The First Whenever-We-Feel-Like-It Channel Surfing Awards!
Who doesn’t like getting a sparkly trophy and a little recognition, right? Well, get ready kids, because we’re about to present the winners in our first Channel Surfing Awards, better known (at least in our minds) as the CSAs. Can you feel the tension in the air? And now, without further ado, your host — who also serves as the lone nominator and judge — CT!
In the category of “Great Idea Badly Executed”, the award goes to… 100 QUESTIONS. While the concept is a sound one (a woman goes to a dating service and as she asks each question on their profile, we see the story behind her answer), but everything from the casting to the scripts is miserable. But perhaps the worst decision made by the people in charge of the show was to use not only a laugh track, but one of the most obnoxious ones in recent memory. Nothing points out just how flat a joke is falling like having it punctuated by canned laughter. If there’s one thing we’ve all learned from shows like MODERN FAMILY and COMMUNITY, it’s that we as an audience are now smart enough to know when to laugh.
An In Depth Look At… Next Week’s Most Shocking Soap Moments!
If it’s Friday, it must be time for our friends at Soaps In Depth to fill us in on the action set to unfold next week across the daytime dial. And according to executive editor Richard M. Simms, Genoa City — home to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS — is the place to be as a court fight is interrupted by a shocking turn of events that will have everyone buzzing.
“The week kicks off with Cane and Mac duking it out in court,” previews the editor. “Mac is serving as a surrogate for Cane and his wife, Lily. Mac’s carrying twins, which is great news. But tragically, Lily has cancer and is dying.” Cane thinks his wife’s life can be saved by using stem cells found in the amniotic fluid, but Mac and Lily have both rejected that notion. Going behind his wife’s back, Cane has taken Mac to court. “It’s really dramatic, because there’s so much on the line,” says Simms. “And just when you think things can’t get any more emotional, they do when Lily bursts into the courtroom, having come home to die!”

Your TV Tech Fix: 3DTV Questions Answered!
Last week we had a little 3DTV 101 together, and given the enormous showing 3D technology has enjoyed throughout the E3 Gaming Expo this week, it looks like this discussion couldn’t be more timely. For those of you who aren’t big gamers, Sony’s pushing 3D hard on the PS3, and unveiled a wide assortment top-tier 3D titles coming to Playstation 3 over the next year. Some big ones include Killzone 3, Gran Turismo 5, MLB 10 The Show, MotorStorm: Apocalypse, NBA 2K11, and a whole bunch more.
Gaming may not be important to the average TV addict, but it’s hard to ignore the impact gaming can have on the adoption of 3D technology in the home. And as we all know, more 3DTVs in the home means more support from TV and Hollywood.

A Conversation with CASTLE Star Stana Katic
After spending fifteen minutes on the phone with CASTLE star Stana Katic yesterday, one thing became abundantly clear: Fifteen minutes wasn’t nearly enough time! Evidently, Katic and Kate Beckett, her small screen alter ego on the hit ABC series have more than just mesmerizing good looks and a killer smile in common. As luck (or hard work) would have it, Katic is that rare Hollywood specimen that has the brains to match the beauty. A conclusion we reached following our all-too-brief chat in which the actress was kind enough to take some time from her busy schedule to discuss the recent CASTLE season finale, her first meeting with co-star Nathan Fillion, Emmy possibilities and of course, hair!
As much as I detest incredibly obvious first questions, there is no getting around this one. Beckett and Castle together! Are you “for” or “against”?
Stana Katic: I think that those two characters make a lot of sense together. I understand that lately, many people have this belief that all the romantic tension and comedy will stop when a couple gets together. But I believe that whether they’re together or whether they’re not together, that tension and sexual swordplay should still be available. I might be overly romantic, but I think that if a couple gets together there is still an element of spice in a relationship.
