We Shine the Spotlight on JANE BY DESIGN Stars Erica Dasher and Andie MacDowell

January 17, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt 1 Comment

As noted our article “Hold on Tight, ABC Family’s New Series JANE BY DESIGN Will Steal Your Heart,” the new young adult series starring Erica Dasher is perhaps the most adorable show on television today.  The show glows with warmth, charm and infectious humor.  The trials and tribulations of a young teen who miraculously lands her dream job and then must find a way to keep it just swept us off our feet.

It is in no small part due to the great talents of Erica Dasher and her legendary co-star Andie MacDowell.  Playing Jane Quimby and her fashion designer boss Gray Chandler Murray, Erica and Andie are a remarkable team.  In their scenes together, one senses Jane and Gray’s mutual respect, affection and genuine desire to make their working relationship strong enough to withstand the devious maneuvering of their common foe, India Jourdain (India de Beauforte).  It is a rare treat when so many television shows and films depict employees and their bosses as being at each others’ throats and tearing each other down.  To see a healthier work relationship is intriguing and delightful.

To talk a bit about their new show and their characters, Erica and Andie answered questions via teleconference last week: [Read more…]

Midseason TV Preview: JUSTIFIED’s Third Season Offers Another Dance With the Devil

January 17, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Returning for a third explosive season, FX’s razor-sharp series JUSTIFIED is back with more gunfights, brawls, and rampant crime in Harlan, Kentucky.  Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) may be a U.S. Marshal, but his life is cursed to be a crime-magnet. No matter what the situation or how many guns might be involved, Raylan walks straight in and astoundingly usually walks right back out.  But in the second season finale, Raylan’s good luck ran out and he took a bullet in a shoot-out with Mags Bennett’s (Margo Martindale) crew.  Also in that bloody finale, Raylan was not the only unlucky one as Ava Crowder (Joelle Carter) was shot point-blank by Mags’ son Dickie (Jeremy Davies), and Raylan’s aunt Helen (Linda Gehringer) was caught in the cross-fire as well.  Crime is a bit incestuous with the Bennetts, Crowders, Givens and other clans looking to preserve their way of life — their god-given right to pursue the almighty dollar by any means necessary.
