5 Reasons We’re Counting Down to Fox’s Launch of TERRA NOVA
This show wouldn’t have been possible five years ago.
Remember last spring when Fox announced that it was delaying the splashy post-AMERICAN IDOL premiere of TERRA NOVA due to the time constraints that went into creating what Network President Kevin Reilly then characterized as one of the most ambitious television series ever produced in both scope and scale. Well, he wasn’t kidding. “The visual effects team has literally created new technologies to make TERRA NOVA possible,” revealed executive producer Brannon Braga during the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour in Los Angeles. “They’re doing extremely advances things with motion capture and new forms of software to create dinosaurs, animals and digital set extensions that weren’t possible five years ago.”
Forget everything you know about time travel.
No Really. After already tiring of fielding questions with regards to the implications of travelling back in time on the future (thank-you-very-much-good-for-nothing-Butterfly-Effect), the TERRA NOVA production team of Brannon Braga and Rene Echevarria took it upon themselves to preemptively put the kibosh on any and all confusion by having our intrepid time travellers end up in a completely separate/alternate universe. Said Echevarria, “So many people asked about the Shannon family’s effect on history that we wanted to dispel that right away.” Added Braga, for all you know-it-alls out there who are about to follow up with the second most pressing question surrounding the inevitable ice age that will eventually make all of the colonist’s hard work obsolete, “Yes there is an asteroid coming in a while, [but you have to take into account] the futuristic technology that we don’t have today, so they’ll be prepared to deal.” [Read more…]

Ask the Addict: Spoilers for BONES, GLEE, SUPERNATURAL & More!
In last week’s edition of Ask the Addict you teased that BONES would kick off the season with a first scene that promises to amaze people… Care to elaborate? — Jennifer
The TV Addict: Seeing as though we have absolutely no idea as to what Hart Hanson was referring to when he revealed that “the first scene shot is going to amaze people,” we actually wouldn’t care to elaborate. But, what we would be more than happy to do is let you in a little secret with regards to what said aforementioned opening scene won’t involve: House hunting! After-all, that little doozy of a discussion won’t go down until the fifth episode of the BONES’ season that will see Booth and Brennan, well actually more so the multi-million dollar-best selling author Brennan, house shopping online.
Any chance you can do this Gleek a solid by sharing some GLEE scoop? Particularly of the Rachel Berry/Lea Michele variety? — Dianna
The TV Addict: According to Lea Michele, who we were lucky enough to catch up with during FOX party at the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour in Los Angels, Rachel Berry fans are in for quite the treat this season. Teased Michele, “I know that I have some really great storylines with Chris Colfer and Darren Criss, I know that I’m going to be in the school musical — which I can’t reveal — but it’s one of my dream roles — not Fanny Brice — and I know that they’re going back to a lot of classic songs. From the first script it was not a lot of top 10 hits but older songs which I love and am so excited to sing and lots of Broadway so I’m super excited about that.” [Read more…]

We Shine the Spotlight On Jillian Rose Reed from MTV’s New Hit Series AWKWARD.
Jillian Rose Reed is breaking-hearts and stealing scenes as Tamara on the latest teen comedy series AWKWARD. Offered the chance to play the vivacious red-head and best-friend of Jenna, the girl who everyone mistakenly thinks tried to commit suicide, Jillian leapt at the chance. She happily exclaimed that when she first saw the AWKWARD. script she thought, “Oh my gosh! It was the funniest and most well-written script I had ever read!” She was immediately drawn to the role and thought Tamara, while in a sense perceived as a bit crazy, that she was fun and relatable. She loved getting the chance to portray the “quirky best friend.” She also really admired Tamara’s sense of adventure. As she gleefully noted, “She’s down for any adventure!” [Read more…]
The Countdown to the Fall TV Season Begins: Who’s Excited?
With apologies to both students and teachers who are more than likely dreading the return to the classroom after a glorious two month vacation, September is — at least for those of us who have been diagnosed with a somewhat worrisome addiction to television — the most wonderful time of the year.
So much so that we liken the August calm before the storm that is the upcoming slew of September series and season premieres to Major League Baseball’s Spring Training. Which is to say that despite the fact that by June the dominating New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will more than likely be sitting atop of the standings, everybody — even the lowly Kansas City Royals — has a shot at a Pennant in April. A comparison that was made all the more apt at the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour in Los Angeles. [Read more…]
Allison Scagliotti Previews the EUREKA/WAREHOUSE 13 Cross-Over Episodes and Reflects on Claudia’s Amazing Journey
In tonight’s episode of WAREHOUSE 13, Douglas Fargo (played by Neil Grayston) returns to WAREHOUSE 13 for a fun adventure in the digital zone as a video game starts up a special game of its own with Claudia, Fargo, Pete and Myka as its principal players. Taking a few minutes to chat with press about the episode, Allison Scagliotti talked about her expanding role as Warehouse Agent Claudia Donovan and the fun of working on such a wickedly zany show.
What has it been like to work with work with Neil Grayston again on WAREHOUSE 13 and what can you tell us about the upcoming episode?
ALLISON: It’s always a pleasure to work with Neil. I’ve said in the past, Neil is one of my best friends, and so having the opportunity to work with him on set is just a joy. It’s like summer camp, but we’re getting paid to run around in crazy costumes. He is an incredibly professional, hilarious comedic, as well as dramatic, actor and is never afraid to have fun. I think I speak for the entire cast and crew of WAREHOUSE 13 when I say that being able to bring Neil Grayston onto the show is nothing but fun. And in terms of this episode, this is probably our biggest concept episode that we’ve ever done. There was a lot of green screen, a lot of special effects. It’s airing sixth in our season but we shot it third in terms of shooting order because there were so many elements to capture and it took a lot of prep and we were directed by the incredibly gifted Chris Fisher, who’s also our supervising producer. And I can honestly say it’s my favorite episode this season so far anyway. [Read more…]
