ARROW Gets the SMALLVILLE Treatment: Who Didn’t Wear it Better?!

August 16, 2012 By theTVaddict 3 Comments

Hot on the heels of The CW releasing a trifecta of posters touting their new fall offerings, this TV Addict — who as regular readers can attest to has an inexplicable need to highlight Hollywood’s penchant for making us see double — finds ourselves with little choice but to ask the Fall’s first slightly awkward albeit painfully obvious question: Who didn’t wear it better in their respective series premiere posters, SMALLVILLE’s Tom Welling or ARROW’s Stephen Amell? August 3, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

In the first season of FALLING SKIES, the final three episodes were all about talking the fight to the Skitters and Mechs and reminding the occupying aliens that we had not given up entirely on reclaiming our planet.  In fact, the 2nd Mass worked strategically with other pockets of resistance to launch a deadly attack against the aliens.  Not only did our heroes fight back and inflict some damage, they also found out that there was another alien species controlling the Skitters and Mechs: the Overlords.  [Read more…]

TCA 2012 Live Blog: LAST RESORT

July 27, 2012 By theTVaddict Leave a Comment

5:19PM: “What we have on the submarine is our own tight knit family and consequently we have a basis to test those loyalties on the show,” Andre Braugher says on the subject of his character’s relationship with Scott Speedman’s XO Sam Kenda. “Watching us start out as a family and slowly get torn apart is where things are really going to get fun.”

5:20PM: “I don’t have a lot of information to judge the world in which there is a white Andre Braugher who did better than I did,” is how Braugher brilliantly defers what has sadly become the obligatory question surrounding Hollywood’s lack of leading me of color.

5:22PM: “This is a show I couldn’t make five years ago because I didn’t possess the skill set,” reveals Shawn Ryan, who credits his work on THE SHEILD, CHICAGO CODE and TERRIERS with giving him the respective tools necessary for LAST RESORT’s serialized storytelling and incredibly high production values. June 28, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

The high-octane spy series BURN NOTICE may give off the impression it is an “all boy’s club,” but what would the show be without the powerful love story of Michael and Fiona. After all, Fiona was the only person who came to Michael’s rescue the minute she found out that the super spy had been “burned” by his former employer. For the past six seasons, Fiona has proven to be more than just the eye-candy or trigger happy-girlfriend, she has been the reason that Michael found the strength to pursue his oppressors and frequently spurned him into helping more than one client in distress. In a recent press conference call, star Gabrielle Anwar shared what it is like playing such a strong, powerful and capable woman on the show. [Read more…]

We Preview the Magnificent 2nd Season Premiere of DOWNTON ABBEY

January 8, 2012 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

The first season of DOWNTON ABBEY invited viewers back to the Edwardian times at an aristocrat estate in England just as the Titanic sank in 1912.  The subsequent story followed the ripple-effects of the loss of the estate’s current heir and the rise of an unknown succeeding heir – as lineage and the question of “who would inherit” were absolutely vital.

When a young barrister, Matthew Crawley, was discovered to be the next in line to inherit the vast estate of Downton Abbey, the current occupants, the Earl and Countess of Grantham as well as the rest of the Crawley family, were surprised and unsure how to welcome their newly discovered cousin.  Because the Earl and his wife had only daughters and no sons, it was thought that the estate’s heir should marry their eldest daughter to keep the estate in the family.  [Read more…]
