says the magazine’s executive editor, Richard M. Simms, of GH’s tempermental mob boss. “This June, his actions could wind up putting still more innocent lives on the line.” And what about that whacked-out artist, Franco — played by big-screener James Franco — who’ll be hitting town this summer? “Events that begin to unfold this week at the prison where Michael and Jason are staying will be key to Franco’s return. There’s going to be an unexpected turn of events at the prison that will set the stage for Franco’s return.”

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Television’s Most Boring Couples

May 21, 2010 By theTVaddict 14 Comments

Mike and Susan, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
These two should have been Wisteria Lane’s supercouple. Instead, we’re voting them Couple Most Likely To Get Fast-Forwarded Through. Every single time the show has had a chance to make Mike and Susan a root-for couple again, they’ve blown it.

Serena and Dan, GOSSIP GIRL
To be honest, we don’t much care for Serena with anyone. But with Nate, there was at least a bit of a spark… plus, it gave the woefully underused Chace Crawford something to do. Serena and Dan were a snoozefest from the get go and nothing’s changed since.

Snap Judgments: BODY OF PROOF, DETROIT 1-8-7, MY GENERATION, NO ORDINARY FAMILY, OFF THE MAP, THE WHOLE TRUTH, BETTER TOGETHER, HAPPY ENDINGS & MR. SUNSHINE

May 18, 2010 By theTVaddict 8 Comments

BODY OF PROOF
According to the ABC official Description: Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) was in a class of her own, a brilliant neurosurgeon at the top of her game.  Her world is turned upside down when a devastating car accident puts an end to her time in the operating room.  Megan resumes her career as a medical examiner determined to solve the puzzle of who or what killed the victims.  Megan’s instincts are sharp, but she’s developed a reputation for graying the lines of where her job ends and where the police department’s begins.  It turns out her career isn’t the only thing that will need to be rebuilt; Megan’s family has taken a backseat to her ambition, and now she’ll discover there’s a lot of work to do when it comes to dissecting her relationships with the living.

Dana Delany stars as Dr. Megan Hunt, Jeri Ryan as Dr. Kate Murphy, Geoffrey Arend as Dr. Elliot Gross, John Carroll Lynch as Detective Bud Morris, Windell Middlebrooks as Dr. Curtis Brumfield, Nic Bishop as Peter Dunlap and Sonja Sohn as Detective Samantha Baker.

According to the TV Addict: WIth a Friday timeslot and a premise a little too familiar (It’s HOUSE meets BONES with a dash of EVERWOOD thrown in for good measure!) this Dana Delany fan is kinda hoping that DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES creator Marc Cherry wasn’t kidding when he told the actress, “I would love for you to have your own show so go do it and if it doesn’t work out we’ll have a place for you here [back on Wisteria Lane].”

An In Depth Look At… The Plot To Destroy GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Lulu & Dante!

May 14, 2010 By theTVaddict 2 Comments

Last week, GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Lulu and Dante — one of the show’s hottest pairings, by all accounts — finally hit the sheets in a blush-inducing, boundary-pushing, boob-blurring scene that had everyone talking. The couple couldn’t be happier… which, in soapville, means it’s time to stir up some trouble.

Enter one-woman wrecking ball Carly Corinthos.

“Carly is royally ticked with Lulu and Dante for their role in helping put her son, Michael, behind bars,” explains Soaps In Depth executive editor Richard M. Simms. “Of course, in true Carly fashion, she doesn’t accept any responsibility for her own actions, but that’s another story. If there’s one thing we know about Carly, it’s that she’s not the kind of woman who takes being crossed lightly. So this week, she decides to make Lulu and Dante pay by destroying their happy little relationship!”

Review: JUSTIFIED

March 16, 2010 By theTVaddict 4 Comments

justified
By: Aleks Chan

Timothy Olyphant could melt your television set with his charisma alone. In JUSTIFIED, FX’s smart, brisk, and terrifically acted new drama, he plays U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, one of the smoothest, laconic operators on TV. Sporting a Stetson, cowboy boots, and hip holster, he’s like a character from GUNSMOKE drizzled with a quiet, undeniable machismo. Down to his gait, Olyphant exudes charm in this role, enough to render a scattergun-wielding neo-Nazi a whimpering puppy of a man with the threat of his fast trigger finger. Givens is a man who lives by his own idea of justice and morality: he often gives his targets a time period to turn themselves in before he comes gunning for them. When he fires the first shot (and you’ll learn how fast of a draw he is), he’ll simply state: “It was justified.”

But after shooting a con in the audience of a Miami hotel and creating a massive media headache for his superiors, Givens is banished to his home state of Kentucky, where he comes to find that his childhood friend Boyd Crowder (THE SHIELD’s always excellent Walton Goggins) has become a local terrorist: leading a band of white supremacists, they’re rob banks and blow up churches. There’s a great scene in the pilot where Givens visits Boyd’s victory den (a strange pastiche of Confederate flags, swastikas, and a set of pews) and Boyd explains how the Bible justifies his behavior, thereby presenting a dueling perspective of ethics – just how different are Ray and Boyd when it comes to rationalizing their law-skirting ways?

An In Depth Look At… GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Deadly Family Feud!

February 19, 2010 By theTVaddict 25 Comments

Think your family’s got issues? Well, unless you’re an undercover cop who was gunned down by a mobster who two seconds later was revealed to be your secret daddy, you ain’t got nothin’ on GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Dante and Sonny! Our friends at Soaps In Depth tell us that things go from bad to worse when Dante (the son/shootee) realizes that his testimony is the only think standing between Sonny (the dad/shooter) and a stint behind bars.

“Did I mention that Sonny’s claustrophobic and would rather sit through a marathon of THE HILLS than be locked up in a tiny cell?” asks executive editor Richard M. Simms. “Not surprisingly, his best buddy, Jason, has come up with a plan to get Sonny out of the country if things don’t go well. And let that be a life lesson to you all: If you’re in the mood for a pal, always choose the leather-clad, emotionally-impaired hitman. He’ll totally help you out of any jam.”

Spotlight on SMALLVILLE Star Cassidy Freeman

October 16, 2009 By theTVaddict Leave a Comment

cassidy_freeman

SMALLVILLE star Cassidy Freeman is used to getting recognized, although it may surprise you to learn just who she is used to getting recognized for.

“In her day my mom looked a lot like Cybill Shepherd,” explained Freeman during an interview this week with the TV Addict. “And when I attended THE L WORD farewell party, a producer came up to me and was like, “Hey Clementine’ and I was like ‘that’s not my name!”

Luckily for Freeman, her days of getting mixed up with Cybill Shepherd’s daughter are long behind her. Especially now that the actress has just begun her sophomore SMALLVILLE season playing morally ambiguous (not to mention fan favorite ) Lex Luthor disciple Tess Mercer.

“It’s nice to come back to work and not be the fish out of water that I felt like the first few weeks last season,” explained the actor. “Now I try to make as much fun as [newcomer] Callum Blue as I can.”

Meet Tonight’s Very Special GLEE Guest Star!

September 30, 2009 By theTVaddict 9 Comments

on the set of gleeThe TV Addict on the set of GLEE with TVGuide’s Natalie Abrams

Lost amidst the deafening buzz surrounding Emmy-winner Kristin Chenoweth’s guest spot on tonight’s brand new episode of GLEE comes the debut of Hollywood’s next big thing: Your very own TV Addict.

No, seriously.

Way back in April, I was lucky enough to receive an invitation to play what some (read: my mother) might call a pivotal role — Audience Member #24 — on the FOX hit.

Arriving promptly at noon, my day started off with a trip to my very own trailer. Or so I thought.

Looking around at my so-called accommodations, I was shocked to discover that not only was there no satellite TV or blu-ray player, this wasn’t actually my trailer! Rather, it belonged to my “co-star”, Jane Lynch, who not only assumed I was there to do some sort of publicity designed to advance her career, but had the nerve to inform me that “extras” don’t get their own trailers.

Extras? WTF?!?!
