May 31, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt 6 Comments

As we say goodbye to MERLIN, it is time to take a quick look back at the series which swept us off our feet and into a magical world of kings and queens, wizards and dragons.  In fantasy lore there is no more famous name than Merlin; for everyone has heard of the young warlock and his nemesis Morgana – not to mention King Arthur, who was destined to pull a sword out of stone to unite the kingdom of Camelot.   When MERLIN debuted 5 years ago, fans across the globe were struck by the refreshing tale of how a young Merlin (Colin Morgan) came to meet his future king, then known as only Prince Arthur (Bradley James), and the infamous women that would shape their lives: Morgana (Katie McGrath) and Guinevere (Angel Coulby).  [Read more…]

What would any great drama be without a great villain to give our heroes someone to fight against?  In REVOLUTION, Col. Sebastian Monroe (David Lyons) holds the dubious distinction of being the big bad villain.  He not only abducts children, but who will ruthlessly kill anyone who gets in his way from absolute power – both literally and figuratively.  Yet behind the mask of this villain is the heart of a charming young actor, David Lyons, who at the WB Mondo International Press Tour, provided his insight into the tricky relationship between his character Monroe and Miles Matheson (Billy Burke). ORPHAN BLACK Redux: Clone Club Implodes

May 24, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

In last week’s episode “Entangled Bank” we saw Sarah, Cosima and Allison (all played by Tatiana Maslany) spiraling out in their lives.  Cosima took a giant leap and seduced her monitor Delphine (Evelyne Brouchu), which only gave Delphine the perfect opportunity to snoop around and get a good look at Cosima’s notes on all the clones.  Then Allison revealed that her and her husband Donnie (Kristian Bruun) were getting a divorce, which led to drunken binging and sleeping with her suspected monitor’s husband.  And Sarah, trying to hold the clone club together, decided to enlist Mrs. S (Maria Doyle Kennedy) into the club and see what information she could provide.  Unfortunately, little Kira (Skyler Wexler) bore the brunt of all the clones’ secrets when she happily took Helena’s hand for a walk, which ended tragically. As REVOLUTION rides towards what we suspect will be a thrilling first season finale on June 3rd, theTVaddict.com thought now might be as good a time as any to shine the spotlight on some of the stars that make this hit NBC show must see TV. Stars like the riveting Giancarlo Esposito, who at a recent WB event, revealed how he see his character Tom Neville, the challenges of playing a character so seemingly gentle on the surface, and why he almost turned down a career-making role on BREAKING BAD. ORPHAN BLACK: An Ode to Felix, The Best Brother Ever

May 18, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt 1 Comment

Everyone is talking about the mesmerizing chameleon work of Tatiana Maslany as her various incarnations in the series ORPHAN BLACK, but one of the more fascinating characters making up the clone-club world is Sarah’s right-hand man, Felix (Jordan Gravaris).

Sarah would literally be up a creek without the one person who has her back, her foster-brother Felix; even Paul (Dylan Bruce) had not been solidly on Sarah’s side to support her and help her until last week’s episode “Parts Developed In An Unusual Manner.”  Before that, Paul was really just monitoring Sarah’s increasingly erratic behavior.  It had been Paul’s job to only watch, not assist.  [Read more…]

DOCTOR WHO Redux: The Mystery of ‘The Name of The Doctor’

May 18, 2013 By Tiffany Vogt Leave a Comment

There is no greater mystery in DOCTOR WHO than the name of The Doctor (Matt Smith).  That is until The Doctor met Clara Oswald (Jenna Louise Coleman) – “The  Impossible Girl” who kept dying on him.  As the show’s seventh season comes to an end this Saturday, fans are going to be wondering which of the two massive mysteries will DOCTOR WHO answer.  Given the unlikelihood that a show that has been on for over 50 years would choose to reveal it’s grand mystery as to The Doctor’s identity, it is more likely that we will instead find out how it is possible for Clara Oswald to keep popping up in The Doctor’s life.   But it will be a shame if they do for it has provided a grand mystery for the past season.   [Read more…]
