Welcome to [Modern] COUGAR TOWN

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Shows We’ve Re-Fallen in Love With
SMALLVILLE
From ridiculous season finales that featured 12 minute music montages leaving virtually every single character’s life hanging in the balance, to our intense dislike of Lana Lang, the past few seasons of SMALLVILLE have been anything but super. Luckily for the CW — our kryptonite is the likes of special guest stars Laura Vandervoort and Keri Lynn Pratt. Both of whom brought us back into the fold this season, where we not only can’t help but be impressed by the epic fashion the show has handled Lex Luthor’s absence, but the even cooler way in which every episode of the season thus far has inexplicably ended with an iconic nod to the Superman mythos.
90210
What’s the only thing more unexpected than Annie getting off with a glorified slap-on-the-wrist and a month or two of house arrest for a hit and run in which she killed a man, ran away from the scene of the crime and covered it up for the better part of a year? How about the fact that the CW’s poorly conceived 90210 reboot has not just gotten good, it has gotten really good. And while we’re hesitant to say that the third year series has reached the heights of its predecessor just yet (Again, are we the only ones completely confounded as to when Liam got a stalker?) the show has completely turned a corner this season by mastering what made the original series so addictive. Mixing the fun (as in Monday’s surprisingly smart “Undies-achiever” party) with the not-so-fun (like Naomi’s rape and Teddy’s coming out, both of which have been handled remarkably well thus far.)
Attention FRINGE Fans, Look Closer…
A little birdie Fox just alerted us to the fact that this may-or-may-not have something to do with tomorrow night’s episode. Look closer here.

A Candid Conversation with GOOD MORNING AMERICA anchor Robin Roberts
Turnabout is fair play. Which is why, mere hours before Robin Roberts invites viewers to get up close and personal with the likes of LeAnn Rimes (Who comes clean about the dissolution of her marriage), Carrie Underwood (discussing her wedding to NHL star Mike Fisher) and Miranda Lambert (Who reveals what it was like spending part of her childhood homeless) in her ALL ACCESS NASHVILLE SPECIAL we thought it might be fun (and only fair) to turn the tables on the GOOD MORNING AMERICA anchor. Here’s her take on LeAnn Rimes, her very public battle with cancer, and Jon Stewart’s recent well-thought out scolding of America’s media.
Your special tonight has you getting very up close and personal with the likes of LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood. As someone in the public spotlight herself, do you feel that the trade off in terms of personal privacy that one makes to reach a certain level of stardom is a fair one?
Robin Roberts: That’s a really fair question and I think it’s really up to the celebrity. I think there is an appetite from the public that can get out of control, but I think it’s up to them. For instance, Carrie Underwood, who did talk to me about her marriage to Mike [Fisher] is a very private person. When I talked to her a year ago on my first special, the fact that she even mentioned his name in the interview was such a huge deal and now a year later they’re married. Carrie kind of dictates what is going to be said and not said and I respect the dickens out of that. I don’t try to pull more out of her, I put her in a comfortable place and if she wants to talk about it, it’s fine.
In terms of LeAnn Rimes, what they went through, she and Eddie [Cibrian] a year and a half ago was almost off the charts as far as the tabloids, the speculation and just the things that were said. They were both married, and I’m not trying to sugar-coat it, neither are they and there’s not anyone trying to say what they did was right, but I do think it’s a trade off with being in the public eye.

Is LIFE UNEXPECTED Really Over? We Get to the Bottom of Things with Creator Liz Tigelaar
This just in: With Deadline Hollywood breaking the disappointing, albeit somewhat expected news late last night that the CW has opted against picking up LIFE UNEXPECTED for a full 22-episode second season, it has officially not been a good Fall for TV Addict favorites (See: LONE STAR, LIFE UNEXPECTED and [soon-to-be] RUNNING WILDE).
That said, rather than wallow in self-pity for the latest in a long string of CW shows that we’ll no doubt continue to point to for years as examples of what could have been (see: EVERWOOD, JACK & BOBBY, GROSSE POINTE), we thought we’d do something constructive by providing you with actual answers to some burning questions that have been flooding our inbox since late last night. Just what does LIFE UNEXPECTED’s failure to get a back-nine mean for your (and our) favorite little-show-that-unfortunately-couldn’t? Here’s what creator Liz Tigelaar had to say when we pre-emptively posed a few questions to find out just that during our recent one-on-one.

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Questions with RAISING HOPE Showrunner Greg Garcia
When you’re writing a show like RAISING HOPE, how much of your own life experiences find its way into the stories?
Greg Garcia: I think everything kind of bleeds in. And while there hasn’t been any direct — like this happened to me so we’re going to do this kind of thing — you use your experiences as you write. And as always, people you meet, people you see, everything kind of bleeds in but there hasn’t been anything completely, directly from my life that we’ve used yet but I think everything is influenced. I know in the pilot we flipped the baby in the car seat, which came from an idea I had. I wanted to put that in the show a long time ago because I think one time—more than one time I think—I’ve probably put the car seat in the car and then driven somewhere and realized that it wasn’t strapped in and thought, “Well, this could have been awful,” or it could have been hilarious if it just flipped one time and the baby was fine. Then stuff like getting the baby stuck in the garage with the clutter and all that stuff that just came from an idea that Martha was a hoarder and then we just went from there. We’ve just been trying to find some fun situations for the baby.
