Summer TV Preview: NECESSARY ROUGHNESS Season 2

After a thrilling first season finale left Terrence “T.K.” King’s (Mehcad Brooks) life hanging in the balance following a tragic attempt on his life, it’s safe to say that when NECESSARY ROUGHNESS returns for its much anticipated second season, Dr. Dani Santori (Golden Globe Nominee Callie Thorne) will have her hands full. “One of the decisions our team [Creators Elizabeth Kruger and Craig Shapiro] made in the off season was to focus more on the Hawks’ family,” explained NECESSARY ROUGHNESS EP Kevin Dowling during a recent set visit. “So T.K. has a lot more to do, we’re going to see a lot more of Nico [Scott Cohen], and we’ll finally meet the Hawks’ owner Marshall Pittman, played by Evan Handler who I believe is going to surprise a lot of people.” Not nearly surprising, is the show’s penchant for attracting high profile guest stars, which include the return of Terrell Owens, Amy Sedaris as a rival therapist and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS alum Gaius Charles as a wannabe Hawk. Explained Dowling, “One of the things we are doing this year is that we wanted to show a ‘combine,’ which is this incredibly guelling test of endurance prospective football players have to go before they get drafted and receive that $7 million check!” [Read more…]

EP Kevin Dowling Gives the Inside Scoop on What To Expect From Season 2 of NECESSARY ROUGHNESS

After last season’s climatic finale, which ended with the Hawks’ star football player Terrence King have been shot, the 2nd season returns with some big issues facing the trouble-plagued team.  Not only is T.K. on the mend (physically and emotionally), there is rumblings of financial problems due to pending divorce of owner Marshall Pittman, the personal entanglement of the team’s athletic trainer and therapist who are secretly dating, and further complications involving the team’s “fixer” who may just be in fix of his own now that his relationship with Pittman’s wife has been revealed.  The “fish bowl” existence of the Atlanta Hawks is about to come under intense scrutiny as everyone has something to hide and there is the fate of an entire football team on the line. Scott Cohen Teases What’s In Store for Nico During the 2nd Season of NECESSARY ROUGHNESS

The first season of NECESSARY ROUGHNESS took us into the world of Dr. Dani Santino as she became a therapist to a large variety of sports figures and other big business high-rollers. While Dr. Dani’s world seemed initially be about her varied love interests and elite clientele, including T.K., a football star in need of a therapeutic babysitter, the surprise member rounding out their intertwined lives was Nico, the Atlanta Hawk team’s “fixer.” Scott Cohen’s quiet, mysterious Nico became a fixture as well as a fixer in Dr. Dani’s world, and their blossoming friendship was unexpected and rewarding.
