NCIS: NEW ORLEANS Sneak Peek: Taken
The FBI seems to be having a hard time grasping how things work in The Big Easy.
The strictly by-the-book ways of new team member, FBI Special Agent Tammy Gregorio (Vanessa Ferlito) and her years in D.C. make her methods somewhat off-putting for the NCIS: NEW ORLEANS team, as does the approach of her FBI boss, Raymond Isler (guest star Derek Webster).
When Navy Petty Officer Drew Clarkson (guest star Jason Woods) is kidnapped, the NOLA team thinks there may be a link to another case in which a decorated officer was found dead in a sports arena.
Gregorio walks Drew’s parents, Susan (guest star Debbon Ayer) and Hank (guest star Demetrius Grosse) through the phone call from the kidnappers, which seems to originate from Mexico.
Upon hearing the call, Pride (Scott Bakula) and Lasalle (Lucas Black) hypothesize that the kidnappers and murderers could be the same people.
To the consternation of the FBI, NCIS: NEW ORLEANS decides to break protocol to rescue the abducted petty officer.
NCIS: NEW ORLEANS also stars Rob Kerkovich, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Shalita Grant and CCH Pounder. Additional guest stars in tonight’s episode, “Man on Fire,” are Carlos Ayala, Andy Dylan, Carlos Posas, Shannon Nicole and Julio Castillo.
Mario Lopez also guest stars as NOPD Officer Hernandez. “Man on Fire” was written by Zach Strauss and directed by Rob Morrow (star of NUMB3RS and NORTHERN EXPOSURE).
NCIS: NEW ORLEANS airs tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the U.S. and Global in Canada.
CHICAGO FIRE Season 5 Premiere Sneak Peek: Bringing Sexy Back
Chicago’s greatest firefighting squad is back tonight and the heart-pounding rescues and personal drama are coming right along with the premiere of CHICAGO FIRE.
In the sneak peek below we get to see Dawson dealing with the new ramifications of being a foster mom. Of course, she’s not completely alone because she has the help of Matt and the rest of the squad. In this clip even Herman and his wife lend a hand by apparently offering to babysit little Louis.
In between a school bus crash leaving two young boys trapped inside — one with a piece of metal skewered through his shoulder — the team also has plenty of drama to keep them busy. Severide and Stella deal with the fact that her ex broke into her apartment after checking himself out of the hospital, and the subsequent police action that might need to be taken despite her insistence that he is just a harmless junkie musician. There’s also a bit of sex appeal. Sylvie reads aloud some sort of over-played romantic smut piece, where all the characters eerily resemble the members of the 51. Through the dramatic reading a vital piece of house gossip might accidentally be revealed.
Tune in tonight to catch an all new CHICAGO FIRE at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
NCIS Sneak Peek: Murder Most Messy
After spending the better part of an evening researching why the Navy uses the term “tiger cruise” to define the program that allows certain family members and close friends aboard a ship to learn about sailors’ duties, I have found no definitive answer as to why that term is used. (Keep reading. I may have found one.)
The program, which encourages sailors to explain their jobs to guests who join them on a short cruise, has the potential to strengthen a bond and lessen stress on both sides when a ship is deployed.
Unfortunately, stress abounds on NCIS tonight when the body of a Navy lieutenant is discovered aboard a destroyer during a tiger cruise.
Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Quinn (Jennifer Esposito) and Palmer (Brian Dietzen) travel out to sea to investigate the death aboard the USS Hoover. The Hoover, which is sailing between Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville and the naval base in Norfolk, is carrying a full crew and 63 civilian “tigers” when the body is found.
Not only are the crew and families stressed, but so is Palmer who is subbing for Ducky (David McCallum) while gulping down seasick remedies.
Quinn also has concerns about her past as “the heartbreaker” coming to light when it is revealed that she once was the Agent-Afloat, at the same time as Navy Commander Eleadora Rey (guest star Andrea Grano). NCIS needs to solve the murder before the crew and civilians disembark and things get “messy” to quote Quinn.
Back at NCIS, McGee (Sean Murray) is stressed, trying to pick the perfect time and place to ask Delilah (guest star Margo Harshman) to marry him, bouncing ideas off of Bishop (Emily Wickersham) and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama).
Will the USS Hoover become the “Love Boat” for McGee’s proposal?
So, is there a fun reason that the adventure at sea is called a “tiger cruise” or is it as Commander Rey says “The real answer would bore you.”
The best answer I have found for the “bring your family to work day” for sailors is the film OPERATION PETTICOAT. Yes, there is a possibility that the Navy named the cruise for the fictional USS Sea Tiger, which carried refugees, Navy nurses, Cary Grant and Tony Curtis across the South Pacific in World War II.
Perhaps the reason will be explained tonight, but I am sure that DiNozzo would have figured out the movie reference much faster than I did.
NCIS also stars Pauley Perrette and Rocky Carroll. Other guest stars on this week’s episode, “Love Boat,” include Andrew Bowen, Wilmer Calderon, Michael McMillian, Madalyn Horcher, Mike Wade, Darin Toonder, Mary Gallagher, Taj Speights, Michele Panu and Jason David.
GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Hayley Erin who recently showed off her singing prowess on the soap, guests as pop star, Kasey Powers. “Love Boat” was written by Christopher J. Waild and directed by Terrence O’Hara.
NCIS airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the U.S. and Global TV in Canada.

SUPERGIRL Season 2 Premiere Preview: Just Cuz
Faster than a speeding bullet, SUPERGIRL producers are bringing Kara’s cousin, Superman, to National City to help the Girl of Steel kick off her first season of new episodes on The CW.
Tyler Hoechlin (TEEN WOLF, 7TH HEAVEN) brings the affability and winning smile of Superman back to the DCverse in the vein of Dean Cain and Christopher Reeve, as well as the endearing klutziness of Brandon Routh’s take on Clark Kent.
(I am so looking forward to Hoechlin and Routh, as Atom, running into each other sometime this season and exchanging “the look.”)
Season 2 starts off with a bang as The Venture Spaceship veers off course and seems set to explode. As Supergirl rushes to prevent the impending crash, Superman flies in from Metropolis to lend a hand.
The addition of Superman as a recurring guest star seems to be one of many changes as SUPERGIRL makes its move to The CW. On a separate Earth when the series was on CBS, will the Flashpoint effect be the reason that worlds will collide?
Maybe. Expect to see Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath), Lex’s sister, who has been many things in print…an infant, a telepath, an invalid, a computer simulation, et al. She appears NOT to be who she was in SMALLVILLE…Tess Mercer, a corporate mogul and an amalgam of Lena Luthor and Eve Teschmacher from the Christopher Reeve Superman films.
Lena may be a corporate mogul in SUPERGIRL, but Eve Teschmacher, is rumored to be Cat Grant’s new put-upon assistant. Played by Andrea Brooks of SUPERNATURAL’s “LARP and the Real Girl” and “No Exit,” poor Eve may wish she were back among the monsters.
More Superman/Supergirl characters will be on the canvas this season, some of whom are in tonight’s episode.
John Corben (guest star Frederick Schmidt) is in the credits, and as fans know, John Corben is the name of supervillain, Metallo, before his transformation. A bank robber, a war reporter, a killer or a super-soldier, which “Metallo” will show up in National City?
Chris Wood ditches his crazy-train Kai persona from THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and is cast as Mon-El. Another character with multiple versions, Mon-El could be a relative, a space fugitive saved by Jor-El before Krypton exploded, a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, a member of the Green Lantern Corps, or a combo of those and his several other iterations.
COUGAR TOWN’s Ian Gomez is slated as Snapper Carr of Justice League fame. Speculation is that he will take over the day-to-day management of CatCo to accommodate Calista Flockhart’s choice to become recurring when the show moved base to Vancouver for Season 2.
Perhaps the most anticipated newcomer to SUPERGIRL is the President of the United States. No, not that one. The new President is none other than WONDER WOMAN, Lynda Carter…a choice that could rally all political parties.
More rumored changes: James (Mehcad Brooks) and Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) relationship will change and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) may get a new job offer from Hank (David Harewood).
Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) will debut as an NCPD detective instead of being a member of the Science Police. Alex (Chyler Leigh) will struggle to find her fit in the new dynamic when Clark is in town, and Kara finally will get her promotion to reporter.
Season 2 of SUPERGIRL premieres tonight (October 10) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW (instead of CBS).
Check out the clip below for a preview and sneak peek of tonight’s episode and an extended version of the Superhero Fight Club featuring characters from SUPERGIRL, THE FLASH, ARROW and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (The CW’s 8:00pm lineup Mondays-Thursdays).
On TV Tonight: Monday October 10, 2016
CONVICTION Sneak Peek: The Blackmail of Hayes Morrison
The catalyst for the entire premise of ABC’s newest procedural drama, CONVICTION, is the blackmail of former first-daughter Hayes Morrison. When District Attorney Conner Wallace finds Hayes arrested for cocaine possession, he strikes a deal where Hayes can escape prison by working for his new Conviction Integrity Unit.
This shady political agreement might mean a new start for Hayes (and a continued clean family record for her mother, who is running for the Senate) but it may not all be in the past. As we see in the sneak peek below, Sam Spencer seems to have a journalist hot on his tail for this juicy political scoop. Now, because Hayes boldly announced her little skirmish with the law to her entire team, all of them now know her secret. It seems for the moment that Sam is resisting the urge to snitch and become the journalist’s source for the latest Hayes Morrison scandal, despite the fact that it will mean getting himself a promotion to leader of the CIU.
It also seems that Hayes will get a visit from her high-profile mother at work. But, is the visit propaganda for the campaign or general interest in her daughter’s life?
Catch and all new CONVICTION tonight (October 10) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC (U.S.) and CTV (Canada).
SCORPION: Walter Takes a Ride on a Rocket to Space
Everyone is stressed out at the garage when this week’s SCORPION begins: Walter isn’t happy about Paige and Tim, Toby is stressed out about Happy’s secret husband and Sylvester is unhappy about his friends’ moods.
Enter Elia, who needs help from Team Scorpion as his business runs into issues. Specifically, he needs Walter and the others to look into some issues with a space rocket before they lose a big contract. As Paige and Tim banter back in Mission Control, Walter turns off his coms inside the rocket. So when a storm blows into the area and strikes the rocket with lightening, the rocket’s launch sequence activates and the team can’t disable it. Which means Walter is hurtling off into space.
Fortunately, Walter is knowledgeable about space travel and its history and manages to do what he needs to in order to reboot the computers. But his parachutes and coms have malfunctioned, which means he’s flying blind and will crash back to earth once his rocket runs out of fuel.
Back on the ground the team struggles to establish communications with Walter and figure out a way to have someone pick him up before he crashes. But their biggest problem is the fact that Walter’s oxygen has run low and he’s hallucinating. It also means he has less than 30 minutes to live.
On the rocket Walter’s brain is convincing him that Paige is there with him, which leads some hilarious views of him dancing alone without gravity. It also leads to the real Paige having a conversation with Walter where he shares some big revelations.
Eventually a crazy, extremely dangerous and thrilling plan is enacted to save Walter’s life.
Don’t miss an all new episode of SCORPION tonight (October 10) at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS (U.S.) and CityTV (Canada).
SUPERGIRL Season 2: Melissa Benoist Teases What’s to Come
Tonight, Season 2 of SUPERGIRL premieres on The CW. For those who saw every episode of Season 1 on CBS and for new viewers watching the series on The CW for the first time, SUPERGIRL will have a new look.
Cast additions and many changes sparked by the show moving from Los Angeles to Vancouver will give the show that new look.
The series star, Melissa Benoist (Kara/Supergirl) had some time to spend discussing those changes, her character’s evolution, crossovers and the rumor of that musical episode. Here are her thoughts on…
What Benoist has learned about Supergirl since taking the role. In a lot of respects, Benoist still is learning a lot about her character. Last season, Kara spent a lot of time figuring out how to be a hero. Benoist admires “her fortitude…. her character…I’m always astonished by how much character she has. This character never gives up”. Melissa likes how Supergirl manages to handle a bad situation, even when things get dark and sticky.
Introducing Superman to the series this season. Asked if Superman would draw focus away from Supergirl, “It was the natural progression of this story. He is her only living family member.” In the season premiere, Kara says that she always has wanted an opportunity to team up with her cousin. “Whenever you’re around someone else in another superhero costume, it feels familial. Not many people get a chance to do that. It’s really exciting and flying with Superman is very cool.”
She thinks that Tyler Hoechlin is perfect casting for the Man of Steel. Last season, Clark/Superman was only personified by texts, and Benoist had to use her imagination to define her relationship with her cousin. “Now, I think of Tyler when I think of Superman, and it’s really nice to have that kind of relationship. The relationship feels closer and solidified, especially for Kara.”
“Now you get to see how amazing the relationship between Kal-El and Kara is, and he has relationships with everyone on the show”. He has history with a lot of these characters, and then others he meets for the first time…like Winn…and it’s hilarious. The producers have rewarded us with a wonderful cast.”
SUPERGIRL adding several new cast members this season. One of the new cast members is Chris Wood of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, who will be playing Mon-El. “Mon-El has fallen to Earth in a pod just like Kara’s and it’s pretty mysterious. They don’t know where he came from or how he got to Earth, but he has a huge role to play in this season and he’s going to change everyone’s lives. He’s part of a lot of changes in Season 2.” Mon-El makes his mysterious debut in the season premiere.
Lena Luthor’s arrival. Another cast addition is Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, sister of Superman nemesis, Lex Luthor. “When you add a Luthor to the mix, it’s not good for House of El. Lena comes to National City to rebrand her brother’s company in the name of good.” [Lex is currently in prison.]
Lena wants to change the world for the better. “That being said, it’s hard for anyone in the House of El to trust a Luthor. Clark and Kara both know that. But Kara and Lena’s relationship is an interesting one and one that we’re still figuring out.” It definitely could pose some changes and is an interesting relationship. “I think people will be really interested in [it].”
Her new CatCo boss, Snapper Carr. Kara gets a new boss this season as Cat Grant will be seen less because Calista Flockhart dropped to recurring status when the show moved to Vancouver. Cat’s absence could create one of Kara’s biggest challenges yet. There was a sort of comfort to the relationship with Cat — they were growing together and Cat pushed her to do her best. Kara really thrived from that guidance.
The new situation “is such a joy to play, and Ian Gomez is fantastic as Snapper Carr. He’s a great addition, although it doesn’t fill the void of Cat Grant for Kara.” “He pushes people past their limits, and he is a tough critic and boss to work for. That makes you a mentor when you challenge someone that much. He doesn’t make eye contact with Kara for the first few episodes. He doesn’t like Kara or Supergirl.” “Ian is sharp-witted, and he is a great addition to the CatCo world.” Snapper will cause Kara to grow in a different way. She may not like it. She doesn’t like change. But now she has to make her own success.
The show’s relocation to Vancouver. The show changed shooting locations when it moved from CBS to The CW. How does Melissa think the move from Los Angeles to Vancouver has changed the show? She thinks that being in a different country has brought the cast closer together. “In L.A., we would go home and live our regular lives outside of work. Now it’s solidifying. Everyone is really happy with scripts, because there are so many exciting new stories. Every character is getting a lot of attention, and a lot of changes are in store.”
The romance with James Olsen. One of those changes is Kara’s relationship with James changing from love to friendship. How is that affecting her? “I wouldn’t rule out anything for her this season. Relationships for a superhero are always complex. James and Kara’s relationship would change even if they decided to move forward. You can’t rule out that nothing will happen.”
On Lynda Carter’s new role and Carter’s barrier-breaking role as WONDER WOMAN. Carter, who will recur as the President of the United States, broke boundaries when she brought a female superhero to life in the ‘70s.
“I do think that women’s rights are prominent in politics, as it should be with women fighting for equality. I hope our show has done something to further that goal. Everyone should be on an even playing field.” “I learned a lot about that from Lynda. It should be that it’s so normal that it’s not an issue. Lynda was the only female superhero of her time, and that was very impressive.” “Everyone was so excited for her to come. She is just what you would expect. She is a joy to be around and has such wonderful stories. She has had such a unique perspective and looks amazing.”
On loss and attitude. Kara lost her Aunt Astra last season, and her relationship with James is about to go from love back to friendship. Is loss affecting her outlook? “A trait of Kara’s that I’ve always admired is how she chooses to find the positive in anything and she’s really working to overcome all of that loss”.
Last season, she experienced a tough loss, but Melissa thinks it is ingrained in Kara to “keep moving forward” and to keep fighting for what is right and good, regardless of any loss and pain. “I think that’s one of the constants about her, even when she’s shaken to the core — I think she knows she has to turn it to survive. She’s a survivor”.
Her new job as a reporter. Kara decides to accept Cat’s offer for a new position by becoming a reporter. It allows her to get out of the office more without having to make excuses as often, but it is a lot to juggle. “It will, I think, heighten her senses,” says Benoist. “It’s a huge part of her. She might be involved in something that she thinks is a good story, and now she can pursue that. It gives her a bigger purpose, too.”
On upcoming storylines. There is a 4-way crossover with THE FLASH, ARROW and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, a rumored Supergirl doppelgänger, a threat from Cadmus, and requests for a musical crossover with THE FLASH. (Benoist and Grant Gustin aka Barry Allen/The Flash were both on GLEE.) What were Melissa’s thoughts? “There would be unique and funny interactions with all. A chance to interact with ARROW could be fun, and of course, there is already a rapport with Barry. How fun is it to be with that many people in superhero outfits!”
On the doppelgänger storyline, “I really loved Red Kryptonite Kara. That was really fun to play.”
About Cadmus, “They are going from an outside threat to something closer, more ominous. You’ll see quite a bit of them up close.”
And on that musical crossover? “Wish I could [tell you more] but I don’t know much about it. It’s happening and I’m excited, but that’s all I know.”
SUPERGIRL airs tonight (October 10) at 8:00 p.m. on The CW
