If by 12 noon you’re desperate for a lunch break and some laughter at the same time, may I recommend NEWSRADIO. The brilliant and under-appreciated office place sitcom is now airing on TBS weekdays at 12 noon (EST). The show features an all-star ensemble including Phil Hartman, Dave Foley, Maura Tierney, Andy Dick, Joe Rogan, Stephen Root, Khandi Alexander and Vicki Lewis — and will definitely brighten up your dreary work day.

GILMORE GIRLS: And the Winner is…
Over the summer, the TV Addict had the opportunity to interview David Sutcliffe, better know in TV Land as Christopher on GILMORE GIRLS. In the interview, one of the questions that I never ended up including in the finished piece was who David thought would win in a fight between Luke and Christopher. Who knew I was such a visionary and that we’d actually get to see fisticuffs between the two men in Lorelai’s life. Here’s what David had to say:
I think if we were both on skates i could take him [David, being Canadian, is naturally a huge hockey fan!]. Flat footed, he’s quite a good boxer. Scott [Patterson] is a real athlete — He was in the Yankees farm system. He spent a season in Triple ‘A’ Ball. He was a very serious athelete. I’m a good athelete, but there’s a difference between a good athelete and someone who almost made it to the show!
While the fight ended in what spectators might consider a draw, this TV Addict declares Christopher the winner. Going into the fight, Luke was definitely the odds on favourite. Consider the facts: Luke wears a lumber jacket, he lifts heavy things all the time, likes camping and is known as the ‘diner guy’. In his entire life, the only thing Christopher’s ever had to lift is his cheque book. Christopher deserved the win for not only surviving the fight, but managing to get off a few punches as well.
Fisticuffs aside, I really enjoyed last night’s episode of GILMORE GIRLS. More specifically the part where Emily talked to Lorelai about her troubled marriage. For the first time in the series history, Emily Gilmore wasn’t talking down to Lorelai. She seemed genuinely worried about her daughter’s well being and offered up some practical and important advice (ie. you don’t have to win every fight!). Emily for once, wasn’t thinking about herself, or her family’s image — only what was best for Lorelai. It was a great moment, and will no doubt give Lorelai a lot to think about over the holidays.
A First Look at 24 Season Six
My spies over at FOX were kind enough to send me some photos from the upcoming sixth season of 24. Not surprisingly, it seems as though Jack has made it back to the US! “Day 6” will start with a four-hour, two-night season premiere on Sunday, Jan. 14 and Monday, Jan. 15 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Does LOST Need To Find Itself?
There’s no denying that ABC’s hit drama LOST is one of the best shows to hit the airwaves in many a moon. But while pondering the show’s twists and turns during this mid-season break, one can’t help but notice that while the reigning Emperor of cult TV isn’t wandering around in a bathing suit trying to convince us it’s fully dressed, some of the material is starting to wear a little thin.
For example, as much as it’s great to meet new characters, should it really be done at the expense of ones we’ve come to love? Why did we spend last season investing in Charlie and Claire’s romance if this season, they would become little more than background players? For that matter, why did we bother investing in the “tailies” only to have their major players be killed off?
Random TV Tidbits: LOST, The CW and Entertainment Weekly
According to Variety, ABC has decided to move LOST to 10PM when it returns from hiatus on February 7. The move is an effort by the alphabet network to protect one of its best performers from the juggernaut that is AMERICAN IDOL. This TV Addict applauds the move as AMERICAN IDOL is a cultural phenomenon and competing against it is pretty much pointless.
THE CW had finally made it to Itunes. SUPERNATURAL is currently available for download by clicking here. This TV Addict’s question, how long until VERONICA MARS makes an appearance on iTunes. If there’s one show that could benefit from more exposure — and repeat viewings — it’s Neptune’s Hottest Detective.
Was anyone else disappointed with this weeks issue of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY. The issue featured ‘The Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide’ which was essentially a six page promotional piece for Entertainment Weekly advertisers. Not only that, EW writers thought that the Microsoft Zune was the perfect gift for the Jim Halpert in your life. Anyone with half a brain knows that Jim Halpert would never own a Zune, he’s an iPod guy all the way. Seriously, a Zune! Who owns that?
Help Support Musicians Affected By Hurricane Katrina
Were you as moved as I was by the final minutes of Monday’s Christmas edition of STUDIO 60? If so, you can help support the rebuilding of music culture in New Orleans. Click here to visit the web site of the Tipitinas Foundation, a foundation that aids musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Whether you agree with his opinions or not, this TV Addict applauds Aaron Sorkin for continuing to shine a light on issues in America that need our attention.
Will Rosie Leave THE VIEW for NIP/TUCK?
According to Access Hollywood, Rosie O’Donnell is preparing to leave THE VIEW for NIP/TUCK. Apparently, during a commercial break on THE VIEW, Rosie told the studio audience that she’s been offered the female lead of the show since Joely Richardson is leaving for a year. According to Access Hollywood:
She said that she’d play the character of Dawn Budge, who was introduced in a guest role this past (the show’s 4th) season. Dawn would be the owner of the plastic surgery center and do things like “sneak Cher in the back door” and then hire paparazzi to take pictures. Rosie added that it would be a 15-week shoot in LA. She didn’t say if she was going to do it, but it sounded very much like she’s leaning towards it.
No word on how this could affect her schedule with THE VIEW, but Rosie has said that she’s only signed on to co-host for one season of Barbara Walters’ morning talk-fest.

Amrie’s Take on TV: Holiday Gift Guide
For those of you wondering, with the limited shopping days left in December, what you can get me this holiday season, I felt it best to spell it all out for everyone – a short TV-on-DVD (and one CD because of my obsession with complete sets) guide that I, and your fellow TV addicts, would love to see under one of my three Christmas trees. (What, no one else has a pink tree, a silver tree, and a douglas fir along one wall of their dining room?)
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again. My addiction to TV, my sickness over failed plot lines, my connection to characters that I truly believed in? It started with this show. New Year’s Day, 2002, I watched Alias for 10 hours. It didn’t take me 10 hours to love it. It took me ten seconds, but I watched it. Since then, I’ve watched Seasons 1 and 2 on repeat so many times that I can recite hundreds of scenes. I’ve even watched Season 3 again, with the hope that I would find something to love. And Season 4. When it was announced that the 5th season of Alias would be the last, I have to admit, regardless of the predictable plots, the overdone cliffhangers, the new Syd!lite we got from Rachel Nichols, and the new Vaughn!lite from the normally adorable Balt Getty, I was seriously sad. Now that it’s out on DVD, even though I hated Vaughn’s “death,“ I cannot wait to get a copy, since I have an obsession with complete sets (I own Seasons 1-3 of OTH, just because) and because Alias was so important in my TV-addict life, it would be the perfect gift!
