BONES: Executive Producer Michael Peterson Looks Ahead to the Final Season

The BONES writers are already talking about the end of the series. Fox renewed the show for a shortened, 12-episode twelfth season and the writers are starting to break episodes for the final run. During a recent call with reporters, executive producer Michael Peterson talked about looking ahead to season 12.

“We really want this to be a grand ride-off into the sunset for the final 12 episodes for next season. And we will want to bring back as many guest cast as humanly possible and whoever is available. We’d love to get Cyndi [Lauper] back. We don’t have Betty [White] coming back for the second half of this season but we would love to have her come back next season. We have one episode in particular that we’re getting ready for for season 12 — we’re already starting to look at how we would break season 12 and we’d love her back for that. I think it’s going to be episode 3 next year. But we’re leaving it wide open.”

In terms of the actual series finale, Peterson said that “[he], Jon Collier, Stephen Nathan and Hart Hanson, we’re going to have breakfast soon. We have sort of the broad strokes of what we’re going to do for next season, but [creator] Hart is going to write the finale for the series, is what it looks like right now. So we’re really excited about that. He has a vision for how he wants the whole thing to end, which I am not privy to yet. So I can’t wait to sit down and see how we can incorporate it with everything else we have planned.”

BONES returns with all new episodes on Thursday, April 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
