Over a Decade Later: FIREFLY Return Rumors Still Flying

Those who like FIREFLY tend to light up whenever it is mentioned.
In fact, you could make the argument that all of creator Joss Whedon’s shows have a distinct type of cult following that will fervently fight for the right to high quality sci-fi viewing. (Yes, even in the case of the somewhat disastrous DOLLHOUSE.) So it hasn’t been surprising to continually hear of the possibility of FIREFLY returning to a television reality after its untimely cancellation in 2002.
For those unfamiliar, FIREFLY takes place after a galactic civil war in the future. The show largely documents an endearing cast of characters who make their living as mercenaries as they fly around the outskirts of the solar system.
Even after the public managed to squeeze a full-length movie from Whedon in the form of Serenity, speculation about a possible return to primetime is still rampant online, and not just from fans. [Read more…]

Every great adventure tale needs a hero that is someone we can root for and in REVOLUTION, that is Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos) – a headstrong young woman bound and determined to rescue her brother from the evil clutches of a despot. But unbeknownst to Charlie, she had a lot more family than just a brother after her father was killed; she had an uncle and a long-lost mother who she thought was dead. So while in the mid-season finale, we saw Charlie reunited with her brother and her mother, that reunion may be tenuous as they flee the wrath of Col. Sebastian Monroe (David Lyons).
At the recent WB Mondo International Press Tour, star Tracy Spiridakos provided insight into the tumultuous relationship between Charlie and her nefarious uncle Miles (Billy Burke), as well as taking about how physically demanding the role is, and what she loves about the show. [Read more…]
Consumer Watchdog: Will Canadians Ever Stop Getting Screwed By Bell Media and Rogers’ Monopolizing Ways?

Good News: Years after HBO released their award-winning HBO GO service, Canadian counterpart Astral Media has finally unveiled TMN GO, their new service that “puts more than 1,500 hours of high-definition quality programming from The Movie Network, HBO Canada and The Movie Network Encore (TMN Encore) at subscribers’ fingertips. Bad News: According to an Astral press release, at launch, the service is only available to customers “of Bell Fibe TV, Bell Satellite TV and Cogeco Cable, with Rogers launching the service in the coming weeks and additional television providers expected to join shortly thereafter.”
Now, as a longtime Rogers customer, it’s not so much that this TV Addict is angry with not being able to access TMN GO at launch — after-all, taking full advantage of the service, not to mention many other fantastic legal online viewing alternatives such as Netflix is pretty much a moot point thanks to Canada’s ridiculously prohibitive and costly data caps. Rather our frustration stems from this being just the latest example of why hardworking and honest Canadians (Read: The ones who actually believe in legally paying for content that Networks and Studios spend hundreds of millions of dollars per year to produce!) continue to be helpless pawns for Canada’s two major telecommunication companies to take advantage of. What’s worse. This is just the beginning. [Read more…]
We Shine the Spotlight on ARROW Star Colin Donnell

Heroes are carefully crafted from the brutal sands of time, and in the CW series ARROW, Oliver Queen was forged by five harsh years trying to survive on an island hunted and tormented by oppressors at every turn. It steeled his resolve to return home and eradicate the evil festering in his home city so that those he loved would be free of such fear and domination. Fortunately for Oliver, he has a few key friends and family watching his back along the way. At last month’s WB Mondo International Press Tour, one such friend, actor Colin Donnell — who plays Oliver’s friend-turned-business-partner Tommy Merlyn — shared insights into his characters increasingly complex relationships, a few teasers about what’s upcoming on ARROW, and what TV Shows he’s addicted to on DVD.
