Thursday marks the season premiere of Survivor on CBS at 8/7c. It should be a VERY interesting season. Favorites vs Fans. Weeeee!

Tonight is also the series premiere of 3 shows. First up is Last Restaurant Standing on BBC America at 9/8c. I’ve seen a show very similar to this based in Australia and it should pretty good! Couples compete to open & own their own new restaurant. But it isn’t just the same old reality show, so check it out!

Also tonight is the series premiere of Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew on MTV at 10/9c. Mario Lopez will host the exhilarating weekly series, and giving their feedback each week to the dance crews will be judges JC Chasez (N*Sync) and choreographer Shane Sparks (So You Think You Can Dance). With exclusive content on-air, online, on demand and on mobile, viewers will have the opportunity to learn more about the individual dancers in each crew and how to copy some of their intricate moves.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Lipstick Jungle on NBC at 10:01/9:01c. Based on the best-selling novel by Candace Bushnell (Sex and the City), this fun dramedy follows three high-powered friends as they weather the ups and downs of lives lived at the top of their game. It stars Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price, along with Paul Blackthorne (The Dresden Files) as Brooke Shields’ husband.

Also on tonight:

  • *Series Premiere* – Last Restaurant Standing – BBC America @ 9/8c
  • *Series Premiere* – Lipstick Jungle – NBC @ 10:01/9:01c

January 31, 2008 By theTVaddict 2 Comments

Thursday marks the season premiere of Lost on ABC at 9/8c.

Following that is the series premiere of Eli Stone on ABC at 10:02/9:02c. The show explores whether we can change the course of our lives in midstream. Today, the worst thing happened to mercenary attorney Eli Stone. A case made him care. As if that’s not hard enough for a soulless shark, Eli’s also hallucinating — larger-than-life visions of pop stars and his dead relatives. It stars Jonny Lee Miller (Tom on Smith) as Eli Stone himself, Victor Garber (Spy Daddy on Alias), Julie Gonzalo (Parker on Veronica Mars), Mat Letscher (Gavin on Good Morning, Miami), Natasha Henstridge (Commander-in-Chief & She Spies) & Loretta Devine (Adele Webber on Grey’s Anatomy).

Help Suggest a TV for the TV Addict

January 26, 2008 By theTVaddict 11 Comments

This Thursday January 31 is a truly exciting day for the TV Addict.

Not only does it mark the much anticipated fourth season premiere of LOST (alongside the series premiere of ELI STONE and the return of SMALLVILLE and SUPERNATURAL), it is moving day for the TV Addict. And with the big move comes the obligatory and much needed television upgrade. Suffice to say, my 37″ Sharp Aquos that currently resides in my bedroom simply won’t cut it in my brand new, moderately spacious living room.

With that in mind, I thought I’d open it up to my fantastic and far smarter readers. In the 42″ – 46″ family, what TV would you suggest? Got a favorite brand? LCD vs. Plasma? With so many brands, so many choices, in all seriousness — what’s a TV Addict to do?

CT’s Confession

January 16, 2008 By theTVaddict 23 Comments

Forgive me, TVAddict, for I have sinned.

Either that, or crappy shows have gotten a whole lot better than they once were. Yeah, let’s go with that. Because otherwise, I’m going to have to eat a bit of crow, and there’s nothing that gets stuck in my craw like crow.

That said, I have to admit that two shows which I’ve dissed in the past — one of which I even went so far as to declare my hatred for (earning myself the wrath of its disciples) — have won me over.

Now, let’s not get crazy. I’m not going to go around proclaiming my love of SUPERNATURAL and ONE TREE HILL. It’s not as if snocones are being dished out in Hell.

But I will admit that I’ve… warmed to them.

Especially SUPERNATURAL.

Our Strike Proof TV Guide: Night 2

January 3, 2008 By theTVaddict 12 Comments

strike proof tv guide 2

In a continued effort to remind the powers that be [yes, we’re talking to you Les Moonves] that intelligent TV fans will not sit idly by and mindlessly watch the endless hours of reality TV and reruns that are quickly replacing quality scripted dramas and comedies. This TV Addict will be posting our STRIKE PROOF TV GUIDE on a daily basis: Our guide to what we won’t be watching come 8PM tonight.

But first, what we will be watching.

SMALLVILLE and SUPERNATURAL have been classified as ‘must watch’ because tonight’s installments are new to us!

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for shows on ABC and CBS. As much as we love BETTY, GREY’S and HOUSEWIVES, we’ve already seen them — and Teri Hatcher was barely tolerable the first time.

Moving onto NBC, no DEAL on earth could get us to tune into the one-two-combo of Howie Mandell and Donald Trump. And while we don’t have anything against ER per-say, the return of Gloria Reuben might have been exciting, if this were 1999.

Finally a question for FOX. Exactly how many Tostitos Super Sugar Fiesta Bowl games are there? Bring on the HOUSE and BONES repeats!

Agree/Disagree? Post away with what you’ll be tuning into tonight. Have you caved already and decided to pick up — dare we say it — a book?

A Sneak Preview of TV 2008

January 2, 2008 By theTVaddict 6 Comments

Oh, sure, with the writers strike sticking around like Britney Spears at an open bar, the networks are keeping a tight lid on their top-secret plans for 2008. Fortunately, your pal CT is in the know. So here, without further ado, are the hush-hush plot twists set to rock your favorite shows if and when the strike ever resolves itself.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
After it’s revealed that her entire clan perished in that ratings stunt… er, tornado, Lynette cries for about three seconds before realizing that she’s been given a second chance. Quicker than you can say “extra pepperoni” she’s summoned Jason Gedrick — aka the only interesting thing about that stupid pizza parlor plot from a while ago — back for a little vo-de-oh-doh-doh. And expect jaws to drop when it turns out that gay neighbor Bob and Katherine Mayfair’s spouse, Adam, once shared a steamy history when both lived in a tiny Pennsylvania town called Llanview.

GOSSIP GIRL
My source on the set of the Upper East Side saga reveals that tongues will wag when it is revealed that Serena’s snippy grandma is actually the person behind the secret-spilling site which keeps tabs on N, B, C and the rest of the gang. That’s right… CeCe is GG!

LOST
Can’t wait three years to find out what will be revealed in the final episode? No need… because I’ve got the dirt. That scene in which Jack told Kate that they had to go back to the island and that leaving had been a huge mistake? What they didn’t show you was a demented fan (rumored to be none other than our pal Daniel, the TV Addict himself) standing just off-camera, holding a gun on Jack and demanding that the entire cast and crew head back to the island (aka Hawaii) and provide us with some damned answers ASAP!

SUPERNATURAL
Things will change forever where the Winchester boys are concerned after they cross paths with a vampire slaye and her bi-sexual Wiccan gal pal. Just as things heat up between Dean and the slayer, rumor has it a tall, dark and kinda monosyllabic vampire from her past will put in a most untimely appearance. Also, watch for a special Sweeps episode in which a demon shows the boys what life would have been like had they settled in a small Connecticut town with freakishly fast-talking residents.
