The Seven Wonders of WonderCon 2011: Behind the Music of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, PUSHING DAISIES, TRUE BLOOD, BONES & More!
At the “Behind the Music: Composing for Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy” panel, presented by CW3PR, fans heard from some of the most gift musical talents on television today about how they entered the realm of musical composition.
Moderated by Bryan Fuller (Pictured above, left), creator of such gems as DEAD LIKE ME and PUSHING DAISIES, the panel consisted of Nathan Barr (TRUE BLOOD), Jim Dooley (PUSHING DAISIES, Pictured above, right), Scott Starrett (THE EVENT, DROP DEAD DIVA), Marco Beltrami (“V,” 3:10 to Yuma), Michael Suby (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, KYLE XY), and Sean Callery (24, BONES).
Each credited their current success to sheer luck. But, as anyone who attended this extraordinary panel can attest, luck only plays a small part. Just listening to the melodious sounds they create for some of the hottest shows on television made it abundantly clear that these men are nothing short of genius. They are the Mozarts of our generation. They create the sounds and music that invoke the emotional resonance that we all feel watching the shows we love. For what would “True Blood” be without the curiously intoxicating mix of Cajun tunes back-dropped by something almost otherworldly? Or would 24 have felt as intense without the piercingly riveting sounds reminding us of the ever-present clock ticking down?

Kristen Bell Returns To TV, Advantage Showtime
The fight for your disposable income between pay-cablers HBO and Showtime just got that much more interesting thanks to today’s news that has newly-minted Showtime President of Entertainment David Nevins giving the greenlight to two new series.
HOUSE OF LIES, based on the tell-all book of the same name is a new half-hour comedy created by Matthew Carnahan that takes a scathing look inside the world of management consulting and stars Don Cheadle as Marty, a highly-successful and cutthroat consultant who is never above using any means (or anyone) necessary to get his way with and for his clients. More exciting still is that his co-workers include Kristen Bell (HEROES… just kidding, VERONICA MARS) who plays Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a razor-sharp, Ivy-League graduate as well as Ben Schwartz (UNDERCOVERS) and Josh Lawson (ROMANTICALLY CHALLENGED).
Ask the Addict: Spoilers for THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, BONES, NIKITA, HOUSE & More!
Any scoop on Thirteen’s return to HOUSE? — Allison
The TV Addict: Scoop Plenty… specifics, not so much. Particularly because we wouldn’t exactly want to get on Fox’s bad side by inadvertently revealing the Krazy shocking and unexpected set of circumstances surrounding Thirteen’s incarceration. Except to say the following: Not only did Olivia Wilde inexplicably manage to get even hotter over her hiatus, HOUSE fans will be thrilled to discover that Monday’s 150th episode is among the season’s best as Wilde’s Thirteen gets the not-so-good-doctor to say three words we never thought we’d hear him utter “*** **** You!” Less thrilling, the episode is completely Cuddy and Wilson free.
Just how big of a game-changer is tonight’s NIKITA? — Ben
The TV Addict: Pretty big. Although if we’re being honest here, Michael and Nikita fans should probably brace themselves for the fact that tonight’s “Mikita” heavy instalment isn’t so much of a game-changer for our titular character as it is for Michael. So much so that after tonight, it’s pretty safe to say that he will never look at his current and former co-workers the same way again. Well, that and, now he really has a reason to keep that perma-scowl plastered across his face!

Fun With Photo Booth: Guess the Star!
Since we here at theTVaddict.com don’t quite have the financial wherewithal to erect a professional Entertainment Weekly-style photo studio at events like this past weekend’s WonderCon, we thought it might be fun to have the stars take their very own photo with our somewhat more cost-effective and portable iPad 2 Photo Booth App! But you can guess the star? Post away in the comments below and check back with theTVaddict.com for the answer which will be posted alongside tomorrow’s “Morning Static.”
The 7 Wonders of WonderCon 2011 (Part 2 feat. V, HUMAN TARGET and BREAKING IN)
V
Appearing for the V panel was creator/producer Scott Rosenbaum, along with stars Elizabeth Mitchell and Marc Singer. Each appeared stunned and grateful at the loyal fans’ appreciation and was effusive in turn for the dedication and support. While the show is still technically “on the bubble” and a third season in no way guaranteed, they were still excited about the possibility of another season and had lots of ideas to share about what they hope to see next.
As Elizabeth Mitchell candidly admitted, “There’s something in me that wants to talk less and fight more!” After brutally losing her son and holding her ex-husband as he died in her arms, surely Erica Evans’ days of hiding in the shadows and tentatively striking back against the Visitors is over. Thus, should a third season be granted, Elizabeth is looking forward to kicking some well-deserved alien butt!
