It’s Not Easy Being Green: Rebecca Mader Dishes on Playing the Wonderfully Wicked Witch Zelena on ONCE UPON A TIME

April 6, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Zelena once upon a time rebecca mader

Of all the villains that ONCE UPON A TIME has presented, ranging from the Evil Queen to Rumplestiltskin to Peter Pan, perhaps none have been as curiously portrayed as the Wicked Witch, Zelena. It is the brilliant green hue that seems to hover about her and it reminds us of the magic of Oz.

ONCE UPON A TIME may cross between Fairytale Land and Storybrooke, but the allure of the golden brick road, those magical ruby slippers and the omnipresent Oz seems to hover around the Wicked Witch. We wonder at her life before she encountered our heroes and stole their castle in Fairytale Land — and just why she brought them all back (minds erased) to Storybrooke. Just what is this magnificent woman’s story and what is she up to?

All this and more teases are brains and we are just itching to know the answers. In an exclusive interview, newcomer Rebecca Mader teased a bit about the Wicked Witch’s backstory and just how she may be the victim in this tale. Could it be that Zelena was not always so wicked, nor green? [Read more…]

CONTINUUM Preview: Season 3 Offers Time-Jumps, Time-Loops and Time-Travel

April 4, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

continuum cast

For a show premised on the idea that in the year 2077, a terrorist group known as Liber8 traveled back in time 65 years to 2012 in order to prevent big corporations from rising up and controlling government and the entire world, CONTINUUM’s third season really throws a wrinkle into the rules of time-travel.

When we last saw our heroes and villains in the Season 2 finale, Alec Sadler (Erik Knudsen) had just watched his girlfriend Emily aka Maya (Magda Apanowicz) be killed. Faced with the choice of allowing Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) to return to her time in 2077 or taking the risk of creating a time-loop, Alec barely hesitated. He may trust and feel loyalty to Kiera, but his love for Emily was not going to be constrained by the laws of time and physics – if Alec could save Emily, he was going to. So Alec stole Kiera’s last chance at getting back to her time and jumped back in time to a point where he would be able to save Emily’s life.

Season 3 of CONTINUUM returns with Kiera seemingly stuck without a way to get to Alec and fix the damage he has done, nor can she return home to her time where her son awaits her. [Read more…]

April 2, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

Henry Ian Cusick

It is difficult to look into the hearts of men, and one can only make assumptions based on a man’s actions. When first introduced to Councilor Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) in the new CW drama series THE 100, his motives will seem murky and self-serving. But with each passing episode and, as the layers of the story are pulled back, there just may be something else going on entirely.

During press interviews at the Warner Bros. Mondo Television International Press Tour, star Henry Ian Cusick talked about Councilor Kane’s motivations and the need to make hard choices even if it makes you look like a villain. [Read more…]

April 1, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

mindy project cast

In the midst of its second season, THE MINDY PROJECT continues to follow the romantic misadventures of Dr. Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) and her co-workers at their medical practice in New York City. When the show last left off, Mindy and Dr. Danny Castellano (Chris Messina) had finally succumb to their burning sexual attraction and kissed while enroute to back to New York after a desert adventure in search of Danny’s estranged father. Sure to pick back up where that kiss left off, or after much speculation of where it ended, THE MINDY PROJECT returns this week with an all new episode entitled “French Me, You Idiot.”

While attending last week’s PaleyFest 2014, taking a moment to provide snappy answers to a few questions on the red carpet the cast of THE MINDY PROJECT revealed fun answers to the questions: what their characters’ idea of a perfect romantic getaway would be, the perfect love song for that romantic getaway, and the one quality they most appreciate and admire about their zany characters that populate Shulman & Associates. star-crossed, Matt Lanter, Aimee Teegarden

With only six of its thirteen episodes of its first season having aired, fans of the new series STAR-CROSSED have fallen under its spell. From the very first episode, everyone fell in love with the star-crossed love story of Roman (Matt Lanter) and Emery (Aimee Teegarden), the alien boy and the human girl. Watching their meet-cute at the tender age of six as young Emery shared spaghetti with the young alien boy hiding in her garage, how could we not?

Flash-forward 10 years later and it is the first day at school at Marshall High. It is not only Emery’s first day as she has just been released from the hospital after a long, painful recovery, it is Roman’s first day as well — for it had taken ten years before humans would finally allow a few chosen Atrians teens to attend a local high school as a trial program to integrate the alien and humans. DROP DEAD DIVA Preview: How Hard Can A First Date Really Be?

March 30, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

drop dead diva cast

When devoted fans first began watching DROP DEAD DIVA, there was not much time to get to know Deb Dobkins (Brooke D’Orsay) and Grayson Kent (Jackson Hurst) as a couple. Deb was unfortunately killed in a car accident right away and her soul returned into the body of Jane Bingham (Brooke Elliott), a co-worker of Grayson.

The subsequent five seasons provided some fertile comedy and lots of laughs watching Deb, now known as Jane, acclimate to a new body, a new job and a new lifestyle – one where she and Grayson were just friends because he did not know her true identity. There was much love and comedy between the two, as Grayson never truly knew that Deb was still with him and was by his side nearly every day. [Read more…]

“Last Call” Preview: A Closer Look at THE GOOD WIFE Following Last Sunday’s Shocker

March 30, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

ALICIAPHONE

The heartbreaking surprise of last week’s episode on THE GOOD WIFE was the sudden and shocking death of Will Gardner (Josh Charles). Due to the utmost secrecy of everyone involved, audiences everywhere gasped in unison and distress when Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) came across Will’s lifeless body, unattended in the hospital emergency room.

It should have been obvious that something devastating was about to happen as the gunshots rang out and the entire courthouse erupted. But as Kalinda and Diane (Christine Baranski) made their way towards the bloody courtroom, there was always a moment of hope that Will would survive, that the paramedics would reach him in time and save his life. After all, D.A. Finn Polmar (Matthew Goode) had pulled Will to safety.

But just like Kalinda and Diane, the audience was caught off guard and sat in silence as the horrifying reality set in. THE GOOD WIFE had dared to kill off one of its most beloved characters. It was small consolation as the producers and star Josh Charles all took to the internet and news shows to reassure devastated fans that it was Josh’s choice to leave the show and that his exit had been planned for nearly a year. Even harder to process and accept was learning that Josh chose to stay with the show in a directing capacity. [Read more…]

HELIX Season Finale Preview: Can A Virus Creating Immortals Be Stopped?

March 28, 2014 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

helix cast

When HELIX first premiered it was easy to assume that the virus that had infected the Vectors was something destructive and must be cured. But as the series went on, viewers learned how the virus was carefully manufactured to create a crisis specific enough to lure Julia Walker (Kyra ZaorskY) along with the CDC team helmed by Dr. Alan Farragut (Billy Campbell) to the remote Artic Bio Labs – all because the virus needed to be tested and Julia, as the biological child of Hatake (Hiroyuki Sanada), was selected to be the perfect test candidate.

So infecting Alan’s brother Peter (Neil Napier), one of the Artic Bio Labs researchers, was all just part of a master plan to help an already immortal group of people (known simply as “The 500”) find a way to infect the entire planet and weed out the undesirables; thereby expanding their race of immortals who would be the only remaining survivors.

Sounds a bit convoluted, but that is essentially how HELIX played out. It was not an uncontained virus run amuck, but rather a strategic plan to lure the necessary people to one location under the perfect testing conditions. [Read more…]
