Paley Festival ‘09: DOLLHOUSE

Since this TV Addict had to make the television blogger’s equivalent of ‘Sophie’s Choice’ yesterday by deciding to spend some time on the incredible, amazing, inspiring and remarkable (seriously, there are not enough superlatives in the dictionary) set of GLEE rather than attend the DOLLHOUSE panel at Paley Festival 2009, I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite places to get your Paley Panel recap: The Futon Critic, The Hollywood Reporter and HitFix
And while I’m sharing, I also wanted to take this opportunity to share a photo of your very own TV Addict (alongside E!Online reporter extraordinaire Natalie Abrams) reveling in his 15 minutes of fame. Yes, I was [finally] discovered and asked to guest star play audience member #25 in an upcoming episode of GLEE.
Tonight’s TV Addictions: February 23, 2009
WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
CHUCK (8PM NBC)
Jeff and Lester arrive on the scene to pester Ellie into hiring their musical group Jeffster! for her upcoming wedding. Scrantonicity, watch your back.
HOUSE (8PM FOX, Global in Canada)
At this point, we’re not sure what is weirding us out more. The fact that House is being inexplicably nice to his co-workers, or that PRIVATE PRACTICE just did a hermaphrodite-centric story line four days ago!
HEROES (9PM NBC, 10PM on Global in Canada)
What’s this? An interesting story for Greg Grunberg… Well, it certainly took them long enough! Tonight’s installment features Matt as he interrogates a captured Noah to find out how he began working with Nathan to abduct those with abilities.
NEW & NOTABLE:
ONE TREE HILL (9PM CW)
FYI: Don’t let the words “Directed by Chad Michael Murray” scare you away from tonight’s repeat. It’s when you see “Written by Chad Michael Murray” that you should be afraid… be very afraid.
You Be the Critic: The Oscars

I loved it… I really really loved it.
Okay, so ‘love’ might be a tiny bit of an overstatement. But can you blame me? We’re talking Hollywood’s most glamorous night, is not overstatement what it’s all about?
With apologies in advanced to notorious Hugh Jackman-hater Dr. Cox (of SCRUBS fame), from his over-the-top opening number complete with craigslist dancers, a radiant Anne Hathaway and the hilarious confession that he has yet to, but is meaning to see The Reader (same here!), Hugh Jackman brought an energy and enthusiasm to the Kodak Theater that hasn’t been scene since the early days of Billy Crystal.
Adding to the magic were those always unexpected moments that have already become a part of Oscar lore, including: Philippe Petit, the subject of last night’s Oscar winning documentary Man on Wire flawlessly balancing the little gold statue on his chin following his film’s acceptance speech. The whistle heard round the world courtesy of Kate Winslet’s father as she scanned the audience in search of him during her own Best Actress acceptance speech. The manner in which the Ledger family accepted Heath’s much-deserved Best Supporting Actor award with grace and dignity. And the always welcome moments of levity from the likes of Seth Rogan, James Franco, Janusz Kaminski, Jack Black, Jennifer Aniston and Ben Stiller channeling Joaquin Phoenix alongside an absolutely stunning Natalie Portman.
Tonight’s TV Addictions: January 28, 2009
WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
LOST (9PM ABC, “A” in Canada)
So who’s been attacking the survivors? Locke gets a clue as to their identity. Meanwhile, Desmond tries to find the woman who might help that damn island stop hop-scotching through time.
LIE TO ME (9PM FOX, Global in Canada)
Is a female soldier’s charge that she was raped by her sergeant truth or fiction? I’m going with truth, because this show doesn’t really seem deep enough to deal with the consequences of a woman falsely crying rape. But I’ve been wrong before. Once.
LIFE ON MARS (10PM ABC, Global in Canada)
Here’s hoping a post-LOST slot will give this show a much-deserved boost. Tonight, a battle breaks out between two rival cops and Sam is drawn to a pretty young social worker. Dude, don’t you have enough on your plate what with NoNuts and that hippie neighbor and even the occasional awkward moments shared with your hot mom-who-doesn’t-know-you’re-her-son?
DAMAGES (10PM FX)
Ellen and Tom take a road trip which might provide some answers about that mysterious Ultima National Resources. Back home, Patty works to clear Daniel, who may be one of the most uncooperative and mean clients ever!
NEW & NOTABLE:
CBS EVENING NEWS (8PM CBS)
Apparently, the networks are just plain giving up. First, NBC gives the 10 p.m. slot to Jay Leno. Now, CBS dedicates 30-minutes of primetime to Katie Couric’s recapping the days events. You know, like she did a couple hours earlier on, um, the CBS EVENING NEWS. She’d better hope something really good — read: bad — happens. (Not for nothing, but if CBS was going to basically throw away this hour, why not do it against the new episode of LOST airing at 9 p.m. instead of the rerun airing in this slot?)
Random Musings: Digital TV, Donna Martin, Donald Trump & More!
You know all those really annoying commercials about the switch to Digitial TV that we’ve been forced to endure for the past year or so. Well, get ready for a lot more of them. As Broadcasting & Cable reports this week that President-elect Barack Obama has pressed pause on those pesky little issues like fixing the economy and the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan in order to ask Congress to delay the proposed DTV (Digital TV) transition date past the February 17 deadline. Begging the question, if America can’t manage a relatively simple switch to Digital TV that has been years in the making, what chance does Universal Healthcare have? We’re just sayin’.
According to E! Online, Donna Martin is indeed heading back to America’s favorite zip code. Which means it’s time for this TV Addict to offer a little bit of free advice to the ‘brains’ behind the new 90210. Ready? Because here we go in 3… 2… 1… Fans are never going to become emotionally invested in the younger generation of characters if you keep bringing back the original class. So either stop with these pathetic rating stunts, or simply rejig the show to what you cleary wish it was: 90210 Ten Years Later.
With Kathy Griffin’s penchant for hilarity catapulting her off the “D-List” and into serious “B-List” contention, perhaps Donald Trump could borrow the moniker. Because after announcing his new crop of contestants for the new season of THE APPRENTICE: ‘CELEBRITY’ EDITION that include the likes of, Clint Black, Andrew Dice Clay, poker player Annie Duke, Tom Green, golfer Natalie Gulbis, Scott Hamilton, Jesse James, DEAL OR NO DEAL model Claudia Jordan, Khloe Kardashian, Brian McKnight, Joan Rivers, Melissa Rivers, Brande Roderick, Dennis Rodman, football star Herschel Walker and Tionne “T-Boz Watkins — we can’t help but wonder if it’s finally time to call ‘CELEBRITY’ APPRENTICE what it is, THE-LIST APPRENTICE.
Jenny’s TV Guide: Wednesday August 13

In late-night coverage (starting at 11/10c), the Americans, Natalie Coughlin and Katie Hoff, who set the world record in the women’s 4x200m free relay at the 2007 World Championships will swim for Olympic gold in the event. China’s Yang Wei, the two-time world champion, is favored – especially after 2004 gold medalist Paul Hamm of the U.S. withdrew because of injury.
My Take on TV: My 5 Favorite Summer Shows

By: Amrie Cunninghame [My Take on TV]
I don’t think I’m overstating anything when I say that this summer has given us some of the best TV I’ve seen in a long time. I’m still not caught up on the few weeks I missed due to our trip to San Diego, but I still feel like I’ve seen some quality TV that I’m glad we have in the summer so these shows don’t have to compete with my regular fall viewing. Here are my favorite shows from the summer (if not listed, it’s because I’m just not caught up and I can’t say it’s my favorite if I haven’t seen it…I’m talking to you, THE CLOSER).
My five favorite summer shows this year:
BURN NOTICE – Ever since my visit to the set, I feel connected to this show. I’ve had the chance to spend time with the people that make the show possible, so to me, that makes season 2 even more spectacular than season 1. Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) is a great character – he’s sarcastic, which is perfect for me – I sometimes feel like sarcasm should be my middle name. I love Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar, who I can’t say enough good things about) and I think she’s even better this season than last. No one compares to Sam (Bruce Campbell) and, say what you will about Madeline (Sharon Gless), I think she’s a fantastic character. I have enjoyed every episode of Season 2 so far. It’s funny, whip smart, and just an easy way to pass the time. I understand the plight of viewers who think the Carla thing has dragged on a bit too far, but I personally am on the edge of my seat, waiting to see how the mid season “finale” goes (since we’ll get more BURN NOTICE in January this year) and what more we find out about the mysterious Carla (Tricia Helfer).
