You Like Me… You Really Really Like Me!

April 26, 2007 By theTVaddict 2 Comments

Why am I quoting the incomprable Sally Field you ask? Well it turns out you DO like me, or at least someone does!

theTVaddict.com was just notified that we’ve been nominated in two categories at the 2007 Bloggers Choice Awards. Best Entertainment Blog and Best Podcast.

So here’s the deal folks. For over a year we’ve ‘suffered’ through meeting the cast of VERONICA MARS, the 2007 Paley Festival AND a visit to the set of SUPERNATURAL — all with the hopes of creating one of the most entertaining television websites on the net.

If you could take a moment to vote for theTVaddict.com for Best Entertainment Blog and Best Podcast it would truly make our day.

And if we win — we swear — VERONICA MARS will see a fourth season! No jokes, we really do have the power (to leave numerous strongly worded messages on Dawn Ostroff’s answering machine!)

Soap Stunner: PASSIONS Saved From Cancellation!

April 25, 2007 By theTVaddict 8 Comments

In a shocking twist worthy of the supernatural sudser, PASSIONS — recently cancelled by NBC — has risen from its premature grave. Earlier this morning, NBC Universal Television — the studio which produces PASSIONS — announced that the soap will end its NBC run with a cliffhanger-packed episode on Friday, September 7… and then return to the airwaves on Monday, September 17 with all new episodes. The only catch? The soap will be airing on DIRECTV. In other words, no satellite, no PASSIONS (although it remains unclear whether the episodes will be available on NBC’s website as is currently the case). The show will continue to air at 2 p.m. daily, although it will switch to four days a week as opposed to five, with a weekend marathon. Our fondest hope? That when the show makes the jump, headwriter James Reilly does not go along for the ride and instead new blood is brought in. Unless major changes occur behind the scenes to improve the quality of the stories being told, it seems likely that DIRECTV will quickly come to regret this expensive move.

Random TV Tidbits for a Monday

April 23, 2007 By theTVaddict 5 Comments

In a recent interview with the London Telegraph, X-FILES star Gillian Anderson had this to say when asked about the possibility of one day returning to TV, “Oh, shut the [bleep] up! Are you kidding me? My God, I don’t even watch television. I don’t like television. I never have liked it. The whole concept of sitting down in front of a TV feels like one of the things that’s destroying society, as far as I’m concerned.” Interestingly enough, when Anderson was on the X-FILES, it never seemed to bother her that she was making millions off the thing she now claims is ‘destroying society.’

The biggest mystery on Thursday’s Hollywood-themed episode of SUPERNATURAL didn’t have anything to do with demons, ghosts or spirits haunting the set of ‘Hell Razers II’. The question on every fans mind was how on earth did Sam and Dean escape from the clutches of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour? Having taken the WB tour myself, I truly believe you’re more likely to see an actual ghost with your own eyes than successfully escape from the ever watchful WB tour guide. Believe me, I tried!

Sunday is all about the 2 hour series premiere of Drive on FOX at 8/7c. The Shocking SAVE ONE SHOW Results

April 13, 2007 By theTVaddict 25 Comments

Running a website like the theTVaddict.com means I spend far too much time online in an attempt to keep up with what’s going on in the world of television. Subsequently, one thing I’ve learned this year is that SUPERNATURAL fans are insanely dedicated, much to my continued amazement — ONE TREE HILL has a vibrant internet fanbase and GILMORE GIRLS is on its last legs (or so I thought).

Yesterday, E! Online’s Kristin announced the winners of her annual SAVE ONE SHOW campaign. Fans across the globe (or perhaps just myself) were shocked to learn that GILMORE GIRLS and VERONICA MARS took the top prize (apparently this year we’re trying to save TWO show). While VERONICA MARS comes as no surprise, apparently I was under the mistaken impression that GILMORE GIRLS’ fans were in general, tired of the show’s direction and ready for it to end with a Luke and Lorelai happy ending. Do GILMORE fans not get that the shows return really doesn’t hinge on fan support and if we’re to believe the rampant speculation, an eighth season lies soley in the hands of stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel.

Conversely, shows like SUPERNATURAL and ONE TREE HILL, while not as popular in terms of total viewers, are comprised of a younger, more internet savvy audience. Thus my surprise as to their poor showings in Kristin’s poll.

While I have no doubt Kristin’s poll is completely and 100% legitimate. Take a look at the comparison between Kristin’s poll and theTVaddict.com’s. Obviously, theTVaddict.com’s sample is far smaller, but I feel it gives a more accurate representation of what shows truly should be saved.
