HELL ON WHEELS Invites Viewers into the Wild West for a Tale of Vengeance

November 6, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

AMC’s new post-Civil War drama HELL ON WHEELS is a lush, visually stunning and, at times, graphic account of revenge and retribution.  In 1865, America was uneasily settling into a routine where the North and South had put aside their differences.  But old tensions were still bubbling beneath the surface; and battle wounds, scars and seething rage were testament to the recent civil war.   The lure of the open West and money to be made through the ambitious pursuit of building a railroad across America brought men together so long as they could leave the past behind.  While the old plantation owners, former slaves, and retired military officers could see the sense of turning their backs on the past and looking to the future, the only ones not to quick to jump on the bandwagon to modernize were the Indians.  Greed and power were pushing the railroad barons to race to build a railroad to bring prosperity across the land, but with time working against them, funds running low and a hostile indigenous population, it is not going to be easy. The British Spook-fest BEDLAM Ends on a Terrifying Note

November 5, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Everywhere you turn in the BEDLAM world, there are ghosts, specters and images of grisly murders from year’s past; and each episode is a lesson in why it is never a good idea to convert a former insane asylum into apartments.  For roommates Kate, Jed, Ryan and Molly, life should be easy.  They are young, beautiful and carefree – or they were until they took up residence at Bedlam Heights.

One would think that the problems began when Jed, who can see ghosts and gets flashes of people’s deaths when he touches objects, moved in.  But as the first episode clearly showed, the troubles at Bedlam Heights were there long before Jed arrived.  He just arrived in the nick of time to help circumvent some of the more recent hauntings.

Over the course of the first season, each of the Bedlam inhabitants has their own run-ins with the ghostly, non-corporeal figures lurking in the shadows. [Read more…]

Silas Weir Mitchell Peels Back the Mystery About Playing the Big Bad Bluebod in GRIMM

November 4, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Friday nights have welcomed a new kind of supernatural series with the impressive debut of the quasi-horror/fantasy series GRIMM.  One of the key reasons viewers latched onto the fun show is fun portrayal by Silas Weir Mitchell, who plays Monroe, the bluebod with a heart of gold.  Call it what you may, bluebod – werewolf – lycanthrope – it does not matter if the creature with claws is on your side.  It was a fun twist to find that last week’s prime suspect ended up being the mentor that Detective Nick Burkhardt needed when he began seeing people in their true forms – for not everyone is strictly human in this new supernaturally-infused world.  In a conference call with press, Silas shared what he loves about Monroe and the show that is winning hearts across the television spectrum.

Could you elaborate about your character Monroe and what will we learn more about him in future episodes?
SILAS: Well, to elaborate more on my character — basically I suppose everything you hear in the pilot, that’s pretty much as far as we get. I mean I’m a Bluebod and I am sort of a reformed Bluebod. I’m trying to live as a human on the straight and narrow. We will definitely learn more about my character in future episodes. But as far as sort of family history we’re not getting into that yet. We do learn about the clockmaker, but it doesn’t get too much into my history or anything. [Read more…]

Discovering the Canadian Comedy Series CALL ME FITZ

November 3, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

For Canadian television viewers, they are well aware of the sensation CALL ME FITZ, which has been recognized as one of the most groundbreaking comedy series on television. For American viewers, CALL ME FITZ may be a still undiscovered gem.

Returning for its second season, CALL ME FITZ is set to blow-minds again with its piercing, ribald adult-humor. It is a no-holds barred look at a morally-bankrupt car salesman who gets a second chance at life, or rather a chance to get to know his better-half while still exploring all the decadent desires life has to offer. In this case, Fitz’s better-half is himself. After a freak accident literally split him in two, creating a separate identity in the form of his conscience known affectionately as Larry (Ernie Grunwald), Fitz is literally haunted by himself. Larry may be a stalker, a corporeal ghost, an angel, or simply a physical manifestation – or better yet, maybe Fitz is lying in a comma somewhere dreaming this whole wild-ride adventure up. Whatever the case may be, Larry is a constant presence in Fitz’s life – for better or for worse. [Read more…]
