You’ve seen the commercials. You’ve heard the hype. Now there’s only one thing you want to know: Which of the new fall shows are worth watching and which should be avoided at all costs? In this continuing series, we give you the scoop on some of the most highly-anticipated shows of the season, with today’s focus being RAISING HOPE. Also known as FOX’s latest attempt to launch a hit comedy that isn’t animated.
The Boilerplate: Since these pilot presentations may go through numerous rewrites and casting changes prior to premiere, this by no means should be considered an official review. Rather a preview of what one can expect come Fall.
The Elevator Pitch: One family and a baby.
Find Out Why We’re So Excited About *Another* Generic Procedural From CBS
Much like TNT, writer/producer Rina Mimoun knows drama. Which is why we’re so excited about the news [first reported my Deadline Hollywood’s Nellie Andreeva] that CBS has given the EVERWOOD, PRIVILEGED and GILMORE GIRLS alum a pilot commitment for EVERWOOD 2.0 an Untitled Medical Drama which will center on a father mother who reconnects with her teenage adult children when she moves to a small town and joins the family medical practice.

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Alex O’Loughlin Talks HAWAII FIVE-0
As I’m sure you know, HAWAII FIVE-0 will be the third go-around with CBS. Would it be fair to say you feel more confident this time around?
Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah, I do. I don’t want to take anything away from the other shows I’ve done because I’ve worked with some incredible people and some wonderful showrunners. But the thing is there’s a reason things either work or don’t work in television. And I don’t know what the answer is. I just sort of keep blundering along to the next thing and hoping. That said, this has — the team behind this, I mean, the two men who are at the helm of this show (Peter and Alex) and the writing staff that we have, it just feels, everyone feels so capable. And having seen what they did with the pilot, there’s just something special about it. So I mean if this one doesn’t go, I’m completely bewildered and have no idea how television works at all.
Advertising Anarchy: Move over Dexter Mogan, there’s a New Killer on Showtime’s Sked!
Inspired by last night’s viewing of the upcoming (and we should mention, highly entertaining) August 16th sixth season premiere of WEEDS, this TV Addict has decided to dedicate our latest instalment of Advertising Anarchy (Also known as our take on how networks might wish to consider promoting some of our favorite new and returning shows) to the show’s unsung hero: 15-year-old Shane Botwin. Who, thanks to his somewhat unorthodox use of a croquet mallet at the end of last season, now finds himself along with his family, on the run from Esteban and the Mexican mafia!
Blogger Beat Down: Too Much TV *May* Have Gotten to EW Critic Ken Tucker!
The subject of this week’s ‘Blogger Beat Down’ is… Entertainment Weekly TV Critic extraordinaire Ken Tucker, who last week put forth the opinion that hot on the heels of Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres’ exit, it might behoove FOX to cancel AMERICAN IDOL, “since it’s looking more and more as though it’s going to be a hollow shell of its hollow shell.”

Your TV Tech Fix: Are You Hitting AT&T’s New Data Cap?
In just the past few years, wireless hardware companies like Apple and HTC are pushing the mobile experience into new frontiers of versatility with amazing smartphones crammed full of nifty features. These devices, particularly the iPhone and Android variants, have become increasingly useful tools for surfing the Internet and staying connected with friends and family, but they’ve also become platforms for mobile audio and video streaming -some of them even make phone calls, too. Back then, regular mobile phones consumed “minutes.” Today, the modern smartphone gorges on data.
While the cellular providers like AT&T are pushing smartphones into the hands of every man, woman, and child, they’re taking away the valuable resource that makes these smartphones useful – data. Just a few months ago, AT&T took away their $30 “unlimited” (5GB glass ceiling) data plan and replaced it with a 200MB and 2GB plan priced at $15 and $25 respectively. Why? Because it’s easy to offer unlimited data when no one was using it. Today’s phones, with their access to Pandora, YouTube, Slingbox, Netflix, and Hulu can chew through data pretty quickly. So now that you can use it, they’re retracting the offer.
Figures.
