SURVIVOR! REVENGE! AWAKE! MAD MEN! The TV Addict Week in Rewind

March 2, 2012 By theTVaddict 1 Comment

Best Comeback, Primetime Division: For a hot minute there, it was looking as if the ladies of SURVIVOR were gonna be an embarrassment to women everywhere… until they came roaring back and won two challenges in a row.

Best Comeback, Daytime Division: Under new headwriter Ron Carlivati, GENERAL HOSPITAL had fans more excited about the beleaguered soap than they’ve been in years.

Most Unexpected Gift: Sarah Palin brought HBO more publicity than they could ever purchase by releasing a video slamming their upcoming biopic, GAME CHANGE.

Silliest Assumption: Entertainment Weekly, in breaking the news that Jessica Lange would play an entirely new character during season 2 of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, went on to say that “obviously” Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott” wouldn’t return because their characters had died. Two problems with that statement: First, it’s a show about ghosts! And secondly, anthology series’ such as AHS have a long history of using the same actors in different roles.

Worst Use Of A Cliffhanger: If ABC was going to go the entire month of March without new episodes of REVENGE, why not make the Fire & Ice party (in which Tyler was murdered and everyone was a suspect) the final outing before the break? [Read more…]

February 29, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

With a roll of the dice, NBC is throwing a very unique police procedural onto the television landscape – the premise involves a cop lives in two realities simultaneously:  one in which his wife is alive, and other in which his son is alive.  Unwilling to choose between them and experience the loss of either, Detective Michael Britten wakes up each day to a different world.  His worlds not only differ based on whether his wife or son is alive, but he has different partners on the job and is working different cases.  The mystery of which is real boggles the mind, and yet captivates as you become sucked into the special reality in which Michael Britten lives.  Taking a few minutes to chat with press in a recent conference call, star Jason Isaacs provided insight into this labyrinthine world and how he keeps it straight in his mind. Ask the Addict: Spoilers for GLEE, GREY’S ANATOMY, HART OF DIXIE, ONCE UPON A TIME, ALCATRAZ & More!

February 2, 2012 By theTVaddict 1 Comment

Your recent interview with HART OF DIXIE creator Leila Gerstein zapped this Zoe/Wade shipper of pretty much all hope for a season ending hook-up. Is there anything at all you can tell me to make me feel better? — Lisa
The TV Addict: Not really! What’s more, if you didn’t enjoy our recent one-on-one with Leila Gerstein, you’re really not going to like the one teensy little tidbit of information that we left out of the piece that alludes to the fact that mathematically speaking, one of your favorite DIXIE denizens is all but guaranteed to end the season with a broken heart. Revealed Gerstein, “Between Zoe, Lemon, Wade, George and Lavon there are an uneven number of boys and girls and someone is going to be left out in the cold. I know that.”

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I’m hoping you can give me some heartwarming news for those of us still rooting for Mark and Lexie on GREY’S ANATOMY. — Brenda
The TV Addict: Mark and Lexie fans will be happy to know that the two genetically-blessed doctors will be spending the most romantic day of the year together. Slightly less exciting is what they’ll be doing on Valentine’s day, which is babysitting for Meredith/Derek and Arizonz/Callie’s respective babies!

Any scoop on my favorite new series ONCE UPON A TIME? — Rich
The TV Addict: Do you happen to know an 11 to 14 year old girl who looks eerily like a young Ginnifer Goodwin? If so, get them to a talent agent STAT (!) because producers are currently on the look out for a young Snow White. (Legal Mumbo Jumbo: By accepting this bit of casting scoop you may-or-may-not have inadvertently promised theTVaddict.com 10% of any and all earnings should said aforementioned 11 to 14 year old girl turn into the next Dakota/Elle Fanning!) Ask the Addict: Spoilers for DEXTER, THE BIG BANG THEORY, HART OF DIXIE, DEGRASSI, TRUE BLOOD & More!

October 27, 2011 By theTVaddict 1 Comment

Please tell me this somewhat lacklustre season of DEXTER gets better? — Richie
The TV Addict: If by better you mean more bloody, you’ll certainly enjoy the unexpected shooting of one of this season’s special guest stars that occurs sometime during the next two episodes. And if you don’t, well, there’s always the final scene one week from this Sunday that — as much as we hate to employ such an overused term of “game changer” — really will turn Dexter’s world completely and 100% upside-down.

Any chance Penny might get a little love this season? As much as I enjoy THE BIG BANG THEORY, I’ve always found it somewhat illogical that the best Kaley Cuoco’s character can do is Leonard? — Dylan
The TV Addict: As someone who has also spent the better part of THE BIG BANG THEORY’s four seasons scratching our head over Penny’s lack of love life, you’ll be happy to know that an upcoming episode of the hit CBS series will finally see Penny meet someone out of her immediate nerdiverse. Cue Kenny, an aspiring screenwriter whom she meets in a coffee shop while helping Leonard get over his break up with… oops, we may have said too much!

Ever since you posted your fantastic recount of your time on the set of THE GOOD WIFE it’s been driving me crazy, what was Alicia and Jackie fighting about this time? — Sam
The TV Addict: Since we wouldn’t dare risk angering our good friends at CBS publicity by divulging the specifics of Alicia and Jackie’s latest head-to-head, we’ll simply say that the point of contention revolves around the Florrick offspring and the current controversy surrounding the status of their respective relationships. Channel Surfing: DEXTER, THE GOOD WIFE, ONCE UPON A TIME & More!

October 24, 2011 By theTVaddict 5 Comments

As someone who has always had a special affinity for DEXTER since the very beginning (Note: Not as creepy as it sounds, we promise!) we’re disappointed to admit that when it comes to summing up our feelings for the show’s much-anticipated current season, the best we can come up with is ‘conflicted.’ On the one hand, four weeks in, the show’s writing team deserves credit for managing to keep this aging series interesting by promoting Deb to Lieutenant, correcting last season’s wrong that was Laguerta and Angel’s marriage, and introducing a truly terrifying team of baddies (Edward James Olmos’ Professor Gellar and Colin Hanks’ Travis Marshall) into the mix. On the other — something that we can’t quite put our finger on — is missing. Whether it’s a symptom of the increasingly predictable nature of the show (Does anyone else have a feeling that Professor Gellar is to Travis what Harry is to Dexter?) or the fact that the astounding success of the series has all but eviscerated the once spine-tingling stakes for America’s favorite serial killer seeing as though Showtime isn’t about to put a knife in the back of its most popular property anytime soon, the simple fact of the matter is that this once must-watch-for-fear-of-being-spoiled-show has quietly devolved into yeah, we’ll-watch-it-when-we-get-around-to-it. #sad [Read more…]

“eClare” or “Cake”? DEGRASSI Star Aislinn Paul Reveals Her Dessert of Choice!

July 27, 2011 By theTVaddict Leave a Comment

From BEVERLY HILLS 90210’s Brandon or Dylan to THE VAMPIRE DIARIES’ Stefan or Damon, television has a penchant for sticking its small screen heroines between a [really good looking] rock and an [equally good looking] hard place. Which is precisely where Clare Edwards can be found during the sizzling summer season of DEGRASSI. But just who is her portrayer, Aislinn Paul, hoping her character chooses in the continued struggle to separate her feelings for her first love [Eli] and her potential next one [Jake]? We recently had the chance to catch up with the well-spoken and self-professed tumblr-addict on the set of DEGRASSI to find out just that. See for yourself, after the jump. [Read more…]

Ask the Addict: Spoilers for SUPERNATURAL, TRUE BLOOD, NIKITA, 90210 & More!

June 30, 2011 By theTVaddict Leave a Comment

As a 90210 fan who is still reeling from Naomi’s unexpected pregnancy reveal at the end of last season, I’m curious if you have any ideas as to just how the show plans on dealing with it come season 4? — Allie
The TV Addict: Assuming of course new showrunners Patti Carr and Lara Olsen bother to stick with last season’s somewhat out of left field baby bump bombshell, we can assure you that the pregnancy will have very little effect on Naomi. At least if the first two episodes of the season are any indication, which according to reports will not just see Naomi continue to be the life of the party, but do so in a manner that will catch the attention of both the authorities and the Dean of California University. Ouch!

Season 7 of SUPERNATURAL cannot come soon enough! Any scoop? — Noam
The TV Addict: Entitled “The Girl Next Door,” SUPERNATURAL’s much anticipated seventh season will kick off by not just introducing fans to an old flame friend of Sam’s, but will flashback to Sam and Dean’s teenage years where we’ll meet, as the episode’s title suggests, the girl next door… a beautiful girl who in typical SUPERNATURAL fashion harbours a terrible, emphasis on the terrible, secret. Snap Judgments: SMASH, PRIME SUSPECT, THE PLAYBOY CLUB, GRIMM, AWAKE, THE FIRM, WHITNEY, UP ALL NIGHT, FREE AGENTS, ARE YOU THERE VODKA? IT’S ME CHELSEA

May 16, 2011 By theTVaddict 4 Comments

SMASH
According to the Official NBC Description: SMASH is a musical drama that celebrates the beauty and heartbreak of the Broadway theater as it follows a cross-section of dreamers and schemers who all have one common desire — to be a “Smash.” The series centers on a desire to create a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe — written by the successful songwriting duo of Tom (Christian Borle, Legally Blonde: The Musical) and Julia (Debra Messing, WILL & GRACE). Julia recently began the process of adopting a child with her husband of many years, but her focus is torn when she has the opportunity to write another Broadway hit. A rivalry soon forms for the lead role between a youthful, inexperienced Midwestern beauty (Katharine McPhee, AMERICAN IDOL) — who is trying to find fame in the big city against all odds — and stage veteran (Megan Hilty, 9 to 5: The Musical), who’s determined to leave the chorus line and finally get her big break. A tenacious producer Eileen (Anjelica Huston, Prizzi’s Honor) discovers the “Marilyn” project and jumps on board with a brilliant director (Jack Davenport, Pirates of the Caribbean films) — whose talent is matched by his cunning and egocentric amorality.

Why We’re Excited: Based on an idea from some guy named Steven Spiel-something-or-other comes a new series executive produced by the talented twosome (Craig Zadan and Neil Meron) responsible for shepherding Chicago and Hairspray featuring original songs from Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can). In other words, aside from premiere date that has already been pushed back to January 2012, there is very little not to love about what is already becoming one of our most anticipated new shows of the Fall Winter season.

Why We Probably Shouldn’t Let Our Excitement Get the Better of Us: With the curtain being held until January 2012, there is an awful long time for what are potentially too many cooks in the kitchen (read: Network Brass and countless executive producers/creative types) to screw this up.
