Dexter: Dex, Lies and Videotape

Dexter Morgan may be a lot of things. But following tonight’s phenomenal episode, there’s one thing we’re sure he’s not — a television fan.

If he was, he would have certainly uttered the five magic words in order to save his relationship with Rita.

“We were on a break!”

That said, we’ll forgive Dexter for forgetting one of the most infamous FRIENDS references ever. After-all, between his burgeoning relationship with the world’s hottest AA sponsor [the mysterious Lila] to his far more important job of staying one step ahead of Doakes, Lundy and the entire Miami Police squad, America’s favorite serial killer is one busy guy.

Which naturally begs the question. Who’s going to be the first to discover the truth about Dexter’s extra curricular activities? While Lundy seems to be inching closer and closer, with Doakes right behind, this TV Addict’s money is on Deb. Not only does she need to make up for the fact she practically married the Ice Truck Killer, it will make for a far more interesting story if Deb has to decide whether or not to turn on her own brother.

DEXTER Kills in the Ratings

It took a year, but it seems as though television fans have FINALLY clued into what this TV Addict [pictured above with Michael C. Hall] has been shouting from the rooftops for a year. DEXTER is the best show on television. According to the Hollywood Reporter, “more than 1 million total viewers tuned in to the drama series which marks the first time on record that the season premiere of a Showtime series has broken the million-viewer mark for a single run (Nielsen didn’t begin reporting Showtime ratings separate from Showtime Plex until 2004).” Now the only question remaining, who do we have to kill what do we have to do to get another million or two viewers next week?

DEXTER Returns, So Do Spoilers

After far too long a hiatus, Showtime’s brilliant original series DEXTER returns tonight for what is shaping up to be a killer second season.

Having already seen the season’s first four episides, this TV Addict is thrilled to report that DEXTER managed to avoid the frequent sophmore slump that plagued our favorite HOUSEWIVES and LOST castaways. Season two of DEXTER ratchets up the emotion and suspense, as America’s favorite serial killer must deal with the aftermath from last season bloody finale and complications that ensue from the discovery of the “Bay Harbor Butcher” [gulp!].

First Look: DEXTER Season 2

After far too long a wait, DEXTER — last season’s most addictive new drama returns to Showtime this September. While spoilers are scarce as to what fans can expect from the upcoming season, Executive Producer Daniel Cereone did reveal this at March’s Paley Festival Panel:

“Going into the second season we think we have something equally compelling [as the Ice-Truck Kilelr]. Basically Dexter’s search for meaning. Who am I? What is my purpose? Ultimately leading to questions of good and evil. This season we want to bring that question to the forefront. Why is he here? Who is he? What is his purpose?” Added Harry’s fictional father James Remar, “Harry’s Badddd.”
