A Candid Conversation with PSYCH Creator Steve Franks

October 19, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

As if the sixth season premier of PSYCH is not enough to get everyone excited, in a recent conference call with press, creator and executive producer Steve Franks provided a bit more insight into his dream PSYCH episodes and what he hopes for in the (cross-your fingers!) show’s seventh season.

James Roday alluded to the seasonal finale of Season 6 as having a big cliffhanger. If the series is not picked up for Season 7, would you conclude the show with a movie or something like that?
STEVE: It was sort of a natural.  When we’re finishing up the season finale, we had something big planned that we didn’t think work well enough and something we sort of saved. And as we looked at the way the story is developing, along the course we found like a really, really cool cliffhanger, and we ended up shooting that as our finale. So if we don’t get a Season 7, I think we could create a situation where fans would want a riot on Wall Street as well. So it was only after the fact that when I watched it, I’m like “Oh my God. There’s no way they can’t pick us up for a Season 7 now.” But I’m always thinking about the movie. And actually, when we go in to talk to the executives, I don’t know if it would be on the table. But I have not only a way we could do the movie, but I have sort of the world and the story of it. So I would want to do a Season 7 and a movie. That would make me happy. And I want to make sure if we do the movie, we all need to get on the same page. If we do the movie, I’d want it to be something that was in theaters, even if it’s a small run in theater and not just do a direct to video, like a double episode of the show. I’d want it to feel special. I’d want it to feel like it was something that was worthy of being in the theaters. I think we have something that’s really fun. Making the money and the schedule to work out is always a challenge with these things. But for me it’s like I come from features. I structure our show every week, like you’re seeing an hour-long summer popcorn movie. So I don’t think the leap to the big screen is that far for our show. And it would make this experience even greater than it’s been. So I’m going to be pushing for the movie in the off-season and I’ll be pushing for a Season 7. We’ll see if I get both. [Read more…]

We Preview Tonight’s Special Halloween Episode with PRETTY LITTLE LIARS Star Sasha Pieterse

October 19, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

In an exclusive interview with theTVaddict.com, Sasha Pieterse provided cool insight into the original “pretty little liar” Allison’s psyche and motivations, which are highlighted in the upcoming Halloween episode of PRETTY LITTLE LIARS.

Can you talk about what kind of trouble Allison is brewing for the “pretty little liar” girls this Halloween?
SASHA:  Well, you know, it’s her favorite holiday. Scaring people is what she did best, obviously, and I think she’s definitely got a few Halloween tricks planned for the girls.  But I also think there are a few tricks up other people’s sleeves for Allison.  This is kind of an interesting episode because it is a prequel.  We’ve never really seen this side of Allison before.  It’s all about Allison — and it’s called “The First Secret” for a reason.  It’s the first secret between the girls and it’s the first secret for Allison for herself as well, which is weird because we’ve not seen that before.  There’s also the first encounter with her enemies.  You see her alone, and you see her room.  It’s a lot of her firsts.  So it I think it’s definitely a treat for the viewers.

Do you think she is more of a victim or is she kind of stirring things up that arise during the episode?
SASHA:  It’s a little bit of both.  At this point, nothing’s really happened to Allison.  It’s like the first of everything.  It’s also at the beginning of the girls’ friendship, and the Jenna thing hasn’t gone on yet.  Allison doesn’t really have anyone that has stood up to her yet, and she’s kind of got everything she wants.  In school, everything is going well, and he’s got this posse that does everything she says.  I think this this is the first time you see Allison vulnerable.  I really can’t say too much, obviously, but I think she does open up a little bit in this episode. October 18, 2011 By Tiffany Vogt 6 Comments

Every once in a blue moon, the stars align and something miraculous happens.  In this case, HAVEN’s third season was announced simultaneously with its appearance at New York Comic-Con.  It was perfect timing as it allowed fans to celebrate face-to-face with the cast and creators of HAVEN.  So as NYCC embraced and showcased the supernatural sci-fi series for the first time, fans from around the globe raced to join in the festivities.

As limos arrived, fans streaked through the hallways, and security smiled as both the talent and fans strained to get a glimpse of each other, the air was filled with anticipation.  This was not just a day to celebrate; it was a day to revel in the mutual love-fest from both sides of the entertainment spectrum.  It is a curious symbiotic relationship, for entertainment needs both talent and an appreciative audience.  The most gifted writer or performer in the world is but a voice echoing in a forest without someone to watch and listen.  So when such an occasion arises, it is a joyous thing to be a part of — and the HAVEN panel and autograph signing at NYCC was one such beautiful moment in time.
