SUPERNATURAL Season Finale Extended Preview: Building a Bomb to Defeat Amara

May 23, 2016 By Clarissa 1 Comment

supernatural

The Winchester brothers are getting desperate as SUPERNATURAL ends its eleventh season. Amara seems almost unkillable and now God is weakened and Lucifer is (presumably) dead. How can Sam and Dean actually get rid of the Darkness?

There’s a new game plan on the table, but it’s one that seems to require a tremendous sacrifice: a soul bomb. The brothers head to a very haunted house to kill a bunch of restless ghosts so that their souls can be harvested and turned into a bomb. To do that, they’re getting a little bit of help from Billie the reaper. But here’s the bad news, courtesy of Rowena — Dean can’t just bring the bomb to Amara….he has to *be* the bomb.

Will the elder Winchester make it out of his confrontation with Amara alive? Will God step in at the last minute with a plan that doesn’t require Dean’s sacrifice?

Watch an extended preview below and tune in to the season finale of SUPERNATURAL on May 25 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

SUPERNATURAL season finales usually culminate in a big battle and a cliffhanger and we are likely working our way up to both again as season 11 comes to a close.

The CW is keeping mum about details regarding the finale. All they’ve said is “God (guest star Rob Benedict) comes to a decision about Amara (guest star Emily Swallows) that has direct repercussions for Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles).”

But here’s what we do know, thanks to the preview: the Winchesters are going to build a “soul bomb” to blow Amara to kingdom-come, because it seems like God’s plan to lock her up isn’t going to work any longer. Billie is also stopping by to lend some reaper assistance (maybe to help the brothers collect souls?). Unfortunately, Rowena says that Dean is going to have to *be* the bomb. Will the eldest Winchester make it out of his confrontation with Amara alive? And what about God, who was weakened by Amara in the penultimate episode?

Don’t miss the season finale of SUPERNATURAL airing on  May 25 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. But don’t worry, SUPERNATURAL fans, The CW has already renewed the show for a 12th season!

SUPERNATURAL Season Finale Preview: The Big Showdown

May 18, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural

God and Lucifer brought dysfunctional family reunions to a whole new level in the penultimate episode of SUPERNATURAL. Lucifer just wanted an apology for God giving him the Mark of Cain and then locking him away when it corrupted him. God resisted at first, but eventually admitted he had done wrong by Lucifer. Still, despite the mending of age-old bridges, God and Lucifer wouldn’t be enough to lock Amara away again. So the Winchesters suggested they approach the demons (via Crowley), the angels and Rowena/the witches for some extra muscle.

Dean kept suggesting they kill Amara instead of just locking her away, but God insisted they needed darkness to continue to exist in the universe, even if it was locked up. Meanwhile, Amara got the location of the bunker out of the prophet we met last week and headed there. At the same time, God rallied his troops. Rowena lured Amara to their location, but her witches were taken down by the Darkness easily. The demons came next and did some damage to her, but Amara was still walking. God went to lock her away again, but she was having none of it. She burned Lucifer out of Cas and then attacked her brother, dealing him a big and near-fatal injury. Thus began the end of the world.

We’re heading for the big showdown with Amara in the SUPERNATURAL season finale next week, but will of them survive? From the looks of the preview below, our heroes are trying to collect souls to build a bomb big enough to kill Amara. But Dean will actually be carrying the bomb inside of himself. Will he make it out alive?

SUPERNATURAL Sneak Peek: Can Chuck and Lucifer Work Through Age-Old Issues?

May 18, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural

Sam and Dean Winchester are playing therapist in the penultimate episode of SUPERNATURAL this week. The brothers teamed up with a new prophet to help rescue Lucifer from Amara last week and now they have to get the Devil and his Dad to work together for the good of the world.

Browse through photos for the penultimate episode of SUPERNATURAL

Cue an uncomfortable chat between Chuck (a.k.a. God) and Lucifer. Lucifer basically wants to know why Daddy Dearest locked him in a cage in Hell all those years ago and Dean suggests they try “I feel” statements. Unfortunately, Chuck doesn’t seem like he gets the point of this little bonding session and doesn’t feel he should apologize to Lucifer.

Elsewhere in the episode, it looks like Chuck wants to recruit the angels and the demons to help fight his sister. Will the natural enemies unite for the greater good?

Don’t miss an all new episode of SUPERNATURAL tonight (May 18) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. And if you didn’t hear the news already, there’s going to be a bit of a shake-up regarding the SUPERNATURAL showrunner position as the show moves into its 12th season.

SUPERNATURAL Gets a New (But Familiar) Showrunner

May 13, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural

SUPERNATURAL’s longevity (coming up on 12 seasons in the fall of 2016!) means that the show has gone through a few changes over the years. While stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have been there since the pilot episode, the writing staff has changed a bit over the years.

Warner Bros. has confirmed that current co-showrunner, Jeremy Carver, is stepping down. Carver’s new series, FREQUENCY, was recently picked up to series by The CW, which accounts for the change. He joined SUPERNATURAL in season 3 and then left to run Syfy’s BEING HUMAN, only to return in season 8 when Sera Gamble (who succeeded the show’s creator Eric Kripke as executive producer) departed.

In season 12, Andrew Dabb, who has been a writer on the show since season 4, will be taking over the reigns and will act as co-showrunner along with Robert Singer, who has been with the series since season 1.

Dabb penned the upcoming SUPERNATURAL season finale, which will air on May 25 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

The penultimate episodes of SUPERNATURAL are all about the set-up for the big finale. Last season Dean went on a rampage in the penultimate episode, massacring the Styne family in retaliation for the death of Charlie. And this eventually led him to a showdown with his brother, who was also working to save him. That storyline ended with the release of the Darkness and now it’s a confrontation with Amara that we seem to be working up to in this season’s finale.

But before that can happen, the Winchesters will need to figure out how to take her down. They seem to have God and Lucifer in their corner now, but will that be enough to lock the Darkness away or to kill her? The synopsis for the episode simply warns that Sam and Dean “will face their biggest challenge yet”, but that’s not very informative, is it? The episode is titled “We Happy Few”, which is likely a shout out to the “St Crispin’s Day Speech” from William Shakespeare’s play, Henry V. In the play (based on the real Battle of Agincourt), King Henry rallies his troops so that they can triumph over their enemies. Towards the end of the speech, Henry utters the lines “We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother.”

Now, thanks to a preview for this upcoming episode, we know exactly what “band of brothers” will need to gather together on the battlefield: angels, demons, God and the Winchesters. It’s likely that the angels and demons won’t be very happy about working together, but perhaps maintaining the status quo of the universe will be enough motivation for a temporary alliance.

Elsewhere in the episode, “Rowena makes her move”. But who is she allying herself with this time?

SUPERNATURAL Preview: Building an Army of Enemies to Fight Amara

May 11, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural

God had to prove himself as God in this week’s SUPERNATURAL. Naturally, the Winchester brothers were a little disbelieving, but he did a little transporting and sent Kevin’s spirit to Heaven and managed to convince them that he was the big guy. Later, Amara showed Dean that she was having a grand old time torturing Casifer, prompting the Winchesters to come up with a plan to rescue him. Thanks to Metatron, they got a lead on a man named Donatello who was caught up in an Amara toxic fog (which took out a whole town) and survived because he was chosen as a prophet. They brought him back to the bunker and introduced him to God, then headed out to meet Metatron. He revealed that Chuck is going to sacrifice himself to his sister and handed them God’s autobiography as proof.

Dean went to confront God about his impending death by suicide. God revealed that he expects Amara to cage him in exchange for agreeing to his terms. And if he fails, he expects the Winchesters and the other chosen to take her down. Metatron offered to team up with the brothers, so Dean met with Amara to keep her distracted as Sam, Metatron, and Donatello rescued Casifer. Amara wanted Dean to give up on the world and join her, while Sam tried to convince Lucifer to join with them to defeat Amara. Amara realized Dean was stalling her just as Sam escaped with Casifer and the prophet, with Metatron stayed behind and was killed. God managed to save Sam, Casifer and Donatello from Amara’s wrath and healed Casifer’s injuries after a tense father-son reunion. In the end, the brothers said goodbye to Donatello.

In next week’s episode of SUPERNATURAL, God tells the Winchesters that they need to recruit the angels *and* the demons in order to defeat Amara. Naturally, Sam and Dean are skeptical as to how that will work, what with the two factions being immortal enemies and all.

SUPERNATURAL Sneak Peek: God as a House Guest

May 11, 2016 By Clarissa Leave a Comment

supernatural

With the revelation that Chuck is actually God in the last episode of SUPERNATURAL — and the fact that he also revealed himself to the Winchester brothers — Sam and Dean have landed themselves a new house guest. And it looks like he takes a lot of long showers and likes to sing terrible songs. Dean doesn’t mind telling God to simmer down when he keeps them up at night with his singing, but Sam is just really eager to know the secrets of the universe (like why God made the planets round). Of course, given Sam’s history, he may also want to ask “why did you let me rot in Hell for so long, God?”, which is a valid question.

Elsewhere in the episode, Amara is having a bit too much fun torturing Casifer, so Sam teams up with Metatron and a mysterious new character (named Donatello), to rescue the devil (see photos for the episode). Will God be having a family reunion with one of his archangels tonight?

An all new SUPERNATURAL airs tonight (May 11) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
