THE OFFICE! PARENTHOOD! SUPERNATURAL! SURVIVOR! Our TV Addict Week in Rewind

April 22, 2011 By theTVaddict 3 Comments

The Most Gleeful Moment of the Week Goes to… : Well, oddly enough, not so much GLEE, but rather THE OFFICE, whose denizens of Dunder Mifflin Sabre serenaded Michael Scott with their own version of “Seasons of Love” in a fond farewell tribute.

The Why-Can’t-Art-Imitate-Life Award Goes To… : SUPERNATURAL, for their brilliant episode in which puckish angel Balthazar (the pitch-perfect Sebastian Roche, perhaps best known as GENERAL HOSPITAL uber-baddie Jerry Jax) prevented the Titanic from sinking because “I hated the movie.”

Biggest Tearjerker: Suffice to say, the only thing that would have us reaching for the Kleenex more than Tuesday’s phenomenal wrap-up to PARENTHOOD’s second season will be if NBC fails to reward it for a third.

Worst Played Race Card Ever: SURVIVOR’s Philip said, “Any time somebody of my color gets up in one of your faces, then you feel like I’m a lunatic, I’m crazy.” Um, no, dude, anytime a person who is a lunatic gets up in someone’s face, people think they’re crazy.

PaleyFest 2011: SUPERNATURAL Dazzles Fans with Sneak Peaks, Spoilers and a few Surprises!

March 14, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt 1 Comment

For their second return visit to PaleyFest, SUPERNATURAL set out to charm and entertain their fans.  As if appearing in person before thousands of their most fervent fans was not enough, SUPERNATURAL began its presentation with a highlight reel, an extended clip from their recent episode “The French Mistake,” and a sneak preview of their upcoming episode “Frontierland” (where the Winchesters go back in time to retrieve the Colt).  It only amped up the excitement as thunderous applause and appreciate hollers were heard as each of the panelists then took the stage.  Appearing for this spectacular event were: creator/executive producer Eric Kripke, executive producer Sera Gamble, writer/director Ben Edlund and cast members Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins and Jim Beaver.

Unable to resist inquiring about the genesis of “The French Mistake,” moderator Maureen Ryan of AOL’s TVsquad asked what inspired the supernaturally-inclined show to tackle an episode where the actors portrayed themselves in an episode mingled with angels, demons and a whole lot of mixed-up universe mythology and fun.

Wanted: A Few Good Villains (For SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL & THE EVENT)

February 8, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt 2 Comments

If there is one thing that guarantees viewers glued to their televisions, it is a great villain.  Names such as The Trinity Killer, Sylar, T-Bag, Arvin Sloane and Benjamin Linus still echo in our brains as some of the greatest villains of the past decade.  Even after redemption, the names themselves send shivers down our spines and recall images of treachery, villainy and pure evil.  It is undisputed that villains bring fans together in unity and horror and water-cooler gossip.

Yet lately in the battle of good versus evil, a number of television shows have been missing one essential ingredient: a villain.

Genre and dramatic television shows thrive off conflict.  But in order for there to be conflict, it takes two sides — a good and a bad.  Yet looking across the television landscape, there seems to be a lot of shows scrambling to find their true villain; and from SMALLVILLE to SUPERNATURAL to THE EVENT, some television shows are adrift.

From CASTLE to SUPERNATURAL, Clothes Do Make the Man

January 20, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt 1 Comment

Just ask Chuck Bartowski, Richard Castle, or even the Salvatore Brothers — if you are going to sweep a woman off her feet, what you wear is important.

While wearing a simple white physician’s coat may work for some, like pretty boy Dr. Robert Chase on HOUSE, it is usually a better idea to dress-up a little to catch a woman’s eye — or better yet, dress the part.

Not every guy needs to be dressed the nines like the suave Salvatore Brothers of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES or wearing a debonair suit like Richard Castle in CASTLE, but wearing something that brings out one’s better side and adds to the sex appeal does give one an advantage.

Imagine if Castle wore blue jeans and t-shirts when visiting crime scenes — would Detective Kate Beckett have ever taken notice of his sly one-liners if he had come across so slovenly?  That is a resounding “no!”  It is Castle’s sense of style and panache that catches her eye; for he always dresses as if he were about to take Beckett out on a date.  Let that be a lesson to all men: you never know when the opportunity to ask a woman out may arise, so be prepared!

Your TV Guide Magazine Redesign Contest Update: SUPERNATURAL Fans Stand Up and Deliver!

December 10, 2010 By theTVaddict 7 Comments

Design By: Jaclyn E.

Full disclosure: When we first concocted the idea to have fans redesign this week’s “First Annual Fan Favorite” issue of TV Guide Magazine in response to their somewhat uninspiring cover, we were nervous. After-all, we’d look about as silly as the brains behind Comedy Central’s recent logo redesign if we publicized a contest that nobody entered. Thankfully, SUPERNATURAL fans did not disappoint. So much so that we wanted to offer up a sneak peek of some of the fantastic entries we’ve received thus far in an effort to remind fans that you still have one week to submit your redesigns. Click here for information on how to enter, and below for some awesome inspiration.

Redesign SUPERNATURAL’s TV Guide Magazine Cover and Win!

December 7, 2010 By theTVaddict 19 Comments

If four years of blogging about television has taught us anything, it’s that everybody’s a critic. Which is why, as much as we hate to be the one to rain on the SUPERNATURAL fandom’s parade — a fandom that deserves serious credit for mobilizing their troops in a successful bid to win TV Guide Magazine’s first ever Annual Fan Favorite Poll — we can’t help but echo the sentiments commentor Kelly who characterized the Magazine’s cover as “Way too 90210 and not nearly enough Winchester.”

Suffice to say, Jared [Padelecki] doing his best impersonation of a vapid male model, and Jensen [Ackles] channeling his inner Derek “Blue Steel” Zoolander doesn’t quite get across the message that these two demon-hunting butt-kicking brothers have saved the world from annihilation on more than one occasion. Cue… Extreme Makeover: TV Guide Magazine Edition.

Reflecting on CASTLE, SUPERNATURAL and PSYCH’s fun-filled television homages of TV shows past

December 7, 2010 By theTVaddict 3 Comments

By: Tiffany Vogt

Every now and then television decides to pay homage to other cult classic television shows, and if you saw a few of the recent episodes of CASTLE, SUPERNATURAL, and PYSCH, then you were in for a treat.

In the November 15th episode of CASTLE entitled “Close Encounters of the Murderous Kind,” Richard Castle and Detective Kate Beckett investigated the murder of a young research scientist who was killed in zero gravity conditions. All signs pointed towards an unearthly abduction and THE X-FILES Easter-eggs were carefully placed throughout the episode. And while there was a UFO encounter and abduction — it was by government agents, not aliens. There was also a fun nod to THE X-FILES companion series MILLENIUM, with Lance Henriksen making an appearance as the leader of an alien abduction support group, who wrote the book, “Taken By the Fourth Kind.” Whether it was Castle whistling THE X-FILES’ theme song or a cameo of a cigarette-smoking man, the show did a fun job giving homage to THE X-FILES.
