It’s been three weeks since Dean Winchester went missing on SUPERNATURAL when the show returns for its fourteenth season. Specifically, it’s been three weeks since the archangel Michael absconded with Dean’s body after the eldest Winchester gave him permission to possess him in order to defeat Lucifer and save Sam and Jack. After having viewed the season premiere, we have a few teasers to share with you:
- Sam is burning the candle at both ends trying to find his brother. A sneak peek for the episode below shows us that he’s returning back to the bunker after a lead that might have led to Dean but actually went nowhere. Despite a lack of sleep, however, he’ll do everything he can to find Dean.
- With Dean gone, Sam gets to drive his brother’s beloved Impala. It doesn’t appear that he’s hooked up an iPod this time around, however, which will probably please Dean.
- The hunters from the alternate universe have made themselves at home in the Men of Letters bunker and they’re both searching for Dean and trying to deal with the supernatural in this world. Sam is acting as their leader — doling out assignments and make sure everyone is doing their job, and he seems to have a lot of respect, with these hunters willing to follow him.
- Mary is trying to keep herself in a positive mindset, always telling Sam *of course* they’ll find Dean. But there’s desperation under that determination. The sparks are also continuing between her and the alternate universe’s Bobby.
- Bobby is taking Jack under his wing and trying to teach him how to fight without his powers. The pair have a nice bonding/sparring session. Still, Jack is struggling because he’s never needed to know how to defend himself and he feels incredibly lost without his grace.
- Castiel tries to get information from a demon about Michael’s whereabouts but quickly ends up as bait when the demons — unsurprisingly — turn the tables on him.
- Make way for a charismatic demon who fancies himself the new King of Hell! And Crowley may be gone, but he’s definitely not yet forgotten, because his old liaisons with the Winchesters is a big part of the discussion here. Particularly when the new demon wants a chance to step into Crowley’s shoes — complete with his former “arrangement” with the Winchesters.
- We don’t get to see a great deal of Michael, but we do start to get a sense of what he’s looking for — specifically, he seems to be searching for answers. “What do you want?” is his favorite question to ask and it appears there’s a particular answer he’s looking for.
- Jensen Ackles shares the screen with his real-life wife, Danneel Ackles, who reprises her role as Sister Jo (see photos from the episode). The question is: will she join forces with Michael or not? Bonus: this scene gives us a sense of what angels actually see when they look at one another.
