Because Everybody Deserves a Second Chance, We Implore You To Tune Into Tonight’s Fantastic Episode of SMASH
If you’re one of the 5 million or so SMASH viewers who found themselves somewhat underwhelmed after NBC pulled the curtain up on one of their most highly touted shows in recent memory, we here at theTVaddict.com would like to take this opportunity to implore you to give the show a second chance. For not only does tonight’s episode see the rivalry between our lovely leading ladies (Megan Hilty’s Ivy and Katharine McPhee’s Karen) take center stage as rehearsals for Marilyn the Musical get underway, former boy-bander Nick Jonas guests in a role that is surprisingly pivotal to the future or the show within the show. Add to that, a handful of memorable musical numbers including Jonas’ heart-stopping rendition of Michael Bublé’s “Haven’t Met You Yet” and McPhee rocking out to Adele’s “Rumor Has It,” one very eventful party at the swanky Manhattan loft of director Derek Wills (Jack Davenport) and to cap it all off nary a mention of Julia’s (Debra Messing) adoption woes and what you’re left with is an episode of SMASH that we all but guarantee will be music to your ears. But hey, don’t take our word for it, why not check it our for yourself at 10PM on NBC (CTV in Canada)

Review: Oscars Anything But Award Worthy
When the best thing one can say about last night’s 3-plus-hour Academy Awards is how glad we were that it wasn’t 4-plus-hours, well, you know you’re in trouble.
Of course, following the train wreck of a telecast that was the previous year’s James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosted affair, one pretty much knew what to expect from this year’s host Billy Crystal. “Comfort food,” was how writer/comedian Carol Leifer put it in our pre-show interview with her and in that sense Crystal succeeded on every level.
In fact, from his been-there-seen-that opening number that saw the nine-time master of ceremonies digitally insert himself into a handful of nominated movies (including cameos from George Clooney, Justin Bieber and Jonah Hill, among others), to his traditional opening movie melody in which he gently and very un-Gervais-like poked fun at Hollywood, the only surprising aspect of the Oscars’ opening number was how on earth a multimillion dollar production seen across the globe could allow for so many horrendous sound problems.
