dexter esquire

With the third season premiere of DEXTER now exactly one month away, theTVaddict.com is thrilled to be able to finally unveil all four DEXTER parody covers that Showtime is rolling out in order to promote the return of America’s favorite serial killer this fall.

For more Dexter Morgan on the cover of ‘The New Yorker,’ ‘Wired,’ and ‘Rolling Stone’ simply click the link below and enjoy.

More importantly, don’t you dare risk the wrath of Dexter, not to mention an angry TV Addict by missing the season premiere on September 28 at 9PM on Showtime [TMN in Canada]. Because in case you haven’t heard, something so big, so intense and so secretive occurs within the season opener’s final few minutes that it will change Dexter’s life forever. Or as Michael C. Hall put it during the recent panel at Comic Con, “Dexter alongside Jimmy Smits’ new District Attorney will set into motion a plan that they won’t ever be able to come back from.”

Spotlight on DEXTER Star Michael C. Hall

July 29, 2008 By theTVaddict 2 Comments

michael c hall interview dexter

At the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour, DEXTER star Michael C. Hall was kind enough to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule to discuss the upcoming third season of Showtime’s critically acclaimed thriller DEXTER.

On the books: “I read the first book as the first season was based on it. But I haven’t read subsequent books because seasons two and three have all been based on what the writers have been able to come up with.”

On portraying America’s favorite serial killer: “I was making a joke earlier [at the DEXTER TCA Panel], but I must say that certain members of my family seem to be more comfortable with me simulating serial murder than simulating a gay relationship with a black man [on SIX FEET UNDER].”

Comic Con Live Blog: DEXTER

July 24, 2008 By theTVaddict 5 Comments

5:54PM: This afternoon’s DEXTER panel is hosted by the show’s number one fan, E! Online’s Kristin, who swears her love of the show is genuine and that she’s not on Showtime’s payroll. The panel starts off with a chilling trailer for season three, which you can check out by clicking here and with Michael C. Hall discussing our new Assistant District Attorney, and possible future victim of Dexter’s, Miguel Prado. Played by Jimmy Smitts, Prado is a man“committed to family values, committed to cleaning up the streets.” And more importanatly, may be Dexter’s first real ‘friend.’

6:01PM: Executive Producers Melissa Rosenberg and Clyde Phillips reveal that season three will focus on Dexter taking “Harry’s Code” and turning it into his own. Rosenberg and Phillips also reveal that Lundy won’t be back and Deb will be back on the market.

6:03PM: Apparently Deb will have a normal relationship but not with whom you expect. Translation, this TV Addict’s going to go out on a limb and guess that Deb will be switching teams this season. I mean can you blame her. The second to last guy she dated tried to kill her!

6:05PM: Ex-BUFFY/ANGEL star Julie Benz would love to work on Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE. Shocker! Julie asks us to start an internet rumor. Which on a totally unrelated note reminds me…. anyone else hearing that Julie Benz has been offered a guest spot on Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE?

TCA 2008: Showtime’s DEXTER, WEEDS, CALIFORNICATION and BROTHERHOOD

July 18, 2008 By theTVaddict 1 Comment

Talk about Showtime!

The little network that could, or as we around theTVaddict.com are now calling it — HBO 2.0 — decided to pull out all the stops my rolling up the WEEDS, CALIFORNICATION, DEXTER and BROTHERHOOD panel into one enormous joi…. ummm fantastic panel.

Heck, even one of the executives joked, “This is the Showtime mixer!” Granted, I’ve never seen Brotherhood, but at least I hear it’s good. The other shows I can vouch for. And I admittedly had a chill go up my spine when Michael C. Hall walked onto the stage. How can people not be afraid that this guy is going to stick a knife in their backs?

What’s really impressive was how much everyone looked like they had tried to dress like their characters, except Michael C. Hall who wore a sharp suit. David Duchovny was wearing a black button up shirt with a wrinkled black sportcoat, and Mary Louise Parker had on a sharp little cocktail dress and looked radiant in her gleaming white skin. How she’s lived in California all this time and not become tan, I’ll never know. She’s sitting on the far left, right next to David Duchovny, who’s sitting next to Michael C. Hall, who’s sitting next to Jason Clarke in an awesome row of Showtime star power.

First Look: DEXTER Goes to Comic Con

July 11, 2008 By theTVaddict 3 Comments

dexter comic book

TheTVaddict.com is thrilled to offer up a first look at the original poster Showtime has commissioned graphic artist Shepard Fairey to create in honor of DEXTER’s first appearance at July’s upcoming San Diego Comic Con.

If the style looks familiar, it’s because Fairey just so happens to be the talented artist behind this now iconic Obama poster.

And on the off chance you were concerned, the TV addict has it on good authority that no actual blood was used in the creation of this poster! Phew.

DEXTER Casting Scoop

June 5, 2008 By theTVaddict Leave a Comment

According to Roger Catlin’s TV Eye, Jimmy Smits will be joining the cast of DEXTER when the show returns this fall for its highly anticipated third season.

Smits will portray an ambitious and charismatic assistant district attorney named Miguel Prado, who will join forces with Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan as they pursue “a murderer who affects both of their lives directly,” according to a press release sent by Showtime.

So with that in mind, let the wild speculation begin. Will Miguel Prado end up on the wrong end of Dexter Morgan’s special brand of justice? Be another ‘father figure’ for Deb? Or end the season off by announcing his Presidential Campaign!

Post away with your theories.

Random Musings: Jason Castro, THE BIG BANG Theme, Download DEXTER

May 7, 2008 By theTVaddict 5 Comments

Following last night’s installment of AMERICAN IDOL, two things are abundantly clear. For one, cool hair does not equate to talent. And more importantly, both of Jason Castro’s ridiculously amateurish performances were a cry for help. So much so that we’re pretty sure Castro has already heeded Simon’s advice and, “packed his suitcase,” at least emotionally. Here’s hoping America makes it happen.

Aside from Jim Parsons’ Emmy—worthy portrayal of Sheldon, one of the highlights of THE BIG BANG THEORY is the incredibly catchy theme song courtesy of Canada’s own Barenaked Ladies. So imagine my glee when I learned that ‘The Big Bang Theory Theme’ is actually available on iTunes. Which means for a mere 99¢ you too can experience a really catchy albeit brief one minute and forty-five second history of the world. But fair warning, you’ll be uttering the words, “it all started with a big bang” for the rest of the day.

Did you happen to jump on the DEXTER bandwagon courtesy of CBS and are totally wondering what happens next after Sunday’s phenomenal first season finale? Well, thanks to Showtime you can catch the first episode of the second season for FREE, online right now by clicking here. Or you can download the entire season on iTunes. Not quite 99¢, but the best $23.88 you’ll spend all day.

Not into spending money today? Why not get something for free! Simply head on over to theREELaddict.com and enter yourself in a contest to win one of two copies of the complete INDIANA JONES ADVENTURE COLLECTION on DVD.

CBS Picks up DEXTER

January 7, 2008 By theTVaddict 12 Comments

Forget Raymond, America’s about to find out what this TV Addict has been saying for 2 years. Everybody Loves DEXTER. Starting February 17, the critically acclaimed first season of Showtime’s highest rated show will begin airing Sundays at 10PM on CBS.

“We’re thrilled to have the chance to expose DEXTER to a wider audience on CBS,” said Robert Greenblatt, President, Entertainment, SHOWTIME Networks.  “I think it will be very compatible with their lineup as well as be a great opportunity to promote our brand on a platform that reaches every home in America.”
