Jenny’s This Week on TV
Welcome to a new week for This Week on TV! Weeee! Only a few weeks til Christmas. I’m so excited! Christmas takes on a whole different feel when you have kids. For me, I enjoy giving my son gifts so much more than I enjoy getting them myself. We have some BIG gifts for him this year so I can’t wait to see his face when he opens up the boxes on Christmas day. Speaking of Christmas, let’s see what’s on the plate for this week on TV because new episodes of my favorite shows are just like gifts to me!
Sunday is the season premiere of The Girls Next Door on E! at 10/9c. It’s Independence Day at the mansion. What will the women get into now?
Tonight is also the series premiere of Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood on E! at 10:30/9:30c. The rapper’s family life is seriously funny business; the doors of the Dogg Pound will be thrown open wide. hah
If you were a fan of Saved By the Bell and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, check out Holiday in Handcuffs, starring Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez. It’s on ABC Family at 8/7c and is about a waitress that kidnaps a customer and forces him to pretend to be her beau to fool her parents. I adore both of them, so I can’t wait!

The WGA Responds to the AMPTP
AMPTP BREAKS OFF NEGOTIATIONS
Today, after three days of discussions, the AMPTP came back to us with a proposal that included a total rejection of our proposal on Internet streaming of December 3.
They are holding to their offer of a $250 fixed residual for unlimited one year streaming after a six-week window of free use. They still insist on the DVD rate for Internet downloads.
They refuse to cover original material made for new media.
This offer was accompanied by an ultimatum: the AMPTP demands we give up several of our proposals, including Fair Market Value (our protection against vertical integration and self-dealing), animation, reality, and, most crucially, any proposal that uses distributor’s gross as a basis for residuals. This would require us to concede most of our Internet proposal as a precondition for continued bargaining. The AMPTP insists we let them do to the Internet what they did to home video.
We received a similar ultimatum through back channels prior to the discussions of November 4. At that time, we were assured that if we took DVD’s off the table, we would get a fair offer on new media issues. That offer never materialized.
WGA Strike Watch: The AMPTP Speaks Again!
Direct from the AMPTP: We’re disappointed to report that talks between the AMPTP and WGA have broken down yet again. Quite frankly, we’re puzzled and disheartened by an ongoing WGA negotiating strategy that seems designed to delay or derail talks rather than facilitate an end to this strike. Union negotiators in our industry have successfully concluded 306 major agreements with the AMPTP since its inception in 1982. The WGA organizers sitting across the table from us have never concluded even one industry accord. We believe our New Economic Partnership proposal, which would increase the average working writer’s salary to more than $230,000 a year, makes it possible to find common ground. And we have proved over the last five months that we want writers to participate in producers’ revenues, including in theatrical and television streaming, as well as other areas of new media. However, under no circumstances will we knowingly participate in the destruction of this business.
While the WGA’s organizers can clearly stage rallies, concerts and mock exorcisms, we have serious concerns about whether they’re capable of reaching reasonable compromises that are in the best interests of our entire industry. It is now absolutely clear that the WGA’s organizers are determined to advance their own political ideologies and personal agendas at the expense of working writers and every other working person who depends on our industry for their livelihoods.

Thoughts on Thursday TV… I’ve Got Time.
The TV Addict is a creature of habit.
As is the case with most Thursday nights, I generally return home later than usual. Which means invariably staying up until at least 2AM in a desperate scrabble to watch everything. 30 ROCK, THE OFFICE, SCRUBS, GREY’S ANATOMY, UGLY BETTY and SUPERNATURAL. It’s not easy being a TV Addict. Okay it is — it just involved watching A LOT of TV!
Yet recently, I’ve been thinking — what’s the rush? With Holiday repeats upon us and a WGA strike that looks to be never-ending, I’ve got months and months of repeats and reality to fill.
So with apologies to Stephen Colbert [remember him?], I’ve been taking a page from his Number #1 nemisis — the Bear — by starting to stock up on television shows for what’s shaping up to be a long, cold and bitter winter.
In fact, my PVR is virtually full with episodes of CHUCK, JOURNEYMAN and LIFE. So much so that I had to make the difficult choice of erasing a treasured episode of EVERWOOD in order to record last night’s Comedy Night Done Right. Which thankfully turned out to be worth it. 30 ROCK was yet again laugh-out-loud hilarious [I think I’m in love with Tina Fey].
That said, this morning, I’d like to ask my far smarter and better looking readers two simple questions. 1) Have you been stocking up on shows for the boring winter ahead? And 2) What did you think of Thursday Night TV?
Anatomy of a Press Kit — TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES
If you’re the type of person who enjoys receiving mysterious and interesting packages on a semi-regular basis. Well then running a television web site is the job for you.
Take this morning for instance. When the phone rang between 11 and 12 A, I couldn’t help but smile. Because odds were good that the voice on the other end of the line was going to utter my two favorite words, “FedEX Delivery!”
Two weeks ago, I received a nondescript plain white envelope containing a simple note and a key. [see below photo]
For days, I lay awake at night wondering what this key opened [Clearly I need a life!] A Car?! A Safety Deposit Box?! My imagination ran wild!
This morning, the answer came in the form of a metallic silver lock box.
You Be the Critic: PRIVATE PRACTICE
On last night’s PRIVATE PRACTICE, things finally started to get interesting. And while “Old Man Fight Club” is guaranteed water-cooler fodder — the moment this TV Addict’s going to highlight is all about Addison. It’s about time she got back in touch with the strong and sensible Doctor she left behind at Seattle Grace. Did anyone else crack a smile when a gorgeous Addison [finally] stepped it up and walked into Kevin’s [David Sutcliffe] Fire Department?
Creator Shonda Rhimes is no dummy. She knows the first rule of fight club good drama — the love triangle. In fact, thanks to Addison/Pete/Kevin, Naomi/Dell/Sam and Cooper/Violet/Charlotte — PRIVATE PRACTICE is all about the triangle. Which means, whenever the WGA strike ends, PRIVATE PRACTICE may finally star living up to the hype. Agree, Disagree, Post away.
HEROES: The “LOST” (Half) Season
By: Seth C.
I would like to thank the TV Addict for allowing me to rant and post my feelings on a show I love so much.I have made a conscious effort to stay away from all blogs and postings so that my article will just be my thoughts and not influenced by others. But let’s be honest, if I thought of an idea I’m sure someone else has, so here we go.
My last two articles have talked about how to fix Heroes. With that in mind I’m just going to talk about the season finale, what I thought was wrong and the questions it brought forth. You can draw your own conclusions on how things can be fixed.
The last episode had three good things and two of them didn’t have any effect on the story at all. First the tribute to Steve McQueen and The Great Escape, with HRG in the lead role (If you didn’t catch the reference rent the DVD, it is my favourite move of all time) Second was the symbol appearing in Peter’s hand as he disposed of the virus. Lastly was Hiro’s disposal of Adam. That was brilliant. My only question is will he now die from a lack of oxygen or a lack of food?
