Exclusive Q&A: CW President Dawn Ostroff on the Future of SMALLVILLE and SUPERNATURAL

January 10, 2010 By theTVaddict 9 Comments

cw

Hold onto your hats SUPERNATURAL and SMALLVILLE fans, because from now until May, it’s going to be one helluva bumpy ride. And by that we mean, while Sam, Dean, Clark and Lois busy themselves with that whole pesky business of saving the world from evildoers on a weekly basis, far more sinister villains in the form of network executives (Yup, still bitter about EVERWOOD’s cancellation!) are busy plotting the real future of some of your favorite small screen heroes. Is this season truly the end of the road for SUPERNATURAL and SMALLVILLE? We cornered CW head honcho Dawn Ostroff at yesterday’s Television Critics Press Tour in Pasadena to find out.

The TV Addict’s Guide To Surviving… SUPERNATURAL’s Hiatus

January 7, 2010 By theTVaddict 8 Comments

Christine Temetri is the kinda gal the Winchester brothers would definitely do battle over. She’s sexy, funny and, perhaps best of all, she knows a whole lot about angels, demons and that whole nasty Apocalypse thing they’re currently trying to stave off. So while we may have to wait until Thursday, January 21, for SUPERNATURAL’s return to the CW, fans jonesin’ for a mix of witty banter and End Times action can head over to Amazon and check out Robert Kroese’s hysterically funny novel, Mercury Falls.

You Be the Critic: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, SUPERNATURAL, COMMUNITY, PARKS AND RECREATION, THE OFFICE, 30 ROCK, FLASH FORWARD, GREY’S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE, SURVIVOR, CSI and THE MENTALIST

November 20, 2009 By theTVaddict 11 Comments

Having not had the chance to watch even a single-frame of Thursday TV — short of an early sneak peek of last night’s FRINGE — this TV Addict finds himself once again passing the buck to all of you — my far smarter and better looking readers — to post away with your thoughts on last night’s instalments of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, SUPERNATURAL, COMMUNITY, PARKS AND RECREATION, THE OFFICE, 30 ROCK, BONES, FRINGE, FLASH FORWARD, GREY’S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE, SURVIVOR, CSI and THE MENTALIST.*

Full disclosure: We don’t actually watch SURVIVOR, CSI or THE MENTALIST, we’re just being polite!

November 6, 2009 By theTVaddict 19 Comments

WIth the notable exception of another hilarious instalment of 30 ROCK, a not-so-hilarious (save for Kelly Kapoor’s disapproving nod of approval) episode of THE OFFICE and a sadly very-underwhelming instalment of PARKS AND RECREATION this TV Addict is embarrassed to report that I’ve yet again sullied my self-proclaimed title of so-called TV Addict by missing out on most of our favorite Thursday night shows. Which is why, I’m once again passing the buck to all of you — my far smarter and better looking readers — to post away with your thoughts on last night’s instalments of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, SUPERNATURAL, COMMUNITY, PARKS AND RECREATION, THE OFFICE, 30 ROCK, BONES, FRINGE, FLASH FORWARD, GREY’S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE, SURVIVOR, CSI and THE MENTALIST.

First Look: Sam and Dean Go to a “Supernatural” Convention

October 29, 2009 By theTVaddict 4 Comments

the real ghostbusters supernatural

Now far be it from us to judge what is sure to be a hilariously-meta trip by Sam and Dean to a “Supernatural” convention after super-fan Becky tricks them. But having risked life and limb at more Comic Cons than we care to remember, we’re just gonna go ahead and say the guy-to-girl audience ration seems a wee bit off for an event spotlighting the continuing adventures of Sam and Dean. But hey, don’t take our word for it, check out more first look photos from November 12 episode of SUPERNATURAL entitled “The Real Ghostbusters” after the jump.

You Be the Critic: COMMUNITY, PARKS AND RECREATION, THE OFFICE, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, SUPERNATURAL, BONES, FRINGE, FLASHFORWARD, GREY’S ANATOMY & PRIVATE PRACTICE

October 9, 2009 By theTVaddict 14 Comments

With the notable exception of last night’s very-well-done, albeit slightly too long episode of THE OFFICE (Made all the shorter by me having to fast forward through Michael Scott’s too-painful-to-watch toast scene), I’m embarrassed to report that I’ve once again sullied my self-proclaimed title of TV Addict by missing out on all of our favorite Thursday night shows. Which is why I find myself standing before to say (a) For the sake of my sanity an dmy PVR I’m once again passing the buck to you all — my far smarter and better looking readers — to post away with your thoughts on last night’s installments of COMMUNITY, PARKS AND RECREATION, THE OFFICE, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, SUPERNATURAL, BONES, FRINGE, FLASHFORWARD, GREY’S ANATOMY & PRIVATE PRACTICE.

Your First Look at a Genuinely Terrifying SUPERNATURAL Guest Star

October 6, 2009 By theTVaddict 6 Comments

supernatural Paris hilton

When Sam and Dean decide to start hunting together again on this week’s episode of SUPERNATURAL, appropriately titled “Fallen Idol,” their first case leads them to a small town whose inhabitants are being killed by famous dead icons like Abraham Lincoln and James Dean’s car.  However, after two teenage girls come forward and claim their friend was kidnapped by Paris Hilton (in a cameo role as herself), the brothers aren’t sure what they are hunting anymore (Publicity machine? D-List celebrity? Really bad actress? Or all of the above? Heck, we’re cool with anything — including a special guest appearance by KATE PLUS EIGHT’s Kate as a demonic breeder — that gets the show some much deserved mainstream media attention)

supernatural spoiler pics free to be you and me

As any FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS SUPERNATURAL fan can attest to, star Jesse Plemons Jared Padalecki is a pretty hard guy to resist. Which is why, it probably should come as no surprise that this fall, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS star Adrianne Palicki will press pause on her burgeoning movie career to drop by FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS SUPERNATURAL for a mysterious late night rendezvous, reprising her role as Landry’s Sam’s girlfriend Jessica. Oh, and some guy named Lucifer also drops by, but that’s probably nothing to worry about! More photos of which can be found after the jump.

Reflections on a SUPERNATURAL Silver-Screen Showdown

September 3, 2009 By theTVaddict 9 Comments

As we anxiously await armageddon — aka the season premiere of SUPERNATURAL, airing at 9 p.m. E.T. on Thursday, September 10th — we thought this might be the perfect time to look back on the horror flicks Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki (aka those winsome Winchester boys) released earlier this year and decide whose manager deserves a raise… and whose should be demon bait!

Let’s say right up front that we thought it was an odd choice for both of the guys to make films in the horror genre during their respective breaks. Yes, sticking to what you know — not to mention what made you famous — is a no-brainer, but let’s not forget that it’s also the path that led Sarah Michelle Gellar to such crapfests as The Return and flicks. Trust us, guys: Next time, stretch your wings a little. Trust that your fans will follow.

In any case, both guys made not only horror flicks, but remakes of classic ones — Friday the 13th for Jared, My Bloody Valentine for Jensen — at that. And yes, some of us who grew up on the originals think of the original Valentine — shot on a shoestring budget back in 1981 — a classic. But the similarities between the projects they picked pretty much ends there.
