THE GOOD: Be it the pitch-perfect casting of Katy Perry as the brainless wonder Honey (Or as Ted so accurately put it to Barney, “I’d say hump her brains out, but somebody obviously already has.”) to the clever and completely in-character way in which Marshall was kept in the loop while remaining in Minnesota to care for his grieving mother, there was very little not to love when it came to last night’s Ted-centric episode. In fact, thanks to the welcome return of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s trademark storytelling device that had the mystery unravel via multiple points of view, “Oh Honey” may have been our favorite of the season thus far. With of course, the notable exception of…

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Reasons Why Tonight’s Valentine’s Day Themed Episode of GLEE Hits all the Right Notes
Genuine Plot Development!
Unlike a certain post-Super Bowl episode that completely fumbled their gargantuan lead-in with a not-so-thrilling episode that yet again pitted the Glee Club against the jocks, tonight’s Valentine’s Day centric-one entitled “Silly Little Love Songs” moves things forward. Particularly on the relationship front, where Sam/Quinn and Finn/Rachel’s romantic infidelities will take center stage.
Puck Rocks!
After spending the majority of the first half of GLEE’s second season warming the bench, Puck fans will be delighted to discover that tonight’s episode sees Mark Salling making up for lost time in a big way. Not only does he steal the show with a rocking rendition of “Fat Bottom Girls,” his attempt to secure himself a Valentine’s Day date for two at Breadsticks (Evidently, Lima Ohio’s only restaurant) is hands down the highlight of the episode.

Wanted: A Few Good Villains (For SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL & THE EVENT)
If there is one thing that guarantees viewers glued to their televisions, it is a great villain. Names such as The Trinity Killer, Sylar, T-Bag, Arvin Sloane and Benjamin Linus still echo in our brains as some of the greatest villains of the past decade. Even after redemption, the names themselves send shivers down our spines and recall images of treachery, villainy and pure evil. It is undisputed that villains bring fans together in unity and horror and water-cooler gossip.
Yet lately in the battle of good versus evil, a number of television shows have been missing one essential ingredient: a villain.
Genre and dramatic television shows thrive off conflict. But in order for there to be conflict, it takes two sides — a good and a bad. Yet looking across the television landscape, there seems to be a lot of shows scrambling to find their true villain; and from SMALLVILLE to SUPERNATURAL to THE EVENT, some television shows are adrift.
Morning Static: SMALLVILLE, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, THE LEAGUE & More!
• Pilot Watch: Debra Messing to headline NBC pilot SMASH.
• Countdown… to Keith Olbermann’s new job announcement.
• Mark your calendar: CW to air the two-hour SMALLVILLE series finale on May 13.
• Q&A: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s Josh Radnor on Ted’s New Girlfriend and the Show’s Future.
• Good news for sports fans, FX renews THE LEAGUE for a third season.
Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Questions with THE CHICAGO CODE Star Jennifer Beals
What was it about the role of Police Superintendent Teresa Colvin that attracted you to THE CHICAGO CODE?
Jennifer Beals: Being the first female superintendent, I just thought it would be very interesting to play somebody who was walking into uncharted territory. How do you balance your personal life with the demands of that kind of job? That and working with Shawn Ryan was a real lure because I really admire his writing and I admire the way that he works with his team of writers as well. Plus, being part of THE L WORD made me realize how much more television can be tham what I had experienced in my lifetime in terms of being able to be of service to people. I had so many fans come up to me who were really deeply appreciative of the show and what it had meant for them and their own sense of identity and their own sense of inclusion in our society and in our culture.
What type of research were you able to partake in when it came to the Chicago Police Department and did you talk to woman in particular to help inform your acting choices?
In terms of the Chicago Police Department, we were able to do ride-alongs with a homicide detective. So you could go all out all night in a car in a Kevlar vest. Essentially, you sign a piece of paper, and you’re able to see all kinds of things. You get to see what they deal with day in and day out, how to set up a crime scene. We got to go to the shooting range, and I was able to talk to some people who had more administrative positions to try to understand what that part of my job would be like. As for women, I did talk to a lot of them. Obviously, it’s a very interesting position to be a woman who’s in charge of a department or several bureaus who are primarily men.
