Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Cool TV-Related Comic Con News!

July 23, 2010 By theTVaddict 1 Comment

Awesome poster design!
With apologies in advance to the team of highly paid marketing and design experts who more than likely spent the better part of the past two months leading up to Comic Con holed up in a conference room creating the “Official” War Games-inspired poster for CHUCK, our vote goes to super-fan Ivette Gonzalez, whose submission to the 2010 CHUCK Comic-Con Poster contest won her a much-deserved runner-up accolade for her minimalist and clever approach.

July 7, 2010 By theTVaddict 13 Comments

With less than twenty-four hours until the 2010 Emmy nominations are announced (which by the way, we’ll be live blogging bright and early starting at 8:30AM est tomorrow) — we at theTVaddict.com, against our better judgement, have decided to go out on a limb and put our picks for tomorrow’s lucky nominees on the record. Ask the Addict: Spoilers for TRUE BLOOD, GLEE, LIE TO ME & More!

June 2, 2010 By theTVaddict 6 Comments

Because waiting until the June 13 premiere, for lack of a better word SUCKS, I’m gonna need some TRUE BLOOD scoop! — Marlee
The TV Addict: Okay, here’s the deal. Despite having already had the pleasure of sinking our teeth into the first three episodes of the new season, we are not the least bit interested in spoiling one of the summer’s true delights that is BLOOD’s trademark oh-no-they-didn’t-just-do-that moments by revealing, say… the circumstances surrounding Eric and Sookie’s first face-to-face of the season! What we will say is that creator Alan Ball may have spent a little too much time during his hiatus online because one particular scene from the premiere reads as if it was ripped directly from some very dirty wishful fan fiction.

As an enormous fan of the books, I’m counting down the days until the premiere of PRETTY LITTLE LIARS. Have you seen the pilot? And if so, what did you think? — Madison
The TV Addict: ABC’s Family’s newest summer offering is GOSSIP GIRL, meets Cruel Intentions with a dash of I Know What You Did Last Summer thrown in for good measure. Better still, complete with scantily clad teenagers, sexy British imports, and copious amounts of scandal (You would not believe what PRIVILEGED alum Lucy Hale does with a teacher. Seriously. JoAnna Garcia would not approve!), PRETTY LITTLE LIARS — which premieres June 8 at 8PM — is well on its way to becoming our official choice for this summer’s guiltiest pleasure.

Your TV Tech Fix: Google TV To Invade Your Living Room. Should You Care?

May 27, 2010 By Matt Whitlock Leave a Comment

A little less than a week ago, Google, the company known for shaking things up did just that by unveiling their new service called Google TV. Their goal: “combine the TV you know and love with the freedom and power of the Internet.”

Now I’ve been asked several times what my thoughts are when it comes to Google invading the living room TV, because no one is really sure whether or not the search giant can succeed where so many others haven’t. The web and the TV united is like the holy grail – whoever manages to pull it off will rule the world. For those not really in tune with the tech world, here’s a few TV related analogies to give you an idea of how ‘big’ it would be:

Snap Judgments: BODY OF PROOF, DETROIT 1-8-7, MY GENERATION, NO ORDINARY FAMILY, OFF THE MAP, THE WHOLE TRUTH, BETTER TOGETHER, HAPPY ENDINGS & MR. SUNSHINE

May 18, 2010 By theTVaddict 8 Comments

BODY OF PROOF
According to the ABC official Description: Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) was in a class of her own, a brilliant neurosurgeon at the top of her game.  Her world is turned upside down when a devastating car accident puts an end to her time in the operating room.  Megan resumes her career as a medical examiner determined to solve the puzzle of who or what killed the victims.  Megan’s instincts are sharp, but she’s developed a reputation for graying the lines of where her job ends and where the police department’s begins.  It turns out her career isn’t the only thing that will need to be rebuilt; Megan’s family has taken a backseat to her ambition, and now she’ll discover there’s a lot of work to do when it comes to dissecting her relationships with the living.

Dana Delany stars as Dr. Megan Hunt, Jeri Ryan as Dr. Kate Murphy, Geoffrey Arend as Dr. Elliot Gross, John Carroll Lynch as Detective Bud Morris, Windell Middlebrooks as Dr. Curtis Brumfield, Nic Bishop as Peter Dunlap and Sonja Sohn as Detective Samantha Baker.

According to the TV Addict: WIth a Friday timeslot and a premise a little too familiar (It’s HOUSE meets BONES with a dash of EVERWOOD thrown in for good measure!) this Dana Delany fan is kinda hoping that DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES creator Marc Cherry wasn’t kidding when he told the actress, “I would love for you to have your own show so go do it and if it doesn’t work out we’ll have a place for you here [back on Wisteria Lane].”

Snap Judgments: LONESTAR, RUNNING WILDE, TERRA NOVA, RIDE-ALONG, MIXED SIGNALS, BOB’S BURGERS and RAISING HOPE

May 17, 2010 By theTVaddict 7 Comments

LONESTAR
According to the FOX official Description: LONESTAR, a sophisticated and provocative drama set against the sprawling backdrop of big Texas oil, will premiere this fall. From Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman (“Party of Five”), writer Kyle Killen and directed by Marc Webb (“(500) Days of Summer”), the compelling series stars newcomer James Wolk as a charismatic and brilliant schemer who has entangled himself in a deep, complex web from which he can’t break free. He’s caught between two very different lives and two very different women.

According to the TV Addict: “A sophisticated and provocative drama set against the sprawling backdrop of big Texas oil” is totally code for primetime soap. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Snap Judgments: NBC Picks Up THE CAPE, OUTLAWS, HARRY’S LAW & FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS

May 14, 2010 By theTVaddict 5 Comments

According to the NBC official description: THE CAPE is a one-hour drama series starring David Lyons (“ER”) as Vince Faraday, an honest cop on a corrupt police force, who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. He is forced into hiding, leaving behind his wife, Dana (Jennifer Ferrin, “Life on Mars”) and son, Trip (Ryan Wynott, “Flash Forward”). Fueled by a desire to reunite with his family and to battle the criminal forces that have overtaken Palm City, Faraday becomes “The Cape” his son’s favorite comic book superhero — and takes the law into his own hands. Rounding out the cast are James Frain (“The Tudors”) as billionaire Peter Fleming – The Cape’s nemesis – who moonlights as the twisted killer: Chess; Keith David (“Death at a Funeral”) as Max Malini, the ringleader of a circus gang of bank robbers who mentors Vince Faraday and trains him to be The Cape; Summer Glau (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) as Orwell, an investigative blogger who wages war on crime and corruption in Palm City; and Dorian Missick (“Six Degrees”) as Marty Voyt, a former police detective and friend to Faraday.

According to this TV Addict: You only get one chance to make a good first impression, which, thanks to the epic fail that is the above promotional photo, THE CAPE most definitely does not do. Add to that a premise that sounds like some NBC exec was a little too fond of CBS’ cheestacular 90’s reboot of THE FLASH (not that there’s anything wrong with that says the TV Addict who owns the complete series on DVD) and we have to ask ourselves the slightly awkward albeit painfully obvious question for any show that involves Summer Glau: When is too soon to start a “Save Our Show” campaign?
