Preview: SHERLOCK Returns With A Fresh Spin on a Familiar Tale
Unlike the well-known stories of Arthur Conan Doyle or any other incarnation of the Sherlock Holmes of lore, the British series SHERLOCK is all about shock and awe. Coming from mastermind Steven Moffat (currently helming DOCTOR WHO), this modern tale spins a web of mystery that is worthy of the name “Sherlock.” Much has been written about the series, which dares to bring the notorious detective into present day, but truly nothing can capture the visually stunning imagery and finesse with which the series brings its unique stories to life. The series is as clever as the man himself and dares viewers to take an extraordinary journey with it. [Read more…]

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Lessons Networks Can Learn From the Success of GAME OF THRONES
Never underestimate you audience.
While we’re the first to fess up to the fact that when we initially started watching GAME OF THRONES we spent an inordinate amount of time rewinding and wikipediaing in an effort to keep pace with the ever-expanding universe that is the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, there is no doubt in our mind that the “hard work” we put into the show ended up contributing to our overall enjoyment of the complex and complicated world imagined by George R.R. Martin. And don’t even get us started on our appreciation of the ever-evolving opening credits.
Don’t fall in love with your cast.
Despite the fact that our jaw may-or-may-not still be smarting from the moment it dropped to the floor near the end of GAME OF THRONES’ first season that saw the series do — what at the time — seemed like the unthinkable, we wouldn’t trade the shocking death of you-know-who for anything. After-all, not only was it the kind of series-defining moment that cemented our infatuation with the show, it now has us salivating from week-to-week in anticipation of expecting the unexpected. DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES! MODERN FAMILY! THE WEST WING! GOSSIP GIRL! The TV Addict Week in Rewind
Totally Unfounded Rumor We Want To See Become Fact: Sure, Chris Harrison, we’re bummed that you and your wife of 18 years are calling it quits. But now you can finally go from talking about THE BACHELOR’s hot tub hook-ups to having them by going from host to star!
The Biggest Loser: Talk about backing the wrong horse! HBO’s LUCK wound up losing the net $35 million bucks and is still, despite having been cancelled, being attacked by the folks at PETA, who’ve now given new meaning to the term “beating a dead horse.”
Least Sexy Sex Club: The GOSSIP GIRL gang hit a private, mobile brothel… which somehow came off as about as dirty as an episode of ROMPER ROOM.
The Hypocrites-Are-Us Award Goes To… : MTV, who last month was reportedly upset about the sexed-up image its TEEN MOM stars were projecting by having boob jobs, nevertheless tagged along as one of them (Janelle Evans) got one.
Even Less Sexy Than The Above-Mentioned Party: Lifetime’s reality outing, SEVEN DAYS OF SEX, in which bickering couples try to fix their relationship by gettin’ jiggy with it every night for a week, is more depressing than a month of dateless weekends.
Worst Branding: Lifetime’s programming now comes with a weird-looking blob in the corner that’s almost as distracting as the ads running in the opposite corner, complete with reviews of their shows.
Most Ironic Endorsement: MODERN FAMILY was given an award by the Catholics In Media Associates… who apparently think that Cam and Mitchell are just really, really good friends. [Read more…]
