Just thought I’d point out an interesting article from today’s Detroit News. Mekeisha Madden Toby, a Detroit News Television Critic writes about how successful Rory’s past boyfriends (or friends) have become in the TV biz. Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia, Adam Brody, and Chad Michael Murray have all gone on to larger TV/Movie projects following their stint as Rory’s boyfriend. Saved By The Bell: The Animated Series?
The Cartoon Network has announced that for the next two weeks, SAVED BY THE BELL will be a part of Adult Swim – the network’s late night comedy block.
Not suprisingly, Adult Swim fans are up-in-arms about this recent development. Personally, I’m all for any network that gives a classic favourite such as SBTB more airtime, but I too am a bit perplexed by it’s addition to a ‘Cartoon’ Network!
The network spokesperson responded by stating that the sitcom’s addition to Adult Swim is nothing more then many Adult Swim fans being fans of the classic sitcom hit.
I Love Rose not Veronica
Could Bright be any funnier? I never would have imagined when Bright was introduced four years ago that he would evolve from the cardboard stereotypical high school bully to the multi-layered brilliantly funny character he now is. From calling Amy ‘Phi Beta Fembot’ to branding her friends ‘Mary Kate and Ashley’, when Bright’s on screen, I’m smiling. How nice was it to see Hannah actually put Amy in her place? I’m so not enjoying Amy’s new ‘save the world’ college persona. Dr. Brown and Jake had a nice story, but I’m feel a bit misled by the WB marketing department (what a surprise!). I thought our car crash victim would have been a character we actually knew, not Ryan Hurst from Remember the Titans (he has really bad luck with cars!). Of course the highlight of the episode was Dr. Abbott and Rose. Rose dabbling in medicinal marijuana was priceless, and Dr. Abbott’s jealousy of Bill ‘sounds like something you’d lance’ Schmicker was great to see. Dr. Abbott should be appreciating every moment he has with Rose, as I’m not sure how much longer she’s going to be around. My only qualm with the episode was the ‘Reed’ story. If EVERWOOD isn’t picked up for a much deserved fifth season, do we really need precious story time wasted on character we don’t care about?
A quick thought on PRISON BREAK. I thoroughly enjoyed last night’s episode. It was great to see our intrepid gang (who I feel so much sympathy for now that I’ve seen their flashbacks!) try and save Michael’s cell in a futile poker game. I’m also loving DB Cooper – I hope the old man gets to see his daughter before she dies. Of course, if they break out, won’t the cops be staking out her house first? Finally, the fast forward part of the show, as always, was Veronica’s storyline. Clearly she isn’t going to find a legal way to stop the execution, so can the glorified bodyguard just kill her so we can get rid of her storyline. From episode 1 Veronica’s story has been a complete drag on the series, and sucks out all energy from any scene she’s in.

Great Everwood Interview
I just wanted to point everyone to a fantastic interview with EVERWOOD creator Greg Berlanti. You can read the Chicago Tribune interview by clicking here. Thanks to ‘K’ for pointing it out. Another incredible episode of EVERWOOD can be viewed tonight at 9pm on the WB.
Monday Musings
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES still makes me laugh. Forget the tabloid headlines, the ridiculous overexposure and all the behind the scenes antics – the show is funny. Any show that has the guts to allow Mrs. McCluskey (the awesome Kathryn Joosten) spout lines like, “Parker offered me a Fudgsicle if I showed him my vagina” deserves to be watched. (Personal Rule, Woman (and Men for that matter) over a certain age should not be allowed to say the ‘V’ word on TV). Aside from Parker’s antics, which were priceless, I also loved watching Mrs. Tilman’s (Harriet Sansom Harris) futile attemptes to kill Paul. Having her look over and say, “Something Smells Good Over There,” as Paul almost burns his face off with lighter fluid while starting the BBQ was great.
Following DH was the premiere of WHAT ABOUT BRIAN. While I didn’t love the first episode, I enjoyed it enough to give it a second try tonight at 10pm (ABC, 8pm on CTV). Barry Watson surprises us with the fact he is charming and can actually act (having escaped from the painfully weak writing and acting on 7th HEAVEN). Sarah Lancaster shines as Madison, ummmm I mean Marjorie. I have loved Sarah since EVERWOOD and am really rooting for her to do well.
Speaking of which, be sure to watch EVERWOOD tonight, it’s on at 9pm on the WB. It is hands down the best show on TV.
Exclusive Interview: Lauren Collins
theTVaddict.com is thrilled to announce that our first Exclusive Celebrity Interview will be with Lauren Collins. Lauren currently stars as Paige, on Degrassi The Next Generation (New episodes air on the N at 8pm on Friday, and CTV in Canada).
Throughout its five seasons on the air, Lauren’s portrayal of Paige has lead her to become a fan favourite. As she puts it, her class is “the most cursed class in history.” As Paige herself has been date raped; hooked up with a student teacher, getting him fired; got high, blowing her college interview; and most recently, experimented with switching teams, dating Alex. You can learn more about Degrassi by visiting the official web site. You can also check out Lauren Collins official web site by clicking here.
theTVaddict’s history with Degrassi goes back a long way. In fact, a little known fact is that theTVaddict’s cousin is Stephanie K (‘all the way with Stephanie K’) from the original series. While I’ve got a lot of questions for Lauren, I’d love to be able to ask your questions, so if you have any for Lauren, post below or email info@thetvaddict.com
We’ll Miss You Leo
I was prepared for tears. I had the kleenex ready. I knew what I was in for. A funeral, never fun to watch – even a televised one. But let me say this, I didn’t exect to be watching this evening’s WEST WING with a huge smile on my face. I almost felt guilty. All of my favourites were back. Danny Concannon, Amy Gardner (the unbelievably sexy Mary Louise Parker), Ainsley Hayes (Emily Proctor taking a break from CSI), Zoe, Joey Lucas, Leo’s daughter (I’m blanking on the name) and all of the great White House secretaries. It was so nice to see everyone back together, it was almost a reunion special, except for the fact that every once in a while I had to remember that I was supposed to be sad. Not to beat a dead horse, but the episode really was a celebration of Leo’s life – Leo would have had it no other way.
From a critical perspective, it has been really interesting to see how the show’s writers have dealt with John Spencer’s death. I think they’ve handled John Spencer’s tragic passing with dignity and class. I do often wonder though, how would the show have ended if Leo hadn’t died?
One other WEST WING tidbit, I’m loving what I’m coining ‘Pennsylvania Avenue 20500’ CJ and Danny, Josh and Donna, Will and NSA chick. It’s so nice to see everyone ending off on a happy note!
