It’s every parent’s worst nightmare: a kidnapped child. In the new NBC drama CRISIS, the terror is heightened by the fact that a school bus full of high-ranking political and affulent business people’s children are the victims of a mass kidnapping. The show asks the scary question: how far would you go to protect your child? The answer is: you would do anything. And that is terrifying when the parent may be the President of the United States with nuclear codes at his finger tips or a business woman who has no qualms about handing over millions of dollars in ransom that could be used to fund a terrorist attack – all in hope of getting their children back.
With dozens of panicked parents willing to take the law into their own hands, who have infinite sums of money at their disposal and more power than any one person should ever have, CRISIS shows how using children as bargaining chips is a much more effective way to get exactly what they want – and when they want it. In the new CW series THE 100, this is the unexpected journey of Finn Collins (Thomas McDonell). On the space station known as the Ark, he could afford to be a wild rebel, but once banished to Earth, the stakes have changed dramatically and he must either step up or get killed by an environment he was never prepared to live amongst.

For one, these are teens not used to having responsibility for themselves and their own survival. What makes a good leader? This is the question that will be asked time and time again throughout the new CW series THE 100. When one hundred juvenile delinquent teens are sent back to Earth from their home on a space station, not a single adult accompanies them and they are left to fend for themselves once they arrive on the abandoned planet. Quickly rising to a position of power is Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley), a young man of questionable moral values, but who has a strong motive for ensuring everyone’s safety.

The entire premise of THE 100 is the life and death stakes of survival. It sets up two distinct worlds, one on the dying space station known as the Ark and the other where one hundred juvenile delinquents are sent back to Earth to see if they can survive. For young teen Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor), she seems to be the only one who instinctively understands that all their lives are at risk the moment they set foot on Earth. If the radiation doesn’t kill them, then something else just might.

Sophia, as described by Brina, is a gentle soul whose curiosity may get the better of her. She is so open-hearted that it is hard for her to understand why the humans and Atrians are unable to get along and accept each other. There is a popular belief in television that most TV shows experience a creative lull in their second season, which gave rise to the phrase “sophomore slump.” Accordingly, many TV shows have been cited as examples of shows, which knocked it out of the park creatively in their first season, to only fall prey to a period of sluggishness in their second year. In the new Sundance Channel original series THE RED ROAD, a brewing conflict erupts when a young teenage Native American boy is killed and caught in the crosshairs are a policeman’s family and the tribe seeking justice.
