So over the past few weeks, I’ve been taking quite a few shots at SMALLVILLE, so let me be the first (in the entire internet world) to say that I actually enjoyed last night’s episode. Putting aside the fact that there is no way that Senator Kent could go ‘missing’ so easily, and I’m pretty sure Lionel and Lex have both been ‘almost’ killed by ex-employees on at least 10 different occasions – the episode told an interesting story, that sets up the series for an excellent final few episodes. It was great to see Lionel actually get 100% confirmation on Clark’s powers (and Lex get closer to the truth). It was getting to a point of ridiculousness that Lionel and Lex hadn’t pieced together the truth about Clark yet. I mean Clark hasn’t even started wearing glasses yet, that alone could have thrown them off the scent for another three seasons!

A BIG Question
Firstly, BIG LOVE lends itself to so many catchy titles (see above!). Secondly, I just finished watching episode 6 of BIG LOVE, I’m loving the show more and more. It’s amazing how I can feel so bad for all three wives, while at the same time think they’re all a bit nuts. Poor Margene, she’s way too lonely, which is going to definitely be leading to something highly inappropriate with her ‘son’ Ben. Nikki, as psycho as she appears to be, must feel constantly demoralized being the second wife. It must suck to never get to actually acknowledge that she’s married to Bill. Finally Barb, it was really nice to learn more about her sickness, and how Nikki essentially nursed her back to health. A final thought on the show. How is it that he Henrickson’s lawn doesn’t have grass? Doesn’t Bill own two massive home stores? What’s the deal?
Supersized OFFICE Finale
For Years, NBC has been subjecting us poor viewers do endless supersized sweeps stunts that we didn’t ask for (do we really need a supersized edition of Good Morning Miami?). But finally, we’re getting a supersized episode of something we want, THE OFFICE. According to an NBC Press release
IN SUPER-SIZED SEASON FINALE WRITTEN BY SERIES STAR STEVE CARELL, ‘OFFICE’ MATES LET IT ROLL — In the super-sized season finale, Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) and the Dunder Mifflin crew hold a “Casino Night” for charity in their warehouse — and take some big gambles. Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez, Phyllis Smith, Melora Hardin and David Denham also star. The episode was written by series star Steve Carell.
Thanks to Give Me My Remote for the heads up. And congrats to everyone who signed the petition.
GILMORE SHOWRUNNERS QUIT!
Horrible News on this Thursday afternoon. “Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is leaving the show she created, walking away from a seventh season and huge payday! Click over to The Ausiello Report for more details.
In her own words, ASP states, “Despite our best efforts to return and ensure the future of Gilmore Girls for years to come, we were unable to reach an agreement with the studio and are therefore leaving when our contracts expire at the end of this season. Our heartfelt thanks go out to our amazing cast, hard-working crew and loyal fans. We know that the story lines from this season will continue into the next, and that the integrity of the show will remain long after we leave Stars Hollow.”
The Gilmore Girls without Amy & Dan will be like THE WEST WING without Aaron Sorkin, or SEINFELD without Larry David – meaning, this is a really really bad thing. ASP was the heart, soul, and mostimportantly the voice of Rory and Lorelai. I won’t abandon the show just yet, but there’s a good chance Stars Hollow will never be the same again.
BIG News
According to Variety, HBO has greenlit another season of BIG LOVE. According to HBO entertainment president Carolyn Strauss, “‘Big Love’ has a really unique premise that we felt wasn’t just gimmicky, It’s striking a chord with viewers and critics, so it was a fairly uncomplicated decision to move forward.” Personally, I’m thrilled with this news, as I’m loving BIG LOVE’s unique storyline and fabulous acting.
OH MY GOD!
[spoiler alert: if you haven’t watched last night’s incredible 2 hour premiere of ALIAS, don’t read this! seriously, stop reading NOW!]
The one great thing about ALIAS not becoming the enormous hit that LOST has become is that spoilers are actually kept to a minumum. While I had a feeling several of our favourite characters from the ALIAS mythos would be making a return throughout the final 7 episodes – I had no idea where, when, and why – and in truth, it makes for a far more enjoyable show. As much as I am a complete spoiler addict, there was something exciting about watching last night’s spectacular 2 hour ALIAS, not knowing what was going to happen next! A few surprises from last night’s episode: [and yes, I realize the irony in ranting against spoilers, while at the same time possibly spoiling the episode for a few readers!]
1] SPY MOMMY is back! Irina Derevko made a surprise appeance in last night’s episode. Lena Olin is incredible, and her chemistry with both Jack and Sydney is brilliant. So awesome to see her return, and I can’t wait to see how she figures into the final 7 episodes
2] VAUGHN is alive! Okay, so ABC’s marketing department made no secret of Vaughn’s return – but the fact that it seems as though Syd and Jack actually knew that he was alive all the time, and were part of covering it up! WOW that was completely unexpected, even in the anything can happen world of Alias.
3] WEISS! Sure he’s JJ Abrams best friend, and expected to be in every series/movie JJ is involved with. But in this case shameless loyalty is a great thing. Greg Grunberg makes me smile with every character he does, and it was so nice to see Weiss back.
4] SLOANE is Evil! Poor Rachel, no doubt Sloane had her deleting sensetive info that would have finally leaked the fact that SLOANE is behind everything. You heard it here first. Sloane is the bad-ass to and all bad-asses, and Sydney will kill him by the end of the series.
So pretty much the episodes were incredible. I’m so exciting for upcoming weeks, when it’s already been teased that we’ll be seeing the return of Will, Anna and Sark.
I really want a Sidekick
No, I’m not talking about having tech genius MAC hang with me at Neptune, I want a t-mobile Sidekick! Between Veronica Mars saving Neptune and Rory talking to her Dad, I’m totally jonsing for a Sidekick (or a rogers one if you’re reading this in Canada!). How cool are they? How brainwashed am I by shameless product placement! Sidekicks, Sunkist (one tree hill), Dove (gilmore), Mazdas (smallville) – OMG the WB has totally sucked me into their web of marketing. I think the WB should start paying me some cash for my serious shameless plugs. Okay, cash isn’t necessary, but what about a free Sidekick?
TV Addict Scoop: Veronica Mars
Introducing the first (of what will no doubt be endless) TV Addict Scoop. Ever wonder what a few pages of script would look like from VERONICA MARS. Well now that last night’s episode aired, I can release the few pages that I’ve obtained from supersecret Neptune spies on the set of VM. Click here to download it.
Speaking of last night’s episode, I LOVED IT! It was so nice to see Veronica and her Dad working together. I love scenes with the two of them. Also, bonus points for MAC coming back. Can we please have more MAC, loved her line, “Please respect the business model Veronica. I do the gadgets, you do the actual espionage.” Bring on Veronica & Mac go to college! Finally, while there was some really new interesting information on Kendall, I still believe that it’s just a smokescreen, and Woody is definitely behind the bus crash.
I Wish I Lived in Stars Hollow
Some of my best memories of Stars Hollow are when the entire town gets together for a late night party under the Stars (no pun intended). Be it a Sookie wedding, a random Taylor inspired festival, or an late night dance-a-thon, GILMORE GIRLS is at its best late at night, under the lights. Lane and Zak’s wedding was no exception, as the entire town gathered for a wedding to remember.
Why would it be remembered you ask? Well, if you must ask, you definitely didn’t have the uncomfortable pleasure of watching an unforgettable Lorelai Gilmore meltdown. It was as bad as watching a stand-up comic fail miserably in front of an entire audience. Poor Lorelai, drunk as a skunk, finally realized what the audience has been thinking for weeks. How on earth is LANE KIM getting married and not LORELAI? Where is the justice in that?
Aside from the painful final 10 minutes, the episode was classic Gilmore. No doubt a credit to the fact that it was written and directed by GG’s creative force Amy Sherman-Palladino. The fake buddhist wedding, Priceless! The Koreans running to the church for seats (58 seats, 62 koreans!) The Bachelor/Bachelorette parties intercepting – seriously, what do people actually do past 9pm in Stars Hollow? Mrs. Kim’s explanation to Lane about her ‘Wedding Night Responsibilities!’ and another amazing, yet brief performance by Paris – it wouldn’t be ‘classic Gilmore’ without Paris. The episode was great, and I’m really looking forward to the final 3 episodes of the season.
A few random observations:
1) Lorelai said ‘fracking’ – who’s the Battlestar Galactica fan on the show?
2) Why does Lane have two random friends. I love how TV always throws in a few extra ‘extras’ so it looks like Lane has more then Rory for a friend.
3) Speaking of Rory, is she auditioning for BIG LOVE? why the awful wedding dress?
4) I wish I had a t-mobile sidekick (seriously!)
5) How awesome is Lorelai, she looked so great in that dress. I loved the Korean men thinking she was ‘working’ Stars Hollow
6) I could watch Paris read a phone book.
She’s Back!
Sydney Bristow returns for her final seven episodes, starting with a 2 hour event, tonight at 8pm on ABC. theTVaddict will be glued to his TV (PVR’ing One Tree Hill of course!). If you are into spoilers and want to see a scene of what is no doubt a really happy ALIAS ending. click here. I of course have no self control when it comes to spoilers and already took a peek! Thanks to the great Ausiello for the Tip!
