Disappointment Weekly
Knowing that this week was Michael Ausiello’s inaugural column in Entertainment Weekly Magazine and being somewhat of an Ausiello aficionado, it should come as no surprise to readers of theTVaddict.com that this TV Addict took some time on what has turned out to be a surprising beautiful Friday afternoon to pop into my local Indigo Bookstore [Canada’s Barnes & Noble] in order to get a first look at the new issue of Entertainment Weekly — that won’t arrive in my mailbox until Monday at the earliest because Canada Post has their head… well that’s another rant for another day.
Needless to say, imagine my disappointment when I discovered that the much—anticipated column from Michael Ausiello turned out to be nothing more than a condensed version of the scoop that he already posted on EW.com days earlier, alongside a few ‘Burning Questions’ that he [you guessed it] already answered!
As a self proclaimed TV Addict I’m used to summer reruns on television. But in magazines? Talk about your disappointment weekly.
Which brings me to my burning question. If Entertainment Weekly is simply going to rerun its online content in its magazine a week later, why exactly am I spending my hard earned money on a subscription?
Sharon Gless Talks BURN NOTICE
Can’t wait a week until the second season premiere of BURN NOTICE? Neither can we!
That’s why theTVaddict.com will be helping to pass the time by posting a new interview from Senior Editor Amrie Cunningham’s recent trip to the set of BURN NOTICE each and every day leading up to July 10th premiere.
Today’s interview: BURN NOTICE star and legendary TV icon Sharon Gless.
Panel: So what’s it like to be a TV icon?
Sharon Gless Oh my goodness! Am I?
Yeah, absolutely!
Well… I’ll tell you, I don’t know if I’m an icon, but I’ve really been… working more than most my age. And I come from gratitude every day – it makes me cry – I come from gratitude every single day. Because I have so many friends, you know, my age, who I was in the industry with, who aren’t working any more. And it feels like a really swell thing that I get to keep working.
Do you fellow cast members look up to you and come to you for career advice?
[Laughs] Um, well, I don’t know if they look up to me, but Jeffrey when we first started just wanted to know, ‘How did you do it?’ Just the stamina that it takes to be, as he is, in every single scene, which Tyne and I were in CAGNEY AND LACEY. It was devised that way on purpose. There was never a scene we weren’t in. But that’s how this show’s been devised. I think this year they’re giving him a little break, because you can’t kill the golden goose. But normally he’s in every single scene. So last year, sort of the only advise he would ask me was, ‘How did you do it?’ I said, ‘You have to get an assistant. You just have to be able to give stuff to other people and just focus on your work.’ He’s so amazing.

Pimp YOUR Favorite Show [Again!]
As you may have noticed, the giant image [or ‘header’ to get all web design guy on you] hyping the new season of BURN NOTICE is woefully out of date. The reason. It’s July and frankly, this TV Addict’s got nothing!
So with that in mind I thought, why not, once again, open the space up to the fans.
How would you, yes you random [insert favorite show] fan like to use the above space to help promote your favorite show. Want thousands of television fans to know that you love everything Jared and Jensen? That the fight for MOONLIGHT is still alive! Or maybe, just maybe your name is Michael Ausiello and you’d like to let your fans know about your new job at Entertainment Weekly [Can his head fit in the header?]
Simply email danielthetvaddict@gmail.com an image that measures 713 pixels wide by 248 pixels high [Note: Please keep all images family friendly] and who knows, the next time you visit theTVaddict.com, the enormous header image staring back at you could be your own.

Today’s question of the day: As the flood of EMMY Semifinalists [courtesy of theenvelope.com] continue to leak out, put yourself in an actor’s position. As per usual, this TV Addict’s picks for final five are highlighted in orange.

Why Brenda Returning to Beverly Hills is a Bad Idea
As much as I’d like to really get into the recent rumors swirling around original 90210 cast member Shannon Doherty returning to the zip code that made her famous, or is it infamous? This TV Addict has to run downtown for his weekly appearance talking television on FLOW 93.5 [at 8:20am on the off chance you’re in radio range].
So check back later in the day — after this TV Addict gulps down numerous cups of coffee — for my fully formed thoughts on why Brenda returning to Beverly Hills reeks of desperation and how this CW 90210 re-boot is starting to smell like the biggest flop since New Coke.
[Update 10:00AM]: Now that I’m back from my weekly radio gig on FLOW 93.5, which by the way you can listen to by pressing the ‘play’ button at the bottom of the post, allow me to elaborate on my lack of excitement for Shannon Doherty’s rumored return.
Simply put, it’s not going to happen.
Ask The Addict: John Barrowman Edition
Question: You call yourself a TV Addict, yet not a word on the fact that Hollywood has been virtually shut down [once again] courtesy of a labour dispute between the AMPTP, SAG and AFTRA! What’s the deal? — Karen.
The TV Addict: Following the incredibly depressing WGA Strike, this TV Addict has chosen to live in a town I like to call Denial. Population myself and eight million or so MOONLIGHT fans who are still holding out hope that the show isn’t dead.
Question: Did the hot guy from LIPSTICK JUNGLE appear in a soap opera last year? I swear I saw him in one!
— OTHer
The TV Addict: Since the last thing this TV Addict needs to do is get himself hooked on Soap Operas that air new episodes on a daily basis! I’m going to toss this question to frequent TV Addict contributor and Soap Opera Expert Couch Tater. “Well, I’m going to assume that when you say “the hot guy” you mean Robert Buckley, who plays photographer-by-day, studmuffin-by-night Kirby Atwood on NBC’s LIPSTICK JUNGLE. If that’s the case, then the answer to your question is yes. Kind of. Although he’s never done a daytime soap, he starred in not one but two of MyNetwork’s telenovelas. First, he played a photographer — are we sensing a pattern here? — in the 2006 series FASHION HOUSE, which featured Morgan Fairchild and Bo Derek as dueling divas. Then in 2007, he played rich boy Matthew Wakefield in the damn-near-unwatchable AMERICAN HEIRESS, which was about… oh, who really cares? Next up for Buckley? The sci-fi flick ROBOT BATTLE, which supposedly will go the direct-to-video route and stars a bunch of people you’ve never heard of, and Killer Movie, starring Kaley Cuoco (8 SIMPLE RULES), Nestor Carbonell (LOST), Leighton Meester (GOSSIP GIRL) and Al Santos(GROSSE POINT). In other words, we’ll totally be catching this flick.
Question: Any news on the recently green-lit BATTLESTAR GALACTICA movie that will shoot this summer? — CylonLover33
The TV Addict: Not surprisingly, plot details are being guarded as tightly as Tricia Helfer’s outfits. But SyFy Portal’s Michael Hinman was quick to point out to theTVaddict.com in a recent interview that Galactica Sitrep’s assertion that Jane Espenson will be scripting the movie is incorrect. Adding that GALACTICA Executive Producers and writing partners David Weddle and Bradley Thompson already confirmed to him [Hinman] in a recent interview that they’re set to pen the script.
Question: Any scoop on Discovery Channel’s show THE DEADLIEST CATCH? — Fishercutbait
The TV Addict: Crabs will be caught, deckhands will nearly fall overboard and I’ll get majorly seasick thanks to the constant waves. In other words… um, no.
