Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Comic Con Gripes
While there is no arguing about the magnitude of Comic Con, the annual event that sees hundreds of thousands of passionate pop culture addicts transform downtown San Diego into the world’s largest Cosplay arena, the facts are these: 120,000 attendees is a minuscule fraction of the internet audience as a whole. Which is why we constantly find ourselves scratching our head over various media outlets (Yes, you know who you are) continuous coverage leading up to the event. After-all, not only have all four days of the event already sold out months in advance making who-and-who-will-not be attending the convention a moot (or as FRIENDS’ Joey Tribbiani might put it, a “moo”) point, the media’s insistence on reporting all the big name stars who will be in attendance does little more than alienate the millions upon millions of readers who are not attending. We’re just sayin’
What’s the only thing more annoying than having to read about all the fantastic panels we won’t be attending at this summer’s Con? Listening to those covering the event take to Twitter to complain about it! Note to our brothers and sisters in arms. While we’re the first to acknowledge that you’re probably not making Matthew Weiner (MAD MEN) money covering television, it might behoove you to keep in mind that you are still getting paid to watch television and hobnob with actors for a living. Digging ditches, or flipping burgers you ain’t. [Read more…]
The TV Addict Guilt Watch [Publicly Embarrassing People Towards Better Viewing Habits Since 2011]
Dear TV Addict,
When I got married, I was prepared for better or worse, richer or power and sickness or health. What I wasn’t prepared for was… consistently having to sacrifice space on my, sorry our PVR/DVR for the likes of BETHANY, JERSEY SHORE and any show with the word “Housewives” in the title. So before I return home to yet another message alerting me to the fact that, say tonight’s 2011 MLB ALL-STAR GAME hasn’t recorded as a result of my wife’s obsession with trashy reality TV, I’ve decided to email you in the hopes of publicly guilting my better half [Yes, she knows who she is] into changing her viewing habits. See this PVR/DVR, this is what I have to put up with!
Thanks and keep up the great work,
James B,
Toronto, Canada
Are you tired of your favorite shows being cut off because your thoughtless husband, wife, partner, parent and/or roommate just had to record that TODDLER AND TIARAS marathon on TLC? Looking for a non-violent way in which to nudge publicly shame them towards better viewing habits? Email a photo of their embarrassing PVR/DVR along with a short message to danielthetvaddict@gmail.com.

Where Are They Now? ‘90s Teen Stars: Back on TOP and on TV!
By: Julie Waters
Prior to Disney’s tween-creation—in a time before Zack Efron and Selena Gomez—the ‘90s brought teenage programming to its full form, allowing high school girls everywhere the chance to drool over such “hotties” as Zack Morris, Brandon Walsh and, of course, Dawson himself.
So, what child of the ‘90s could refuse a second chance to watch these teen stars shine again? Who can resist Mark-Paul Gosselaar playing an often-shirtless lawyer…I know I can’t. Today’s shows are finding themselves sprinkled with a renaissance of these teen stars, now hotter and more irresistible than ever. Here’s where you can find them:
As mentioned above, Mark-Paul Gosselaar is back on TV as a sexy lawyer in FRANKLIN AND BASH. Gosselaar plays Peter Bash, a young lawyer—with some unconventional methods of practicing law—but with a knack for winning over the jury. Perhaps it’s inability to keep his shirt on or his tendency to make-out with his client on the stand, either way he’s won us over as well. Franklin and Bash is definitely a summer must-see.
