Sunday is the season premiere of The Girls Next Door on E! at 10/9c. It’s Independence Day at the mansion. What will the women get into now?
Tonight is also the series premiere of Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood on E! at 10:30/9:30c. The rapper’s family life is seriously funny business; the doors of the Dogg Pound will be thrown open wide. hah
If you were a fan of Saved By the Bell and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, check out Holiday in Handcuffs, starring Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez. It’s on ABC Family at 8/7c and is about a waitress that kidnaps a customer and forces him to pretend to be her beau to fool her parents. I adore both of them, so I can’t wait!

If last night’s episode of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES felt almost like a season-ending cliffhanger, what with the unanswered questions of who lived and who died, then you’ll understand why ABC is making that the last new episode to air until the resolution of the writers strike. Although they have another episode in the can, what better way to make sure people are excited to tune back in following what may well be an endless spat of reruns than leaving the fate of several characters up in the air? Meanwhile, I have to admit I was secretly tickled pink when Mrs. McCluskey called Lynette out on being a friend-in-need. I’ve thought for the longest time that Lynette is a God-awful mom… the kind we’d all dread to have as a neighbor. Oh, and how funny was it that the tornado took out the fountain which caused so much debate in the hood? But those scenes in which Victor picked up a gun and chased Carlos as cars fell from the sky was reminiscent of the worst scenes in Titanic, when Billy Zane ignored the fact the unsinkable boat was doing just that in favor of chasing his rival around.
One of the things I absolutely love about DEXTER is the fact that week after week, the show puts our serial-killing lead in the tightest spots since THE PERILS OF PAULINE, leaving us to wonder how on God’s green earth he’ll get out of each one. Better, the show then offers up regular emotional shocks, such as last night’s final-scene revelation in which Dex’s world was turned upside down when he learned the truth about adopted dad Harry’s death. Whoa. I’ll admit to having been worried when psychobabe Lila was kept on the canvas once Dexter dumped her, but watching her mess with Angel leaves me hoping that she gets everything she deserves. I’ll even conceded that Doakes, whom I’ve hated from the very beginning because of his one-note nature, scored a few points with me last night. Or rather, the writers scored points by finally making me understand at least a little bit better their determination to keep him wildly unlikeable: Seeing his steely facade crack as Dexter’s deviously dark plan for him unfolds has been positively spine-chilling.
Did anybody else catch the commercials Charmin has been running memorializing the late, much loved Dick Wilson, better known to millions as the toilet paper-squeezing Mr. Whipple. It’s not often that an advertisement can fill you with sentimentality, but this one certainly has that impact on me. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but Wikipedia claims that Wilson appeared in over 500 commercials for Charmin, allowing him the luxury of working only 12 days a year and still earining approximately $300,000 a year. Based on the feeling of good-will I felt toward Charmin upon seeing the farewell ad, I’d say they got their money’s worth.

The TV Addict: This week, We figured out how to SAVE HEROES, slammed TVGuide’s Michael Ausiello for comparing DEXTER to OCTOBER ROAD and gave kudos to FOX’s marketing savvy with regards to TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES
BuzzSugar: We got all pumped over these prequels to The Wire, debated whether Showtime shows could work on CBS, and asked for votes on the best new TV character of ’07.
Glowy Box: Liz celebrated a new season of crazy bitchitude with Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency, reveled in a fantastic episode of Scrubs, and tried to keep up with all the action on this week’s sweeps-worthy Desperate Housewives.
Daemon’s TV: This week Sandie shared some promo posters for FOX’s new show, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Araya shared some of his thoughts on the finale of Heroes, and is wondering if he spoke too fast about 30 Rock being back on track.
Funniest 30 Minutes of the Week: 30 ROCK
If you are [for some inexplicable reason] still somewhat skeptical that writers are worth the money — look no further than this week’s 30 ROCK. Tina Fey is the new Jerry Seinfeld. And assuming Ben Silverman plays his cards right — the saviour of NBC.
Life Lesson #1 of the Week: DEXTER
Thanks to DEXTER, fans everywhere now know the number one rule when covering up a crime. Don’t leave the evidence in your apartment.
Life Lesson #2 of the Week: FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
The #2 rule: Don’t walk into a police station and confess to a crime nobody knew you committed. Landry you’re killing us! Sorry, bad choice of words. But seriously. Things are not looking good for you.
Big Disappointment of the Week: NEGOTIATIONS
The fact that the WGA and the AMPTP didn’t even come close to reaching an agreement.
Bigger Disappointment of the Week: CARSON DALY CROSSES THE LINE
To protest Daly crossing the picket line, this TV Addict is officially on strike from watching LAST CALL WITH CARSON DALY. Which would undoubtedly have a larger impact assuming we ever watched the show to begin with.
Biggest Disappointment of the Week: HOUSE’S CUTTHROAT BITCH
Cutthroat Bitch we hardly new ya. And what we did know, we’ll miss. We can only hope you somehow contract a mysterious disease that ensures you find your way back to the hospital — and soon. ![]()
Welcome to a new week for This Week on TV! Welcome also to the first week of December! Let’s see what’s on this week, ok? (Btw, thanks to tedder for the info on the new shows I’m putting in!)

Sunday is a night of great specials and finales. First up is a great 2-hour tv movie called Pictures of Hollis Woods on CBS at 9/8c. It’s about a 12-year-old girl who lives her life in the foster care system until she meets a former art teacher who understands her and gives her unconditional love. It stars Alfre Woodard (Betty Applewhite on Desperate Housewives), James Tupper (Jack on Men in Trees!), Sissy Spacek, Jodelle Ferland (from the movie Silent Hill and guest star on quite a few shows, such as Stargate SG-1 as Adria at age 7) & Ridge Canipe (a young Dean on Supernatural).
Next is the 1-hour Comedy Central special, Comedy Central’s Last Laugh ’07 starring Lewis Black, at 10/9c. Comics reflect on the past year; hosted by Lewis Black.
The last special tonight is the first 2-hours of the 3-part mini-series on SciFi called Tin Man at 9/8c. From The Futon Critic: “A sometimes psychedelic, often twisted and always bizarre take on ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ SCI FI’s Tin Man is the epic tale of DG, a young woman plucked from her humdrum life and thrust into The Outer Zone (the O.Z.) – a fantastical realm rife with wonder, but oppressed by dark magic. In the adventure of a lifetime, DG discovers her true identity, battles evil winged-monkey-bats, and attempts to fulfill her destiny. Her perilous journey begins on the fabled Old Road that leads to a wizard known as the Mystic Man. Along the way, she is joined by a decidedly strange trio of companions – “Glitch,” an odd man missing half his brain; “Raw,” a quietly powerful wolverine-like creature longing for inner courage, and “Cain,” a heroic former policeman (who are known in the O.Z. as “Tin Men”) seeking vengeance for his scarred heart. Ultimately, DG’s destiny leads her to an emotional and terrifying showdown with the scintillatingly wicked sorceress Azkadellia, whose ties to DG are closer than anyone could have imagined. DG’s life, as well as the very future of the O.Z., hang in the balance.” This should be awesome. I’ve heard it described as a combination of Battlestar Galactica, Heroes and Pushing Daisies. haha Excellent!

Welcome to a new week for This Week on TV! I hope all of the Americans had a great Thanksgiving! I’m at my mom’s house writing this, on my hubby’s laptop, so it’s a bit hard to type. Hopefully it won’t take me too long to get this going. But let’s see, shall we?

Sunday is the season premiere of The Simpsons on FOX at 8/7c. *laugh* I have no idea why last week was the finale and this week is the premiere. I don’t write the words, I just copy the schedule. 😉 Just enjoy the new episode!
Tonight also is a 2-hour new episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition on ABC starting an hour early, at 7/6c. Tonight is the 100th family that they have helped, so watch as they build quite a large house for a new family of ten. Four children were orphaned when their father died in 2001 and their mother was murdered by her ex-boyfriend and they are now being raised by their mother’s sister and her family.

On this cold and chilly Thanksgiving Thursday in Toronto Canada, the TV Addict is going to put aside his holiday jealousy [being Canadian, there’s no parade for us today!] and spend a few minutes talking about what I’m thankful for in the world of Television.
To the readers of theTVaddict.com. Without all of you — my fellow TV Addicts — this fake job would be far less exciting. I wish you all the best this Holiday season and look forward to many more seasons to come.
Special extra holiday thanks to Amrie, Jenny, Joanna, Tim G and C.T. for taking time out of their busy lives to share their TV Addiction with all of us. Your passion and dedication for the small screen make me, and thousands of readers smile every week .
Thanks to the writers, creative team, actors and crew of every single one of the TV Addict’s favorite shows. Without your incredible work, theTVaddict.com would be a blank page.
Thanks to the cast of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS for finally giving us something worth watching on Friday nights.
Thanks to ABC for picking up DIRTY SEXY MONEY for an entire season. No one delivers lines like Natalie Zea’s Karen Darling. Last night’s quote of the night, “It’s so her to come along, isn’t it?”
Thanks to the cast of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER for giving this TV Addict a reason to look forward to Mondays.
Thanks to Cait at Fox, Winson at the WB and Courtney from NMS for giving this TV Addict three incredibly unique opportunities this year. The Fox Fall 2007 Launch Party will never be forgotten.
Thanks to all the new friends I’ve made in the world of television blogging. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one online with a slightly unhealthy addiction to television.
Thanks to Ari and Renessa for listening to my podcast rambling. And to all of you for listening.
Thanks to my favorite fictional BROTHERS & SISTERS. I laugh just thinking about how many bottles of wine will be consumed in the Walker household this weekend.
Thanks to Tina Fey for being the coolest woman on TV and making smart sexy again.
Thanks to FX for recognizing the brilliance of DAMAGES. Renewing it for not only one, but two seasons.
Thanks to Showtime for stepping out of HBO’s shadow. DEXTER, WEEDS, CALIFORNICATION… what’s next?
Best of the Week #1: HEROES
I’m sure I’m not alone in this; HEROES was finally good again! After all this time it was nice to see what happened to everyone. It was also darker, no more fairy tales from the old days. To me, it felt like good old HEROES again. I’m even more interested in Alejandro and Maya now; that family massacre was quite impressive. I didn’t expect that, just like I didn’t expect to see that D.L. was killed the old fashioned way. I like to be surprised by my shows, and for the first time since the end of season one, HEROES managed to accomplish that.
Best of the Week #2: HOUSE
Even though the concept of reality TV within a scripted show has been done several times before, it was still brilliant. Especially the edited clip at the end of the episode, that’s exactly how I feel about reality TV. It’s more fake than any other kind of show! I also loved the scene in which House realized he’s not superior to all other men, that he is in fact just another testosterone pumping idiot who hires women based on their appearance rather than their brains. I still miss our first generation of ducklings, but I guess I’m adjusting to the new HOUSE.
Best of the Week #3: DEXTER
Wow, Dexter’s new girlfriend is even more psycho than he is. Still though, I thought she was more suitable for Dexter than Rita ever will be. Rita would never understand him, should the truth come out. It’s only a matter of time before Dexter wiggles his way out of this one though, this girl has reinvented the ‘freak show’. It was great to see Dexter manipulate Dokes right out of a job, though I think setting off the fire alarm was beneath him. But I guess he thought so himself too. Did anyone else download Chopin’s Nocturne after that episode, by the way? I did. Guilty as charged.

Welcome to a new week for This Week on TV! Some good news this week! Dirty Sexy Money was given a full season pickup and the negotiations are back on for the strikers. Yay! Cross your fingers, that’s for sure! Now, let’s see what’s on this week…

Sunday is the season finale of The Simpsons on FOX at 8/7c. A friendly comic-book buff (Jack Black) treats Bart, Lisa and Milhouse like royalty; Marge launches a gym for ordinary women.
