Good News, Bad News: CHUCK, OPRAH, TRAUMA & More!

November 20, 2009 By theTVaddict 6 Comments

Good News: NBC has announced that CHUCK will return on January 10th with two back-to-back episodes before moving to its regular Monday at 8PM time-slot on January 11th. Bad News: For Morgan Grimes, whose girlfriend Anna Wu (Julia Ling) was conspicuously left off NBC’s announcement press release and appears to be a victim of NBC’s downsizing. [Ausiello]

Good News: After 25 years, THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW will come to an end on September 9, 2011. Bad News: For many Americans, who will soon be left scratching their head as to what books they should be reading and how to throw an intimate dinner party for eight on a budget. [EW]

Good News: NBC is bringing the lowly-rated TRAUMA back from the dead. Bad News: For the Peacock Network, whose desperate attempt to triage the bleeding that is their primetime lineup speaks volumes about their current woes. [TheLiveFeed]

Joss Whedon Responds to Our Open Letter!

October 23, 2009 By theTVaddict 6 Comments

When this TV Addict takes the time to pen an ‘Open Letter’ to the likes of Ronald D. Moore, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, the Winchester Brothers and Chace Crawford, we don’t really do so with the expectation that we’ll actually get a response from the subject. So you can imagine our surprise when Joss Whedon (via Whedonesque.com, the web’s undisputed source for all thing Whedon) not only took some time out of his busy schedule to post a response to yesterday’s Open Letter to Joss Whedon. But in doing so, proved once again — thanks to his innate ability to connect with his fandom on a personal level — why he is in fact destined to become the man to pioneer the first-ever hour-long web-only production.

Of course until that day comes, the auteur himself would really appreciate if you don’t lose hope and tune into DOLLHOUSE (TV Guide Magazine’s Matt Roush calls tonight’s installment “a dark powerhouse”). See for yourself after the jump.

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Things C.T. Knows He’ll Probably Be Crucified For Saying

October 13, 2009 By theTVaddict 11 Comments

leighton_meester

Leighton Meester is no Paris Hilton.
Sorry, but Meester’s latest track — “Somebody To Love” is an underproduced crap-fest that is far less catchy than Hilton’s I Want You or the Blondie-esque Stars Are Blind.

This should be SUPERNATURAL’s final season.
No, not because the quality has gone down or I’m bored with the show, but from a story-telling point of view it would make sense to save “the end of the world” for your last hurrah. BUFFY even joked in their musical episode about how commonplace the end of the world can become when our heroine sang “Apocalypse? We’ve all been there. The same old trips. Why should we care?” This is in no way to say that the Winchester boys should call it quits… just that armageddon is a tough act to follow.

NBC was right to boot GLEE from the parade.
Could it have brought younger viewers to a parade they’d never normally consider watching? You bet. But NBC is a business and let’s face it: If you’re Baskin-Robbins, you don’t invite Ben & Jerry to hand out samples in your lobby. Especially knowing that Ben & Jerry are selling something people actually want.

The Good, The Bad & The Unusable Sites On Which To Watch Your TV Favorites

October 7, 2009 By theTVaddict 16 Comments

Miss last night’s MELROSE PLACE? Want to get your gleek on with the cast of GLEE? Well, now more than ever, it’s simple to fire up your computer, head to a web site and catch up on everything you’ve missed or relive the moments you wish you hadn’t erased from the DVR. But how good are the sites? Special theTVaddict.com contributor CT take a quick look at some of the most popular outlets on which to play network executive by creating your own personal line-up!

HULU.COM
Two words: Hulu rocks (Unless of course you live outside of the United States which is an entirely different story for an entirely different day). From their kick-ass ad campaign to the best selection of current and past television shows — not to mention movies, including documentaries — the folks at Hulu have made themselves the best destination on the web for people lookin’ to kill a few hours. The site allows you to throw shows into a personal que, subscribe to favorite shows and — best of all — stop watching a show and, upon returning, have it pick up right where you left off, even if you don’t get back to it until days later. Plus, where else can you watch anything from 21 JUMP STREET to the animated RETURN TO THE PLANET OF THE APES? Yeah, like I said: Hulu rocks.
