FOX Puts AMERICAN IDOL Under the Microscope
Less than 48 hours into AMERICAN IDOL’s new and improved Ellen Degeneres era, FOX isn’t wasting anytime to find out what viewers think. So much so that your very own TV Addict, as an upstanding member of the FOX Viewing Panel awoke this morning to find a very interesting email in our inbox asking for our opinion. Is Ellen just what AMERICAN IDOL has been missing? Do the judges seem like less of a family now that Paula has left the show? Would you describe Randy Jackson as uninteresting, weak, or competent? These were just some of the scintillating questions FOX wanted answers to. In other words, Randy… be afraid, be very afraid.
Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Question with 24 star Katee Sackhoff
What’s it like being the new kid at CTU?
Katee Sackhoff: You know what’s funny is I think that had this been the first year where they had new people come out, I think that it would be awkward but because this is a show where every season they have someone new, if not multiple people new, they’re used to it. So Kiefer [Sutherland], Mary Lynn [Rasjkub] and the crew and are pretty much just like, “Hey, you’re the new girl, Hi, how are you? Welcome.” Because it’s been really great that way. Also, I couldn’t have found a more similar situation to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Its subject matter, not only subject matter but the crew is like a family. The shooting schedule is very similar to BATTLESTAR so for me, it was a very, very easy transition and it’s been great.
Is there a sense of relief not walking around with Cylon-sized secrets anymore?
Are you f***ing kidding me? Like I don’t have to walk around with secrets anymore? I’m sorry to swear at you. No, it’s very funny that you say that because I went from a show that’s clouded in this secrecy of who the Cylons are and blah blah blah blah blah and then I come to a show where I’m told right before I come out here, “You can’t tell them anything. You do know that, right?” So it’s very similar. I think that because 24 airs so quickly, in fact that episodes come out so fast, that you kind of have to keep everything very secret because there are so many twists and turns that if I were to sit here and say some random thing, if it was a Starbuck thing, like I die in an episode or something, it could potentially ruin the entire season. So it’s one of those things where you just kind of have to keep your mouth shut, which I got accustomed to on BATTLESTAR.
It’s Cuddypalooza! Lisa Edelstein Teases Tonight’s HOUSE
On tonight’s HOUSE, Dr. Lisa Cuddy will ask the question the likes of Ally McBeal, Miranda Hobbes and Christina Yang have grappled with throughout television history: Relationship, family and career, “Can a woman really have it all?”
“Cuddy is trying to do everything and I’m just glad there is an episode that shows how much it is she actually has to do, how much is on her plate,” explained actress Lisa Edelstein on a recent phone interview with theTVaddict.com. “Representing single moms, and single working moms and what they do is always nice because they’re unsung heroines.”
Titled “5 to 9,” tonight’s extra-helping of Cuddy will give fans a rare glimpse of Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital through the eyes of someone other than the show’s titular character. You know, the stuff that happens when the Dean of Medicine isn’t busy telling House he’s not allowed to inject a patient with Malaria on a ‘hunch.’

An Open Letter To… The Networks
Dear Execs In Charge,
We love TV. Really, we do. Heck, television is basically the altar upon which we sacrifice a huge portion of our lives. And sometimes, you guys actually make it worth our while. You renew good stuff (BIG LOVE, PARKS & RECREATION) and mercifully whisk away the bad…
Okay, so JERSEY SHORE and ‘TIL DEATH would seem to indicate you’ve kinda dropped the ball in that regard.
But here’s the thing: There comes a point in any relationship where you start to really look at the other party and say, “I love you… but do you feel the same way toward me? Are you willing to commit to me with the level of intensity which I am toward you?”
Sadly, more and more, I feel as if our love is a one-way street, on which you are driving a bus intent on running us down repeatedly. You let our favorite shows disappear for months on end and somehow think we’re buying this whole “mid-season finale” thing. But we’re not! We know it’s just a cheap ploy that you use as a way to get us excited about shows going away for an extended period of time. You come up with some lame-o cliffhanger to keep us on the edge of our seats until you’ve decided we’ve been punished long enough.
Well, maybe we’re the ones who’ve had enough?

CLEVELAND SHOW (8:30PM FOX)
Just when you thought this show couldn’t get any more annoying, our least favorite Griffin, Chris pops by.
FAMILY GUY (9PM FOX)
Tonight’s episode that has Brian discovering Meg has a boyfriend (voiced by Chace Crawford) while researching a magazine article on American teen girls naturally begs the questions: What’s more believable, Meg having a boyfriend, or Brian doing research for a magazine? Just saying, didn’t the Apple iPad put those tree killers out of business already?
