August 19, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

As fans of the Syfy series HAVEN already know, the key question to be answered this season is not who is Audrey Parker, but which of the many men in her life will she end up with.  After last week’s surprising reveal in which Audrey and Chris Brody (Jason Priestly) took their blossoming relationship to the next level, this week’s upcoming episode entitled “Audrey Parker’s Day Off” gives Audrey a chance to look at how much her competing love interests mean to her.  Given the chance (or perhaps curse) to relive the same day over and over again, Audrey assesses her relationships with Nathan, Duke and Chris.  Talking time out of her busy schedule to chat with press, Emily Rose candidly shared her perspective on the show and many loves of Audrey Parker. We Shine the Spotlight On Jillian Rose Reed from MTV’s New Hit Series AWKWARD.

August 16, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt 1 Comment

Jillian Rose Reed is breaking-hearts and stealing scenes as Tamara on the latest teen comedy series AWKWARD.  Offered the chance to play the vivacious red-head and best-friend of Jenna, the girl who everyone mistakenly thinks tried to commit suicide, Jillian leapt at the chance.  She happily exclaimed that when she first saw the AWKWARD. script she thought, “Oh my gosh! It was the funniest and most well-written script I had ever read!”  She was immediately drawn to the role and thought Tamara, while in a sense perceived as a bit crazy, that she was fun and relatable.  She loved getting the chance to portray the “quirky best friend.”  She also really admired Tamara’s sense of adventure.  As she gleefully noted, “She’s down for any adventure!” [Read more…]

Allison Scagliotti Previews the EUREKA/WAREHOUSE 13 Cross-Over Episodes and Reflects on Claudia’s Amazing Journey

August 15, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt 1 Comment

In tonight’s episode of WAREHOUSE 13, Douglas Fargo (played by Neil Grayston) returns to WAREHOUSE 13 for a fun adventure in the digital zone as a video game starts up a special game of its own with Claudia, Fargo, Pete and Myka as its principal players.  Taking a few minutes to chat with press about the episode, Allison Scagliotti talked about her expanding role as Warehouse Agent Claudia Donovan and the fun of working on such a wickedly zany show.

What has it been like to work with work with Neil Grayston again on WAREHOUSE 13 and what can you tell us about the upcoming episode?
ALLISON: It’s always a pleasure to work with Neil. I’ve said in the past, Neil is one of my best friends, and so having the opportunity to work with him on set is just a joy. It’s like summer camp, but we’re getting paid to run around in crazy costumes. He is an incredibly professional, hilarious comedic, as well as dramatic, actor and is never afraid to have fun. I think I speak for the entire cast and crew of WAREHOUSE 13 when I say that being able to bring Neil Grayston onto the show is nothing but fun. And in terms of this episode, this is probably our biggest concept episode that we’ve ever done. There was a lot of green screen, a lot of special effects. It’s airing sixth in our season but we shot it third in terms of shooting order because there were so many elements to capture and it took a lot of prep and we were directed by the incredibly gifted Chris Fisher, who’s also our supervising producer. And I can honestly say it’s my favorite episode this season so far anyway. [Read more…]

Lamenting EUREKA’s Cancellation and the Frustrations That Comes With the Dwindling Number of Sci-Fi Shows on Television

August 11, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt 3 Comments

When it was announced last week that Syfy would only be ordering a limited run of 6 episodes of EUREKA for its sixth season, there was an immediate outcry from fans and bewildered viewers.  Why the limited number of episodes?  And was that Syfy’s way of unofficially cancelling the show?

Alas, this week the news was far worse, Syfy had rescinded its offer of a 6-episode 6th season.  Instead, it officially announced that EUREKA’s fifth season would be its last.  The ‘cancellation ax’ had finally fallen on a beloved sci-fi series.  But even as viewers brought their frustrations and anguish to the digital airwaves, critics were scratching their heads for EUREKA had been a consistently high-ranked performer for Syfy for the past 5 years.  What could have possibly happened to justify such an abrupt announcement?

Then as those who worked on the show slowly began issuing statements and information began trickling out, it became clear that Syfy was dissatisfied with the cost of such an expensive show.  EUREKA with all its fancy imagery of a fictional town where just about anything could happen, just could not sustain itself financially.  Its consistent 2 million viewers, while a high number for a Syfy show, was not enough to make the show economically viable any longer.  Syfy was cutting ties simply because of the high cost of making such an effects-laden science fiction show.  [Read more…]
