Snappy Answers to Silly Questions with DEGRASSI Star Aislinn Paul
Just how cool is DEGRASSI star Aislinn Paul? Not only was she kind enough to sit down for an exclusive one-on-one interview earlier in the summer, she was game for a new feature we like to call, “Snappy answers to silly questions.”
The TV Addict: Which cast member is most likely to crack up during a scene?
Aislinn Paul: I’d like to say that I’m pretty good at holding it together but Melinda [Shankar] and I are always cracking up during scenes. We were just shooting a scene this morning and we had a laughing fit, it was pretty fun.
When you’re not shooting, which cast member is most likely to be checking their phones, twittering, texting and what have you?
Aislinn Paul: Melinda is great at her social networking but I’d say Munro [Chambers] is probably on his phone the most, he’s always texting people.
Which cast member is most like their character?
Aislinn Paul: I think Luke [Bilyk] is a lot like Drew, I do! They’re both into sports, not that much into school and pretty into girls too! But as you saw in the premiere, Drew made the ultimate sacrifice for love, and I think Luke is like that as well, he will sacrifice anything for people he loves. [Read more…]

We Shine the Spotlight on AGAINST THE WALL’s Brandon Quinn
In an exclusive interview, Brandon Quinn shared what excites him the most about his new series AGAINST THE WALL on Lifetime, a new police drama that follows a family of cops who struggle with the sudden promotion of one of their own into Internal Affairs. Right away Brandon was quick to admit that he loves cop shows. He explained, “You know, growing up, it was all cops-and-robbers. So playing a police officer piqued my interest. And, it’s more than just a ‘cop show’ — it’s character driven. I enjoy shows where you get involved and know their characters – where you really get to meet and know and understand these characters.”
As to who Officer Richie Kowalski is and why Brandon found the role so appealing was Richie’s protective spirit. In fact, as the series initially plays out, it is Richie who watches protectively over his sister as she is promoted into Internal Affairs. Richie is also the one that everyone turns to in a crisis – and no matter what, he protects his family. Even when they may be at odds, it is ‘family first’ and Richie is their staunch protector. Brandon further clarified, “With his family, they’re the first to tease each other, but they’re also the first to protect each other.” [Read more…]

Writer Gary Goldstein Previews Hallmark Movie Channel’s Romantic Comedy THE CABIN
Every once in a while a delightful made-for-television movie captures our imagination and offers a fun “movie night” treat. One such film is the upcoming film THE CABIN, written by Gary Goldstein, which makes its debut on the Hallmark Movie Channel on Saturday, July 30th. Offering an inside perspective, Gary Goldstein shared what it was like to bring this magical family film to life.
Why don’t you tell the story of how you came to write THE CABIN?
GARY: The way that it started was I had written a couple films for Hallmark [Channel] already and they came to me with an outline that was written by another writer and they liked the seed of the idea for it, particularly as they already had plans to do three movies back-to-back in Ireland. The basic concept was this family-vacation comedy which introduced two estranged families in such a way as to get to know each other by having them accidentally forced to share vacation quarters, or a cabin if you will — and [Hallmark] thought that Ireland would be a good place for this film. So what I did is I took the basic one-liner and expanded it into this new story about these two families that don’t know each other but that meet and end up being forced to share this cabin and of course what happens is the single parents will slowly fall for each other. I also decided that the kids would have their own stories and relationships and that kind of thing. But what I was looking for was to sort of put a bit of a higher concept on it, so I thought it might be interesting that, while it would be shot in Ireland, to actually set it in Scotland. Because every year in Scotland they do the Highland Games for people of Scottish descent where they participate in these very ancient games, some of which may or may not be popular today. So I set it at a Scottish resort in the midst of fictional Highland-type games. So I came up with the Meeting of the Macs, which is for everybody whose last name begins with M-A-C and it turns out that both the families in the film have the same name: MacDougal. So that is how they end up getting put in the same cabin; it was a simple reservation booking error. Then it goes from there. I also chose Scotland because Ireland can pass as Scotland. It was kind of an easy fix as we could use actors who could put on Scottish accents, while the two leads are American and the rest of the main cast could also be American. Then we just went on from there. [Read more…]
