So Excited for LOST
It’s 7am, I’m way too excited (okay I slept well, but my dog MAC wakes up really early!). I’m so psyched for tonight’s 2 hour finale of LOST. The preview has been taunting me all week. Apparently, we’ll actually get some definitive answers to some questions we’ve been asking all season. You know, small questions like: why did the plane crash? what really happens when the numbers go down to zero? ABC – I’m holding you to that preview. We better get some real answers! If we’re left staring down an empty rabbit hole (or say a hatch) again as the final shot of the finale, I will be so disappointed. I know the cliffhanger is going to be a doozy, but take some pitty on us poor addicted LOST fans who have been salivating for the truth all season long.
ALIAS goes out with a bang!
There mission, should they choose to accept it, was to wrap up possibly one of the most complex and layered series in the history of television in a mere two hours. Ensuring that long-time and dedicated fans got a satisfactory ending for each and every one of the characters we’ve come to know and love. The writers of ALIAS succeeded in their mission, ending ALIAS on a high note. Providing meaningful endings for the majority of our favourite characters, all the while actually letting us in on the secret that is the mystery of Rambaldi (sort of!). Let me start off with what I LOVED about the episode:
My Take on TV
“It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.”
By: Amrie
Never were truer words spoken. This time, I’m referring, of course, to The Up Fronts!
This past week brought out some tears. Of joy, over surprise renewals; of sadness for uncalled-for cancellations; of boredom for an overturned “cancellation” of the worst show on TV. Here is my take on the Up Fronts. The Good. The Bad. And the Ugly.
Have 60 million: Save DEADWOOD!
Are you a fan of HBO’s recently cancelled DEADWOOD? Do you happen to have an extra 60 million dollars lying around? (who doesn’t?). If so, you can help save DEADWOOD. Creator David Milch always planned DEADWOOD as a four chapter series. Hoping to make his vision a reality, Milch is looking for a generous benefactor to help save the show and give him one more season (12 episodes).
“I’m doing what I can,” Milch says. “Any financial participation could take the pressure off. HBO hasn’t said no… . If I were a gambling guy, which I am, I’d say odds are less than even money.”
Milch says he’s looking at any avenue for funds, including casino tie-ins, theme parks as well as the actual commnity of Deadwood
The third (and most likely final) season of DEADWOOD premieres June 11 on HBO. With a huge ensemble cast and lavish period sets, production costs are north of $5 million an episode. A full season’s order is 12 episodes.
EVERWOOD Finale Spoilers!
I just received a press release from the WB, it contains some spoilers for the finale of EVERWOOD. (Really just a plot summary)
Tuesday Musings: My Trip to Buffalo
I realize most of you will be visiting the site expecting to read theTVaddict’s reaction to last night’s finales of ALIAS and 24. I’ll end the suspense now by letting you know I haven’t had a chance to watch either. Why you ask? (Damn you’re nosy!) Well for your information, yesterday was a holiday up here in the Great White North (Canada). I spent my Victoria Day driving to Buffalo with a friend, partaking in a day of complete excess. Eating, Shopping (for DVDs, Books and other fun stuff) and more eating (TGIF, Chili’s, yummy American food that we don’t have in Toronto!). As a result I don’t have any insightful thoughts on last night’s TV. Rest assured, I PVR’d everthing and will discuss what I hope will be an amazing ALIAS finale tomorrow.
In lieu (I really hope thats a word) of witty TV commentary, I’d like to pass on some shopping tips: TARGET has an incredible sale on TV seasons on DVD. For $22.99! you could get Nip/Tuck (seasons 1 & 2), West Wing (seasons 1-5), Gilmore Girls (seasons 1-5), One Tree Hill (seasons 1 & 2), Veronica Mars (season 1) and I think a few more that I don’t remember. Personally I snagged Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls season 5 to round out my collection.
Finally in more TV news, the hilarious and brilliant CHAPPELLE SHOW has just been added to iTunes. Check it out by clicking here.
NBC Shuffling its Feathers?
In a move that won’t surprise anyone. NBC is considering moving its much-hyped Aaron Sorkin Dramedy STUDIO 60 AT SUNSET STRIP to Monday night, to ensure it doesn’t get it’s butt kicked by the juggernaut that is GREY’S ANATOMY. The move is good news for SCRUBS fans, as the show may be called into action before January – taking the place of STUDIO 60 on Thursdays. SCRUBS on Thursday, now that’s what I call MUST SEE TV.
A Tale of 2 Spy Shows
It’s ironic that after five seasons on the air, both ALIAS and 24 will air their two hour finales tonight. Both series were launched with a bang five years ago, amidst massive promotional campaigns, scoring record numbers in their season premieres. Of course as the seasons wore on, ALIAS’ audience shrunk due to an incredible complex story (listening lost?) while 24’s audience soared, thanks mainly to the juggernaut that is AMERICAN IDOL.
While I’ve appreciated the edge-of-your-seat-completely-implausible excitement of 24 (bathroom breaks anyone?), I’ve always been a bigger fan of ALIAS. Under the direction of creative genius J.J. Abrams, ALIAS not only had a fantastic story (Seriously, we better find out the deal behind Rambaldi tonight – and it better be good!), it had characters with undeniable chemistry. Sydney and Vaughn, Irina and Jack, Jack and Sydney, Sydney and Sloane, well you get the idea! Unlike 24, which is essentially action action and more action – ALIAS had heart!
That said, my PVR will be set to record both finales tonight. Let’s hope both shows end their season (and series) as great as they started.
