Jason O’Mara Opens Up About Fox’s Mishandling of TERRA NOVA
Despite Entertainment President Kevin Reilly’s hope that Fox’s unexpected renewal of FRINGE for a fifth and final season would afford his Network a little forgiveness in terms of its “checkered history with genre television,” there’s still that little issue we have with his handling, make that mishandling, of TERRA NOVA. (Translation: Still bitter!)
Which is precisely why during Sunday afternoon’s Television Critics Association Press Tour touting his newest project that sees him play Sheriff Ralph Lamb’s (Dennis Quaid) younger brother Jack on CBS character-driven period piece VEGAS, we jumped at the chance to corner Jason O’Mara alongside a gaggle of reporters in an effort to get him to elaborate on his comments from earlier in the panel that had him calling out Fox for a “taking a very long time to make what was ultimately a premature decision.”
“We were just finding our feet and I think we just proved that by the season finale,” said O’Mara immediately following the VEGAS panel. “There was a lot more story to tell and I think there was an audience to watch it, certainly internationally, the show went down extremely well, huge numbers. Just domestically I couldn’t quite get there.”
So just where did O’Mara think TERRA NOVA went wrong? [Read more…]

TCA 2012 Live Blog: CBS President Nina Tassler Talks HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, ELEMENTARY, VEGAS & More!
9:35AM: In deference to her “competition,” President of CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler kicks of her CBS Executive Session Panel by brining out a stuffed monkey complete with HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER ducky tie. Following which Tassler rattles off a number of ones touting CBS’ continued dominance over the competition. Specifically, the fact that CBS is number one in viewers, upfront revenue, Emmy nominations, the 25-54 demographic. Equally exciting for Tassler is that CBS continues to defeat both ABC and NBC in the all-important 18-49 demographic and boasts bragging rights to last season’s number one new drama (PERSON OF INTEREST) and comedy ( BROKE GIRLS).
9:40AM: Tassler is confident that the Network will be able to reach an agreement for a ninth season of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, thus ensuring co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will not have to scramble to finish their story in this upcoming eighth season.
9:41AM: Fully aware of the Networks’ penchant for infuriating fans of CBS’ Sunday night lineup with NFL Football overruns, Tassler claims that the network will do everything possible (read: tweet, text, Facebook) to notify their audience that shows such like 60 MINUTES, THE GOOD WIFE and THE MENTALIST will air later than usual. Dirty Sexy Politics! James Wolk Dishes on His Sizzling New USA Network Miniseries POLITICAL ANIMALS
The new television event from USA Network is the six-part series POLITICAL ANIMALS. With its third installment about to air this Sunday, the political drama is only ramping up the tension between the various Hammond factions. This is no ordinary family, each is motivated by political and personal aspirations that infuse the very blood in their veins. In part two last week, we watched with interest and shock as Elaine Hammond’s son, Douglas, sold out her secret plan to re-run for President of the United States to a tenacious investigative reporter. Whether he is acting on his mother’s orders or in her best interest, it is still incredible to watch as the layers upon layers of political intrigue unfold. In a recent press conference call, co-star James Wolk shared some insight into the inner mind of Douglas Hammond, the “good” son. [Read more…]

TCA 2012 Live Blog: LAST RESORT
5:19PM: “What we have on the submarine is our own tight knit family and consequently we have a basis to test those loyalties on the show,” Andre Braugher says on the subject of his character’s relationship with Scott Speedman’s XO Sam Kenda. “Watching us start out as a family and slowly get torn apart is where things are really going to get fun.”
5:20PM: “I don’t have a lot of information to judge the world in which there is a white Andre Braugher who did better than I did,” is how Braugher brilliantly defers what has sadly become the obligatory question surrounding Hollywood’s lack of leading me of color.
5:22PM: “This is a show I couldn’t make five years ago because I didn’t possess the skill set,” reveals Shawn Ryan, who credits his work on THE SHEILD, CHICAGO CODE and TERRIERS with giving him the respective tools necessary for LAST RESORT’s serialized storytelling and incredibly high production values. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT! GAME OF THRONES! COMMUNITY! MODERN FAMILY! GENERAL HOSPITAL! The TV Addict Week in Rewind
Biggest Tease: Ron Howard posted the first page of the script for ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT’s highly-anticipated fourth season on Twitter (Pictured above). 10 minutes later, someone asked if the tweet was going to be made into a movie.
Most Repeated Tribute: In response to news that Sherman Hemsley of THE JEFFERSON’s fame had passed, so many tweets contained some variation of “He’s movin’ on up” that we could only assume the 10 millionth person to do so would win a prize of some sort.
Good News/Bad News, Daytime Division: Fans were thrilled to learn that Kirsten Storms would be reclaiming her GENERAL HOSPITAL role of Maxie… but they were saddened to lose Jen Lilley, who’d stepped into the part during the former’s extended medical leave. If fans have their way, Lilley will return to the soap in a new part. Saxie, anyone?
Hardest Sell: The CW is reportedly interested in bringing Battle Royale, the uber-violent school-kids-kill-each-other Japanese flick that many have compared to The Hunger Games to their network. [Read more…]
Murder One! AMC Kills THE KILLING
For those of you who thought the murder investigation surrounding AMC’s THE KILLING had been officially closed, we’ve got some bad news for you: Think again.
Turns out, the real culprit wasn’t so much [Spoiler Alert!] Mayor Darren Richmond’s campaign manager Jamie Wright (Eric Ladin), but rather a sinister suit in the form of AMC President Charlie Collier who opted not to pick up the much-maligned murder mystery for a third season. [Read more…]
